they search for the gunmen. good evening and thank you for joining us. to developing news on that shooting. this is the heart of sacramento's downtown entertainment district. cornell bernard has been there gathering information. he joins us live. at least six people are dead, all adult. three men, three women. this is when a fight began and all of this followed. >> we were probably about three blocks away. it was like that sounded crazy. >> gunfire echoing through

sacramento, transforming a lively part of downtown into a horrific crime scene. the mass shooting took place around 2:00 p.m. near a strip of nightclubs in the center here. >> we know that a large fight took place prior to the shootings and we have confirmed there are multiple shooters. i want some answers. >> she heard that her son was one of those killed. >> my son has a wife, children. all of that. all of that is gone? because somebody wanted to pull out a gun and spray people? that is not right. >> told the young man to stay off the streets and playing these games. >> darrell steinberg calling for

gun violence to end. he says more police on patrol probably could not have prevented this tragedy. >> somebody drove by and in an instant unloaded a rapid fire weapon, injuring many more. i don't know how in that instance you can prevent that kind of a random tragedy. >> many are looking for answers. another brother killed by gun violence. >> until we get together and stop this community violence, there is no way we can expect the police to quit killing us. there is no way we can fight the system. if we are still fighting each other. >> we believe this tent on k street is where police are processing hundreds of pieces of evidence here. multiple suspects are still at large.

this may help lead to an arrest. for now, the mayor says capital city is one with a broken heart. >> so much left to be done. many thanks to you. governor newsom released a statement about the shooting, saying that we once again won the lives lost and for those injured in yet another horrendous act of gun violence. jennifer and i sent our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and wider community impacted by this terrible tragedy. and video posted on social media shows just how close the shooting happened to stay capitol building, just a three minute walk away. it is also about three blocks from the center were tyler the creator held a concert last night. that show ended several hours before the surely -- the shooting early this morning.

>> a daily city family is offering a $10,000 reward in hopes of finding and committing whoever attacked their grandfather in his yard. this is him gardening in his front lawn. the crime was all caught on camera on march 25. the man comes up from behind and kicks him in the back. his family says this is the second time he has been attacked. it happened once in 2020 and that is when the family

installed cameras around the house. >> this time, it is too much. >> he was literally jumping from behind. he had to go through it twice so we want to cash this bad guy, we want to cash this criminal. >> the suspect ran away into the neighborhood. moving to south bay where three people are in the hospital with serious injuries sustained during sideshows. there were two separate incidents near lundy avenue and concourse drive. one of them suffered broken bones and a head injury. the driver that hit them was arrested. the second person suffered a broken leg and the suspect fled the scene. in the north bay, a partial building collapse in downtown santa rosa is under investigation.

-- spinal muscular atrophy. the condition progressively destroys neural cells that control muscle movements like breathing, walking and swallowing. a gene therapy developed could eventually save her life but it is one of the most expensive drugs out there. at $2.1 million price tag. the aunt lives in the bay area. she held a fundraiser luncheon at opposed church in san jose. >> we need to collect the money as quickly as possible. it is not that she only has two years to live, the muscles and nerves will die and there is no way we can reverse that. >> the story has mobilized many generous people worldwide into donating. her aunts tells us that the family still needs additional help for that treatment. and we do want to share a touching moment with you captured in the middle of a war zone.

the sunlight reflecting off the bay waters from emeryville here. 71 in mountain view. 67 in santa clara. at the golden gate, we see mainly blue skies but thin and high clouds are increasing right now. in the north bay, 73°. shifting eastward. concord, 74. livermore is 69°. here is the view out over san francisco. breezy and slightly cooler conditions. it is warming that begins midweek. by thursday we can expect the heat to peak within that high temperatures in the 90's. tonight it won't be mild or warm. we see clouds increasing during the overnight hours. there is a little wave of moisture coming into the northernmost part of our viewing area. it may produce some light sprinkles or really isolated and light rain through the northernmost part of snow county

but by midday, that system will have dissipated and we will get some partial clearing. overnight lows in the mid 40's and in the upper 40's right around the bay shoreline. also, lows on the coast. highs tomorrow, 57 in half moon bay. mid 60's right around the bay shoreline. this will be our mildest region right here. we will see upper 60's in the north bay. skip ahead to wednesday is that intense warm-up begins. we will see in land highs in the upper 80's and upper 70's. near 70 on the coast. our average high temperature ranges from 63 to 70. we will see much -- low to mid 90's. upper 70's to near 80 on the coast. cooley begins at the coast on friday. it will be pretty warm in land. here is the accuweather 7-day forecast. tuesday, upper 80's.
