akeaction. reggie: the san jose mayor has made his pitch to build a better bay area. automated speed enforcement cameras. the proposal is not without pushback. amanda: addressing the transportation committee monday, san jose mayor sam lopardo for automated speed cameras as a tool to reduce beating. the push comes at a time when traffic fatalities in san jose continue at record pace. >> we know that 30% of those fatalities, speeding was a key cause of the pollution that cause of the collision. -- because of the collision. amanda: assembly bill 23 -- 36 would allow places like san jose, oakland, san francisco, and others to establish a speed safety system pilot program.

police responded to a report of a person with a gun inside ta cqueria early sunday morning. the department tweeted photos of what they say is a fight in a struggle over a gun inside the restaurant. they release this body camera image showing a man holding a gun. police have not made any arrests. the person who was shot by the officer is expected to survive. kumasi: we are learning more about governor newsom's plan to save water. california is already facing drought conditions as we head into our driest months of the year. news reporter amy hollyfield is showing us more of what the governor wants to see happen. amy: do you think that shrubs and plants, decorative s ones should be watered? the governor says they should not end this part of his plan calling for districts to cut back their use of water by 10% to 20%. he wants state regulars to ban

the watering of decorative plants. this plan does not include golf courses or homes. he is calling on local districts to cut their use as we start this year off as one of the driest on record. some districts like santa clara are already asking residents to use less water. >> we saw a record start to our year. here we are at the end of march. we did not have the miracle march we hope for. we had record dry weather. we are heading into the dry months. everybody should know that this is a serious situation. everyone needs to take it seriously and take action and take conservation seriously. amy: that district is already asking residents to cutback their water usage by 15%. the governor wants water districts to enact their level two water saving plans, which could limit the number of days that residents can water their lawns. he says it is time for aggressive water saving efforts. he says if we ban watering shrubs like these, then we could

kumasi: the fda could authorize a second booster shot for americans over 50 years old as soon as today. shots will be offered, not formally recommended so it leaves it up to people to make their own decision based on

factors like health and age. the fda will consider a second booster for rest of americans. this is coming amid growing concern about the omicron subvariant ba.2 and that it could fuel a surge. it is on track to become the dominant strain. the cdc says nearly 150 wastewater sites across the country are reporting at least eight doubling -- doubling in positive tentative -- positive samples. reggie: dropping vaccine and testing requirement on friday. it will be recommended to show proof of vaccination or evidence of a recent negative covid-19 test. that is in line with the modification chase center announced last week that also takes effect this friday. this addresses the mask policy depends on the preference of each event promoter. the sharks next home game is saturday against the dallas stars. kumasi: this year's oscars highlighted diversity with "
