frost will form. as those temperatures humble, look what happens. by morning we are talking about mid 20's. this is of the coldest time. i will be back with a complete look. dan: take a look at the hail that came down in sonoma. tonight in the north bay, an effort to get people out of the elements because it is so cold. warming shelters and centers have opened up to try to help those without homes keep warm. j.r. stone was in santa rosa and explains the services are a relief for many after already cold nights. >> i was feeling so bad my stomach and back work tightened up and cramping. reporter: he is describing what last sunday night was like on the streets with nowhere to go temperatures dropped in santa rosa. >> my body was so sore. reporter: tuesday night, he is

saying at the arlene francis center opened by community members last-minute as a way to shelter the nearly 2000 homeless individuals in sonoma county. >> one of our friends brought cots and blankets. calling made chili, we are going to have hot chocolate. reporter: a line was forming one we were outside the catholic charities warming center ended by the city, just blocks from the arlene francis center. there aren't beds here, there are heaters outside and transportation available to take individuals to the city shelter that has additional beds. >> we are going to have patio heaters, clothing giveaways. we are going to have warm food, drink, to help people get through the next few nights. reporter: some we talked with on the streets said it is about time. >> i think it should've been open three days ago. they need to stay open.

reporter: as for those who are warm tonight, they are grateful. >> it is too cold out there tonight. i pray. to the universe or god, i thought of my relatives, that changed my path. this opportunity came up. a blessing. reporter: the indoor warming shelter we showed you will be open for the next two nights. warming center located here at catholic charities will be open for the next three. in santa rosa, j.r. stone, abc 7 news. ama: in the east bay, workers at wineries and nurseries spent today preparing for the cold. more frost is actually good thing, it will help the vines stay dormant until later in the spring. this should benefit your growth in the long run. a potential problem would be another round of 70 degree temperatures followed by another round of frost. it is different story the

major thoroughfares in the cameras will be used to prevent and solve crimes. the police chief repeatedly emphasized they would not be used for surveillance. video would be kept for 15 days and discarded. >> is there -- if there's information to suggest a crime occurred, we look back at the video to see if we can glean any intelligence information that will help us solve the crime. we are not pulling people over based on seeing someone drive through our city for some low-level offense. it is objective crimes that have occurred. ama: the estimated cost is 100 $10,000 per year. no action was taken tonight by the city council. dan: memorial is growing at the firm up police department. 54-year-old freddie bobbitt was it with the department more than 30 years. he grew up in fremont and attended missions and has a high school. he was married and has a son who is a detective with the fremont police department. fremont police will release more information in the coming days
