shoulder and then overturned he suffered major injuries and was taken hospital his two-year-old passenger sadly died authorities say both were from richmond. police and morgan hill have made an arrest in a crime. they say was sparked by a social media challenge two teenagers face charges for shooting water beads from a passing car hitting two pedestrians both victims suffered minor injuries. however, similar incidents have been reported across the country police say they're part of a so-called orbeez challenge on tiktok orbeez is the name of the brand that makes those water bees. all right, let's move now to a wild accident in san francisco involving two fire trucks that crashed. racing to an emergency. it happened this afternoon on greenwich and laguna in the city's calhollow neighborhood abc 7 news reporter corina. nova has the story. sky 7 flew over the crazy scene in the cal hollow neighborhood of san francisco, the crash happened at the intersection of greenwich and laguna streets. trucks from different fire stations were heading to a call when they try to avoid each

other but crashed at the intersection shortly after noon one truck. also hit two parked cars with so much force one car ended up on top of the other that fire truck ended up almost hitting the gray apartment building the owner of the silver car. grant miller was home across treat at the time watching tv. how's expecting like a bracket buster, but this is a car buster. miller says that's no's no's n's that's like there's a car on top of my car like it's all crazy. i don't know like i'm still kind of in shock about it, you know. i bought that i worked hard for it and now it's just destroyed. leonard jonathan baxter with the san francisco fire department says there will be everything that. we played are the things that we're going to be looking into are training systems our expectations of our driver operators responding to an incident. all these things are going to be factored into this this

it's only up a little bit but as abc 7 news senior education reporter liam melendez explains. there's reason for optimism. san francisco francisco franciso 14,127 applications compared to 13,917 the year before for starters more four year olds were eligible for transitional kindergarten under california's new universal tk program now a child turning four between september and february can attend. we opened nine new transitional kindergarten classrooms across the city to accommodate all of those families and the demand for tk and our district. outreach also played a role in getting more families to sign up including helping them fill out the applications on time. it's pretty good process there. nice people in there. they making sure i get through everything correctly still it's not where the district would like to be during the pandemic public schools in san francisco saw about 3,500 students leave the district. that's a loss of six percent.

this means the district will get less in state funding per student. the district hopes the numbers will back to pre-pandemic levels as more families learn about the zone-based admissions policy new beginning in 2024. so zones will be composed of up to 12 schools that are closest to students home and so students will have a lot more predictability this coming monday families will be told where their children will be placed according to the district. 57% of students will get their first choice and more than 88% will receive one of their top three. choices families must respond by april 8 in san francisco lee ann abc 7 news high school students hosted a discussion with us senator alex padilla. it was held this morning at south san francisco high school, senator padilla discussed the confirmation process and historic nomination of us supreme court nominee. catanji brown jackson
