family from fremont is back with relatives who escaped kyiv. ryan curry was there for the reunion. ryan: overwhelmed from emotions as he welcomes home his aunt and uncle. hugs and tears are a sign of relief knowing that some of his family are safe from the ongoing war. >> it is one less very call every day. ryan: his relatives are from the capital. his uncle says it is a difficult time for his country. he and his wife traveled through a series of buses and trains leaving for hungary before leaving for the bay area. >> the trains are all packed, a lot of people are trying to leave. ryan: ever since the war broke out, he and his wife have tried to stay in contact with family. once the fighting in the capital, his relatives left their homes. >> they live in the middle of

jobina is tracking everything. jobina: president biden address the democratic national convention taking steps to address what he called putin's price hikes. politicians are arguing over what is to blame. republicans say it is a result of president biden canceling the keystone pipeline project which was an effort by canada ship oil to processing plants in the u.s. for exports to other countries like china. >> the president's team wants to pretend this lengthy problem only started two weeks ago. >> most of the oil going through the keystone pipeline were scheduled to be exported. pres. biden: people are already feeling the price hikes at the pump. we are increasing oil production with record productivity by the end of the year and we will have produced more oil than any time in the number of years. kumasi: they, as the latest -- jobina: they come is the latest inflation report shows that

will arrive looking into what caused the caltrain crash that injured 1000 people. caltrain is warning riders that the crash will affect the commute, so this will be a pretty long term fix. jobina: it really is. they will operate bus bridges around the crash site until 4:00 this afternoon. buses will carry writers between south san francisco and millbrae stations. the bus bridge is likely to cause service delays going to and from those stations and they are asking people to consider other forms of transportation. reggie: we are posting updates about the story on abc7news.com. and on our streaming app. just search for abc 7 bay area the app store and you can get it now. kumasi: the british government sanctioned seven russian oligarchs including the owner of the chelsea soccer team. here is andrew dymburt. andrew: putting the pressure on

amy hollyfield is live in san bruno this morning. amy: they have the crash scene lit up, so even in the dark this morning you can still see the horrible aftermath. the truck flipped over onto its side, the burn marks on the train. we expect to see federal investigators out here today along with local investigators and all of them will try and figure out why there was equipment onhethe tinuient. this started a fire, 13 people were hurt and one person was burned and that person suffered the most severe injuries and that person was taken to the hospital. four others had moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital. eight others were treated at the scene. passengers describe what it was like trying to escape after the crash.

train that crashed at 10:40 yesterday morning. investigators will try and find out why there was a maintenance vehicle on the tracks and by communication broke down. they will offer a bus bridge for commuters as trains will not run through this section of the track. reporting live, amy hollyfield. kumasi: russia has launched missile attacks on ukraine's west for the first time and it comes as president biden is set to announce an end to normal trade procedures. jobina: finland's president is expected to talk with vladimir putin after speaking to president zelensky. putin says there are "certain positive movements in negotiations with ukraine." the emergency service says that

one person in the city of dnipro died after early morning airstrikes. the explosions hit the kindergarten, apartment building and shoe factory. new satellite images show that the russian military convoy largely discoursed with some vehicles in forests or residential areas. president biden is expected to strip russia of its most favored nation status allowing the white house to increase tariffs on russian goods. pres. biden: i think the american people know how important this fight is and they know that as painful as the price is today, the costs will be higher if we do not act now. jobina: russia requested a meeting of the united nations security council over its allegations that the u.s. is engaging in "military biological activities in ukraine." a spokeswoman dismissed the claim saying that it is a false flag effort that the kremlin could use to escalate its attacks. kumasi: thank you.

lori smith's embattled tenure is coming to an end. she announced she will not be running for reelection this year and is planning to retire in january. reggie: she has resisted calls amid legal -- for her resignation amid live russia made legal trouble. amanda: as a public official sometimes you make powerful energy -- enemies, that statement part of lori smith's message. after 50 years with the office, 24 years as sheriff. she will not run for reelection. professor greg woods weighs in. >> i think it is the best decision that laurie smith could have made. it allows us to restore trust with the introduced -- with the institution we understand that no leader is larger than the agency that they lead. amanda: smith has resisted calls for her resignation over a number of scandals including

kumasi: san francisco is kicking off festivities for st. patrick's day. they will host the annual raiskicking off a month-long celebration. the mayor will be joined by the united irish societies and irish community leaders. the annual st. patrick's day parade -- is it parade or day? anyway, there is an event at 11:30 a.m.. reggie: easter traditions are returning, the sisters were perpetual indulgence are bringing their celebration back to dolores park after a two year hiatus. the 43rd anniversary event is set for sunday april 13.
