you are watching abc seven news at 6:00 live on abc seven and wherever you stream. happening right now, the search is on for this two-year-old boy, jacob jardine. he is the focus of an amber alert taken from outside a traveling in sunnyvale. we are there live. i cannot imagine the heartbreak of the family. reporter: it is a heartbreaking situation for sure. we spoke with the mother who is making an urgent plea for jacobs safe return. she and her son were staying at this hotel in sunnyvale. the fbi is offering a $5,000 award for information leading to jacobs safe return. >> please keep a lookout. he reporter: has a baby. reporter:an emotional plea from the mother of jacob jardine. her suv was stolen on sunday

from the parking lot of the travel inn on north matilda avenue in sunnyvale where they were staying. >> she said she was loading some items from her car into the hotel room and she came out and saw the car speeding away. reporter: melissa jardine called 911 and digital billboards certain -- soon flashed an amber alert for jacob jardine. he is riding in his mother's 2008 buick enclave. >> if it was your kid, you would hope everyone would stop everything and start looking. >> if you come across this vehicle with my grandbaby inside it, i ask that you drop him off somewhere safe and let us know where he is at. reporter: police are trying to identify -- catch up with this woman identified as tammy. >> we have not been able to

locate or talk to tammy. we are hopeful she saw something g. please do not believe she is responsible for the child subduction. >> i had not noticed anyone watching us. >> the fact that it has gone on this long is concerning. reporter: while police continue investigating, the family continues to hope. >> just drop the baby off. that is all we want. reporter: police say the investigation continues as well as their search. there have been several reported sightings of the buick as you be today in the bay area -- in fact as far north as san francisco though unfortunately, none of the tips panned out to be anything helpful. please urge you to call 911 right away if you know

information. anchor: what an excruciating wait for that family. moving on to developing news. several major developments in the russian ukraine of ukraine. the security council voted to call an emergency general assembly session. 27 nations have banned russian aircraft from their airspace. fedex and ups also suspended deliveries to russia. and to the situation on the ground where reena roy tells us talks involving ukraine are scheduled to end the invasion. reporter: the president of ukraine says he does not believe there will be a breakthrough in talks with russian negotiators. both sides prepared to meet at the ukraine-belarusian border. a children's hospital forced to move into a bomb shelter. others across the country also

further aggression. reporter: ukrainian officials calling for more military aid as they try to defend their country. >> we need more defensive weapons. reporter: the u.s. and countries like germany, poland, and the czech republic are all sending weapons to help bolster defenses. u.s. and some european partners are moving to bart some russian ranks from the swift system. they are also targeting the russian central bank in a major move that could lock up over 600 million dollars the russian government has in savings abroad. anchor: a large rally to show solidarity with ukraine was held at san francisco's civic center plaza. hundreds wanted to send a message to the ukrainian people that the bay area supports them. they called for a stop to vladimir putin's invasion of the country. we heard from many

ukrainian-americans who say they have family there living in extreme conditions. >> my parents are in kyiv und uu a huge ballistic missile attack and an aircraft attack and they are struggling. there are so many children that are struggling. anchor: that man says he is worried sick about his parents and the hardship they are facing as russian forces try to take capital. to the ease bay where the colors of ukraine filled the park this afternoon. that is where a picnic fundraiser was held to collect donations for humanitarian relief in ukraine. more than 100 community members came together to share a meal and provide emotional support for each other. money collected today will go to the just what refugee service which will help find accommodations for ukrainians as keeping the war. in the south bay, you not by science were placed on russian

dion: two breaking news coming into the abc7news room moments ago. the california highway patrol has confirmed to abc 7 that the two-year-old boy at the center of an amber alert out of sunnyvale has been found. you just spoke with the family of the little boy. reporter: we are about to speak to them. this is a major update. the chp tweeting an alert that the amber alert has been deactivated. two-year-old jacob jardine has been located. we are waiting for more details on the case on exactly where the car and where the boy was found but right now, there is elation here at the hotel where the family was staying. this is his grandmother. i know this is an emotional roller coaster today. >> right now, i feel great. i just want to see jake up and make sure that he is ok.

i want to thank the police department and the chp and the news and everyone out there that helped us find this baby. i appreciate every one of you and i promise that you will be in my prayers tonight. reporter: do you have any details about where he might have been located? >> we don't have any details. all we know is that he has been found and i am so thankful. reporter: you live in sacramento and you raised down here as soon you found out he was missing. this was early this morning. the police were very concerned because he had not been located. >> 14 hours. reporter: in a situation like this and a stolen car, they are usually found right away. >> my son came from nevada and drove six hours to help us find

another shooting on the freeway in the east bay. the highway patrol says shots were fired near the north livermore avenue exit in livermore. the white truck was involved in the incident. there is a carsey in the truck bed. the freeway was temporarily shut down for about a half an hour. the chp calls this an

dion: new details on a dramatic crash involving a fire truck in oakland. three firefighters were treated at a hospital and released. the whole thing was caught on a restaurant security camera where the incident happened. a car turns left into the path of a second fire truck. it swerves to avoid the truck running into a storefront. the collision flooded the basement. water and power were shut off at the complex. the red cross is helping displaced tenants tonight. police are still looking for the driver of the car that turned as the car that turned as a fire truck approached. switching gears to the weather. we have a little bit of rain. spencer: and we need it. here is a look at what is

dion: as black history month comes to an end, people gathered in downtown oakland today for the fifth annual lack joy parade. it celebrates black artists and organizations. this year people were able to celebrate in person after being able -- after being forced to go virtual last year. it featured more than 150 music, dance black organizations and with 200 vendors. we end our 6:00 newscast with an update. you just heard from our abc

seven news reporter live from sunnyvale where it was reported that chp has located this little boy. two-year-old jacob. we heard from his grandmother, quite emotional as she said she was breathing a sigh of relief that the toddler was found. at the time, moments ago, she did not have any information as to the circumstances however sunnyvale police have tweeted out a message saying they are thankful to report a patrol officer conducted a search and found the little boy in new york city, ♪ ♪ there's always something new to discover. ♪ ♪
