afternoon the jury reached a verdict abc 7 news reporter karina. nova is in the newsroom with more on why that is so important karina. well the jury reached the verdict just about an hour ago. deliberating for four days they found sfpd officer terrence dangle not guilty on three counts of brutality on the fourth count a mistrial was declared that charge was for assault under color of authority the district attorney's office spoke to us after the verdict. cases a reminder of the many challenges the uphill battle to hold police accountable. we saw a lot of those obstacles play out in this case including the unchecked power of the poa. we saw lack of diversity and juries and we also saw the tendency as often happens in these cases to criminalize a victim. the poa released a statement saying in part we are pleased that this jury focused on the facts evidence and the law and was not distracted by other factors in reaching their not
