when we have the wind, it brings a mixed bag of temperatures. we are sheltered from the wind, san ramon and livermore. depending on where you live, you may need a heavy jacket or a lighter layer. the east hills camera is bouncing around because of the wind so we will have a windy morning. the afternoon wind will back off but we are gradually climbing through the 60's and today is the coolest day we have this week with temperatures in the 60's. tonight, a frost advisory will go into effect. kumasi: in the north bay, hundreds of teachers are planning to walk out. reggie: demand is creating staffing issues, forcing the temporary closure of at least one school. amy hollyfield heading up to river field park. amy: if you are your child to school today, do not expect a normal school day.

the union is expecting that 94% of teachers will walk out today and will be on strike. the school district is sending classrooms to try to cover the gap but they do expect instruction will not be the same. this strike is about teacher pay. the teachers union for the school district wants a 14.6% pay raise over the next three years. the superintendent says the district cannot afford that. teachers say they cannot afford to live here. >> it's important to me because almost 50% of our members of our educators have been in the district for under five years, which means they might be making something in the low 50's. as we all know, california, the

cost of living is skyrocketing so essentially what's happening to all of these young professionals is that they can't afford to live here. they have roommates and second and third jobs. with a me for more. students at oakland unified schools will have to continue masking in class until after spring break. the superintendent says the district's indoor mask and eight will remain in effect until at least april 15. the usda plans to provide an update for the end of the month. reggie: the foreign ministers of russia and ukraine held a meeting in turkey. that comes as russia appears to be shifting to a more destructive phase of this war

reggie: former "empire" actor jussie smollett set to be sentenced by an illinois judge, convicted of falsely reporting to police that he was the victim of a hate crime. he faces up to three years in prison for each of the five felony counts. his attorneys are expected to ask the judge for the guilty verdict to be thrown out or a new trial. video shows oakland native ryan kugler in handcuffs after -- --- a bank after a teller believed he tried to rob her. this video is from january. according to atlanta police, kugler was withdrawing $12,000 from his account and slid a note
