why a crew member reportedly had to use a coffee pot to subdue a passenger. and we remember the man who brought us timeless hits including "ghostbusters" and "animal house." ♪ >> announcer: from abc news in new york, this is "america this morning." good monday morning, everyone. we begin with a super night for los angeles. >> fans have been celebrating all night after the rams won super bowl lvi on their home field. their second super bowl title in franchise history. >> some crowds in l.a. were blocking traffic overnight, rocking cars and jumping on top ttles at officers. ke up wire. >> reporter: america's biggest game on its biggest stage. >> the super bowl has come back to los angeles!

>> reporter: super bowl r6 lvi in los angeles shaped up to be an instant classic with the hometown l.a. rams taking on the cincinnati bengals. first quarter, it's the rams drawing first blood. matt stafford connecting with odell beckham jr. in the end zone, but the all pro wide out would go down with a game-ending injury. to the second quarter we go. the rams scoring the second touchdown of the game but missed the extra point. >> hector picks the ball up. bad snap. >> reporter: bengals' quarterback joe burrow sacked a super bowl record-tying seven times. getting sacked the whole time. so bengals' head coach zac taylor going to the back of the playbook for this one. some trickeration. wide out higgins hitting mixon on the redirect. the rams led by three in the first half but the bengals came roaring back, scoring a touchdown 14 seconds after halftime on this bomb from burrow. >> he goes in for the score! >> reporter: both teams battling for every yard and every point, trading the lead back and forth until the end of the fourth quarter when stafford connected with who else, cooper kupp. cming up cooper clutch rams

regained the lead late, 23-20. the bengals known for their late comebacks were unable to write their own hollywood ending this time. the rams are your world champions. >> i dreamed this, man. i dreamed this. and it's like -- it's surreal. look at this. >> reporter: former long time detroit lion and first-year rams qb matt stafford surrounded by his four young daughters on what winning his first super bowl in his 12-year career means to him. >> just a little emotional and so happy to be world champ. and so happy to be a part of this group. >> reporter: joe burrow only his second season in the league on his team falling short. >> it hurts. put a lot of work in going out there and executing and performing well and didn't turn out the way we wanted. it's disappointed. >> the bengals have plenty to celebrate. considering they only won six games combined in the previous two seasons. later this half hour, we have the top moments from the halftime show and the commercials. meanwhile, many fans at the game, including celebrities, ignored the local mask mandate,

which requires a mask at outdoor mega events. our reporters at the stadium sat we turn developing erseasane on the brink of war. president biden spoke with the president of ukraine sunday. ike, good morning. >> good morning, mona. the threat of an invasion is mounting with officials warning it could happen at any moment. now the country is advising airlines to avoid certain parts of the region. >> reporter: this morning, russia continuing its aggressive actions along ukraine's border. russian troops in heavy artillery performing massive military drills. the u.s. officials say in the last ten days russia has accelerated its buildup of forces. putin now has an estimated 130,000 troops amassed on three sides of the country. with u.s. officials warning of a possible imminent attack. >> it's likely to begin with a significant barrage of missiles

and bomb attacks. >> reporter: and this morning, ukraine advising airlines to avoid air space over parts of the black sea out of safety. still, attempts for diplomacy on display. today, german chancellor scholz is in kyiv and off to moscow. president biden speaking by phone with ukrainian president zelensky over the weekend making it clear the u.s. and its allies will respond swiftly and decisively if russia invades. zelensky asking the u.s. to provide even more military and financial support, even inviting biden to visit the country. >> we have good sources of intelligence. they're telling us things are sort of building now to some sort of crescendo opportunity for mr. putin. >> reporter: yet on the ground, a completely different sentiment. abc's ian pannell is there. >> there is no sense of panic here, but people are certainly planning and preparing in case the worst happens. >> reporter: despite the feeling on the ground, the state department taking no chances. ordering all u.s. citizens to get out of ukraine while they still can.

and canada announcing it's closing its embassy in kyiv today with australia joining dozens of other nations asking its residents to leave. mona? >> thank you. police in albuquerque are investigating a stabbing spree, 11 people were injured. authorities say the suspect, who is in custody, was riding a bike and stabbed people at seven different locations. two victims are in critical condition. no word on a motive. breaking overnight, a new uackdown on truckers protesti crossing finally reopening. just in time for the workweek. >> reporter: this morning, a vital trade route between canada and the u.s. finally reopened. [ horns honking ] police clearing this blockade of truckers allowing traffic between ontario and detroit to flow again after a nearly wee-long protest against covid restrictions. >> any unlawful activity in the area will not be tolerated and officers will take the necessary action to keep the peace and traffic flowing.

>> reporter: the standoff coming to a head over the weekend. >> freedom! >> freedom! >> reporter: dozens arrested and vehicles seized as a shutdown of the ambassador bridge dragged on. crippling the auto industry, which relies on the bridge to transport auto parts. costing factory workers an estimated $51 million in wages in the last week. >> it's just one more thing that is challenging auto production. i would think that plants would start up early next week. >> reporter: but protests still raging in other cities. ♪ in ottawa, the so-called freedom convoy has now agreed to limit demonstrations to streets around government buildings after taking over residential areas earlier this month. >> there's an illegal occupation happening. the rule of law doesn't exist a few blocks away. >> reporter: police say thousands of protesters became aggressive this weekend. >> the way they're going about it now is completely unacceptable. they're occupying our city. people are scared to go to work, scared to leave their homes. >> reporter: meanwhile, officials in other countries are

taking a different approach to control similar protests. police in new zealand are blasting barry manilow songs and "baby shark" in hopes of getting protesters to leave. >> that's one way to do it. back in canada, three members of the canadian armed forces are now under investigation for supporting the protest. in georgia, opening statements are expected today in the federal hate crime trial of three men convicted of killing ahmaud arbery. travis mcmichael, his father greg and their neighbor are accused of chasing and killing arbery because he was black. the judge is expected to seat 12 jurors today. rudy giuliani may be willing to cooperate with the january 6th committee. sources say he's in talks with the committee about testifying after being subpoenaed. giuliani was former president trump's personal attorney. time now for a look at your monday weather. let's start here. severe weather was blamed for

nfl running back adrian peterson has been arrested on a felony domestic violence charge. he was arrested at l.a.x. airport and released on $50,000 bail. he was suspended back in 2014 after being charged with child abuse. we're learning more about a case of air rage on an american airlines flight. a crew member allegedly had to use a coffee pot to subdue a passenger. here's abc rhiannon ally. >> reporter: frightening moments on this flight from los angeles to d.c. sunday. passengers jumping in, holding down a man who allegedly tried to open the door of the plane mid flight. >> yeah, he's trying to get into the cockpit. >> reporter: the pilots quickly deciding to make an emergency landing in kansas city. american airlines flight 1775 dropping 30,000 feet in a matter of minutes. a flight attendant reportedly subduing the unruly passenger with a coffee pot. >> we have four passengers now

trying to contain this gentleman, american 1775. >> we have two armed people onboard that are securing him right now. >> reporter: no word yet as to who those two armed people were. the fbi took the suspect into custody when the plane landed. one witness tweeting, the man was bleeding as the police in this video are taking him off the flight. it's just the latest incident in the unfriendly skies. in the first six weeks of this year, the faa received 394 reports of unruly passengers. this video is from a frontier airlines flight from new york to orlando last week. it was forced to stop in raleigh-durham when a passenger started getting violent, claiming a woman was sticking him with a needle to steal his dna. and in january, an international flight was forced to turn around after a passenger refused to put on a mask. the ceo of delta airlines has asked the department of justice to place any person convicted of an in-flight disruption on a do
