detectives would not say why they were there or what they were looking for. sky 7 was over the home on wednesday hours after the shooting. police were seen entering the upscale home. >> do you know his connection to the house? >> he is just a renter. >> shannon murphy says the house is about half mile from the shooting scene. >> my immediate reaction was surprise. worried for my family and my kids. >> police are not saying if gelati was targeted by a gunman in a passing car in the middle of the day. >> if it was a road rage incident, i'm hoping it is to random cars coming through. i hope it wasn't anything involved with the neighborhood. >> homicide detectives contacted neighbors asking about the home and victim. officials have no information on a motive or possible suspects at this time. their investigation continues. in lafayette, cornell barnard. >> authorities are investigating

two stabbings in separate locations last night leaving one person data, another badly injured, and the alleged killer dead, as well. deputies responded to a house in bernville, where they found damage consistent with the vehicle crashing into the home. inside, they found a man suffering from a stab wound who later died at the hospital. a second stabbing happened on river drive. that person in critical condition. the suspects body was later found in kernville. investigators are not saying how he died. >> after nearly three decades, investigators made an arrest at the deadly shooting of a san carlos shop owner back in 1993. zach fuentes was there as they made the announcement and had details on the possible motive. >> it was on april 26 that he was murdered. a husband, father, and owner in san carlos. police got a call that day nearly 29 years ago a man had

been shot. he had a single gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital, where he later died. police believe the murder was a robbery gone wrong. at the time, they knew an adult female was seen leaving the store, but who she was and who killed him was a mystery that gained national attention. the san mateo county sheriff's said the mystery has been solved. >> i can announce we have made an arrest and justice for mr. tang's family is at hand. >> this is the woman they arrested. an investigation led detectives to washington county, oklahoma. >> she was a resident at the time of the murder. >> his family was not at the conference today, but the sheriff's office said they were able to sit down and share the news they had been waiting to hear. >> the story is still in business 29 years later. though his death happened decades ago, his legacy is close to and felt by the current owner. he has newspapers from 1993 that

reported on his murder. he bought the store shortly after he was killed. he tells me he's relieved the suspect has been arrested, but it doesn't change the tragedy that happened. >> this gentleman never bad thing to any other people. >> sheriffs's are not saying how the link hoffman ramos to the death, or if she gave specifics as to what happened in the store. his son is hoping to find out. >> what happened 30 years ago. >> in san carlos, zach fuentes. >> blue shield of california donating $20,000 to the oakland post after leaders saw our story about the burglary at the weekly paper. surveillance video showed a man breaking into the building housing the post early wednesday morning. $10,000 worth of property was stolen. the nonprofit in the same building was burglarized. lou shield donating $5,000 to

the organization. a spokesperson said the post newspaper is a vital part of the news ecosystem in oakland and the black community, and blue shield reached out to be of assistance to the paper and nonprofit. >> governor newsom was in napa where he held a third of his series of roundtable discussions on his so-called care court plan. the governor discussed it with local and state leaders at napa state hospital. his plan would require all counties to set up a mental health branch in civil court and provide comprehensive and community-based treatment for those suffering debilitating psychosis. it would force some into care. california's old system has failed and the governor says it is trying -- time to try something new. >> our approach is novel in california's recent, perhaps historically in our entire history, an approach we think is long overdue. >> a report released yesterday by professors called governor newsom's measure and affront to

destroyed a russian ship near a critical russian occupied port city in the southern part of the country. defense officials say the russian military has been pushed back to 34 miles outside of the capital. to the north, the russians are in defensive positions. president biden supports removing russia from the g20 group of nations as punishment for its invasion of ukraine. the president added he made it very clear to the chinese president china will face consequences if there is military support for the kremlin. elizabeth schulze, washington. >> the state department confirmed it finally made contact with detained wnba star brittney griner. officials were allowed to visit and say she is in good condition. the seven-time wnba all-star was arrested in february at a moscow airport for possessing vaped cartridges containing hash oil. the 31-year-old plays basketball

through as well. a quick update on the drought situation. further bay area and the north, it has gotten worse. extreme drought category expanding across parts of the north bay. something to keep in mind. we do have rain coming sunday and monday. it will not erase what has been years in the making. we are in severe to extreme drought category in most areas. here's a live view. you can see the fog rolling in. fog and high clouds overnight. mild inland. cool the next few days. rain and wind coming sunday afternoon and evening. onshore winds gusting to 33. this is the wind direction that will advance the fog. it is already near the bay. it will continue moving across the bay overnight. temperatures reflect the fog and where it is sitting. the sea breeze, low 50's near the coast. temperatures into the upper 70's to low 80's inland.

onlookers on tuesday. animal control officers were right behind it. the mountain lion ran into a building with an open door. a veterinarian was able to tranquilize it. it was evaluated, tagged, and released to the wild. >> some sad news. from the folks at the san francisco zoo. they have lost one of their most beloved attractions. the sumatran tiger who lived at the zoo for over 15 years has passed away. she was almost 19 years old, out the life expectancy for tigers by more than eight years. the cause of death is unclear. but leanne has had a series of recent health problems. >> we are just days away from the oscars right here on abc7. and we can't talk about the awards show without talking about the fashion. >> some designers and manufacturers are creating dresses amid the chaos in the war in ukraine. veronica miracle has that story.
