hungry about 8:00 a.m. >> that is right. >> and good morning, america. we are back on the desk with this very busy saturday morning, and we have a lot to get to including the war in ukraine, and including the cease-fire for two besieged cities in ukraine, but many are saying that agreement is broken as there were supposed to be a corridor for civilians to escape the intense fighting, but we are told in mariupol, the evacuation has ceased because of the heavy shelling. >> ukrainian president volodymyr zelenskyy is drawing crowds in slovakia and the czech republic where people erupted in cheers where he spoke via video. >> all of this as the humanitarian crisis is continuing to grow with the thousands of refugees and mothers and children fleeing the

violence. matt has the latest. >> i wanted to give you the sense of where we are, this is a checkpoint outside of lviv, and the eyes are on the east of where the shelling continues in mariupol where there was supposed to be a five-hour cease-fire. president zelenskyy's office is calling off the evacuation of the cities saying that it is not safe, and asking people to go back home and get in their bomb shelters. >> reporter: this morning the merciless onslaught of violence intensifies. social media showing an apartment complex north of kyiv still smoldering and the survivors are screaming and scurrying for cover and 47 people killed. soldiers also taking a southern city and focusing the attention to kharkiv, but earlier this morning, russia violating a five-hour cease-fire in the hard

hit cities of mariupol in the east as civilians tried to flee. zelenskyy posting another video as proof of life and courage to the people affirming that he is still in kyiv and nobody ran away and we are still working he said, and i am here in my place. nato has accused russia of cluster bombs killing indi indiscrimina indiscriminantly. >> the suffering is likely to be longer as long as russia is pursuing the methods. >> reporter: nato is providing weapons and condemning russia for attacking this nuclear plant, but the fire was taken out, and no radiation detected and everywhere in this besieged country, men and women joining a budding resistance n. a bomb-proof basement, the men are

gas prices are hitting records in some places. >> good morning to you allsh and of course, eva, the prices are moving higher in many places, but the first place is at the gas pumps. if you are looking at the prices, $3.61 a gallon is last week, and in most places up 20 cents a gallon and oil trading at the highest level since 2008. gas buddy saying that prices could go up to $4 per gallon as per the national average as per tuesday. russia is among the top oil producers and any reduction in global supply is going to drive the prices higher. and if they stay at the current levels,fares could be higher, because jet fuel is likely to be higher, and so travel could cost you more money. ukraine is the bread basket of

europe, and fuel accounts for 12% of the wheat exports and 10% of the world's corn exports and the u.s. does not import a lot of wheat or corn from ukraine, but the longer this conflict lasts, the more that there will be fears of global shortages that is going to drive the prices higher, and eventually the production is more expensive and the food producers may feel the pressure and may pass along the prices to the consumers and most of the experts say that the russian and the ukrainian conflict would have to last months before americans pay more for cereal and bread and those items at the grocery, but gas is certainly on the up. >> the cost of everything is on the up. thank you, deirdre. and coming up, renowned chef andreas in ukraine, and what drives him to help those in need. and it is no holiday for the stars behind playing the material girl in an upcoming

andreas is doing that to go to the front lines to give food and hope to those who need it. we have the story from zorin shaw. >> if anybody is hungry, we will feed them and you know it. >> reporter: chef jose andres' passion is feeding people in war zones. he is in the front lines of the ukraine invasion feeding 30,000 people a day at border crossings in six countries. refugees arriving in neighboring countries and here in lviv, ukraine, in droves. >> as you can see, there are thousands of people here. >> reporter: the group working with local restaurants and caterers and food trucks and an army of volunteers to get the weary refugees a meal.

has swooped into the iconic role with zoe kravitz as cat woman in "the batman." first, here are the headlines we're following. russia announcing a limited cease-fire for two besieged ukrainian cities to the south and the east, offering humanitarian corridors for relief supplies, but that cease-fire has been reportedly broken. it was to potentially allow civilians to evacuate. officials once again saying that the shelling continues there in that cease-fire, it no longer exists. russian forces still advancing across the country as attacks on civilian targets intensify. >> a federal judge has approved a revised plan that would allow black retired nfl players who were denied payments in the billion dollar concussion settlement to be retested and resubmitted their claims. this comes after the test for concussion-related dementia were found to be racially biased. and a settlement in the federal trade commission's complaint against the company formerly known as weight watchers, ww international, paying a fine of $1.5 million

everybody keep it simple with the seasonings because lean protein can be flavorful. a little chili powder and oregano and cumin. look how good this looks. amaze, right? if you're not a fan of chicken, you can use some lean ground turkey. now, the other part of a good burrito are the veggies. i am just almost caramelizing some vegetables here. i have bell pepper and onion going. now, here's the trick. the savings on calories. people like to add in a whole bunch of butter and oil. my trick, watch this. this is just good old h2o, y'all. put that into the skillet, get it going, some steam, cover it up, and boom, you have vegetables. you are only using spray oil. you're cutting the calories that way as well. let's move to the other parts because burritos have more than meat and veggies. they have rice. so i've got some wonderful brown rice here that we're going to
