running. >> i feel like we're missing some key players. but that's no excuse. >> we've only got 20-something games left. we have to develop good habits on the defensive end. >> here comes the cavalry. james weissman is playing on five on-five scrimmages. he hasn't played in a single game at all. he's trying to come back from two surgeries. he's going to have very little time to ramp up. but the dubs desperately need his size. imagine showing up to your first day on the job and you're wearing that. that is the newly acquired james harden and philadelphia at the sixers games. i'm not a fashionista. so i don't know what you even call this thing. what's going on there? it looks like he has boots on his arms. i don't know. maybe he borrowed joel embiid's wardrobe. anyway. he had some interesting revelations including that he didn't want to go with the brook len nets with k.d. and kyrie.
6:54 pm
there was a fair amount of friction the beard showed up out of shape. and he said all along he wanted to play if for the sixers. >> i mean, i wasn't playing like this. >> 14 months ago i didn't see myself on three different teams. last year has been a lot of ups an downs. that's in the past. i'm excited. i'm healthy. it's an opportunity of a lifetime. larry: on the other side of the trade, ben simmons who refused to play for the sixers he basically melted down in last year's playoff. he said his mental health got the point where he couldn't play. he hopes to get back in shape to play by early march. >> for me, it was making sure mentally i was right to get out there and play against that's why i've been dealing with. and it wasn't about the fans or coaches or comments made by anybody. it was just a personal thing for me. to where i just knew i wasn't myself. and i needed to get back to that
6:55 pm
place of being myself. and -- and being happy as a person. and taking care of my well-being. larry: interesting to see how that all works out. pitchers and catchers would have been reporting to spring training today. but the baseball lockout continues. we are two months into this thing. there is no end in sight. i mean, they're not even having meaningful conversations between the players and the owners. the first spring training games were supposed to senator 1 # 1 days. if thing this thing drags on much longer, regular season games will be in jeopardy and it's just a mess. you have such a lack of leadership. it's astounding. one week from saturday, the san jose earthquakes open a new season against the new york red bulls. expect to see a young athletic squad on the pitch more than half of the team is 24 or younger. san jose looking to return to the playoffs after missing out last season. >> we're pretty young, dynamic
6:56 pm
we're going to move the ball well. we're a fast team. >> we're going to be a young group full of diverse people, backgrounds, cultures. but one that fight first the same goal and one that's fighting if our city. >> we brought in some really good games, some good m.l.s. equal guy who is know what it takes to win and we hope to bring a higher competitive team this year and win a lot more games at home. larry: good luck, quakes. dan, i could see you in that james harden thing -- [laughter] i don't know if -- dan: i'll work on the beard too. larry: as we get donald foyle, we cut one of his jacques about you wear it. but that may be the look. i don't know james harden would know better than it dan: we want to be trendy. thanks, larry. ama: coming up tonight on abc7 starting at 8:00 p.m., it's the jeopardy college championship. then catch blackish.
