we live with these as we learn to live with covid? the governor's office released a video in advance of this whahrghhese la andhawe have learned, and looking forward. his office that he will be releasing a wide-ranging first of its kind plan to assure people have what they need to prepare for what is to come. we checked in with some doctors about what they expect to hear. they agree life will not look like before he did before the pandemic. >> i'm not sure we can get there ever appeared >> we cannot go back to the way we used to live. >> it is sort of like 9/11. after 9/11, we do not travel the same way anymore. we have to use comparison to how it will be after this critical phase of the pandemic. this will take a little time and effort. there will be a transition of

people a break from things like masking when the metrics are better. what about kids? dr. fauci said it is too soon to stop masking children in school. dr. fauci: it is not prudent to pull masks off children. you could see an increase in infections. reggie: it is not up to officials in d.c. a senior advisor says local officials make their own judgments about what works best for their schools but they help local officials will consider all of the science. the u.s. government is working on a plan to distribute high quality masks to kids. kumasi: developing news, the kremlin is responding to president biden's warning, saying it is fed up with threats about an attack on ukraine. the u.s. claims new images

suggest the opposite is happening. jobina: the white house says 7000 more russian troops have been added to ukraine's border. the russian military release videos claiming its forces are withdrawing from ukraine's border but satellite images show russia's continued military buildup near ukraine. the u.k.'s top intelligence officer says additional armored vehicles, helicopters and a field hospital are moving toward ukraine's border. >> we have not seen them pull back. we are declared for diplomacy or aggression. jobina: the high-level diplomatic push continues. vice president harris leaves for germany this morning to participate in a security conference with european allies. the security council will meet to debate the minsk agreement. reggie: there is a deadline

today for a first draft of a new agreement between san francisco police and the das office on the use of force investigations. last night, chief bill scott told the san francisco police commission is negotiating an agreement. two weeks ago, scott announced he was pulling out of the agreement, claiming the das office was not giving them certain details in cases. >> i am doing everything i can to resolve these issues. i am at the table, i will stay at the table. we are working with the california attorney general to put measures in place in the interim that we can agree on. the first draft would be due this week on friday. we are trying to do everything we can to work this out. reggie: the da previously said the current agreement is working, saying deadly police shootings are down. the police commission president

said she might call for an emergency meeting next week. kumasi: san jose fire investigators are looking into what started this house fire on hillsboro way near woodside lane before 3:00 this morning. you can see heavy smoke coming from the house. we have reached out to san jose fire for more information. encouraging news about the health of firefighters injured in high-rise fire in oakland. one firefighter was released from the hospital thursday night. fire officials say a third is still in the hospital. a two alarm fire forced the evacuation of this building. multiple people were forced out of the building. a wildfire in a remote county is forcing evacuations this morning. this time lapse video from an alert wildfire camera yesterday shows a stark contrast, smoke billowing in the distance with snow-covered hills. the fire broke out yesterday

afternoon outside the town of bishop. the fire burned 1800 acres at last check. reggie: 50 days without rain in san jose. drew is telling us that is the longest winter stretch on record. the last time we saw a rain and san jose was late december. the local water district is worried the drought we are in will be more severe. the consequences could be catastrophic. >> it is possible some people with wells will run out of water in the summer. we are trying to prevent that with emergency water purchases and conservation. reggie: the valley water district set conservation is crucial during these dry winter months. reservoirs are only at a quarter of total capacity. drew: at about 6:10 a.m. this morning, we will get an update on the drought monitor and see

reggie: advances in dna testing technology are being credited for helping solve a 25-year-old cold case in sonoma county. dna evidence abutted to a richmond lab last year matched that of this man. a convicted felon who died in prison last december. the match ends the mystery around the death of a woman. her badly beaten body was found in a field in 1996. >> the family was obviously relieved. it is a prime example of how we do not forget about the victims. every family deserves answers. reggie: he was serving a 2 one-year sentence for a string

of violent crimes in san francisco in the late 1990's. this started with a video sent to san mateo police in late january. you will see a flare gun fired over police headquarters. fast forward to tuesday night. an officer was heading to a call when a burning object sailed past his car. the officer discovered a man sitting at a bus stop with a flare gun. the man is associate with an email dress the video was sent from. kumasi: the city council -- a court order required the university to free student enrollment. a group sued uc berkeley over eight plan to build classrooms and faculty housing near campus. the enrollment frees means undergraduate enrollment -- the enrollment freeze. berkeley mayor said this would

important and that is future. kumasi: the new board will face issues from equity to learning loss during the pandemic and the budget deficit. the school board recall does come amid arise in recall efforts. the district attorney is facing a recall in june. an effort to recall governor newsom was on the ballot last year. he is an expert in recall elections and he said recall fever is real partly due to unrest around covid. he said there was also a surge after the recall election of governor greg davis in 2003. >> once people see it being used, they think, why not me? kumasi: as recall efforts become more common, there are growing efforts to reform the process. in june, san francisco voters

will decide whether to reform. reggie: you have seen videos of airline passengers acting up midflight. the fbi is now getting involved to investigate some of those accused of bad behavior. jobina fortson has some stats that paint a troubling picture. jobina: i was just on a plane and the flight attendant said not appear, not today. the federal government is striking a serious tone for people out of control in the air. 80 unruly passenger cases from last year have been sent from the faa to the fbi for criminal prosecution. in the first six weeks of the air, hundreds of incidents of unruly passengers happen reported. mid air violence is prompting airlines to act. delta airlines is urging the feds to ban passengers convicted of disrupting flights.

reggie: they state assembly member looking to get one of california's pesky asked laws off the book took his fish to the streets. >> because of citations, crossing the street going to work or a restaurant, this has led to a disincentive to walk. reggie: that is a san francisco representative using the streets to make his latest push for jaywalking reform. what he ultimately wants is for california to stop ticketing pedestrians. he said it is arbitrarily enforced and the tickets are disproportionately given to people of color or people who cannot afford to pay them. kumasi: if you have put gas in your car race a recently, you he seen the trend.
