street as investigators searched for the gunmen. sacramento city leaders more into the lives lost and grappled with armand's act of gun violence. >> our community deserves better than this. i know this is not a national -- i know this is a national epidemic. we can stop it here. >> good evening and thank you for joining us. we do may be difficult to watch. gunfire. the video shows the chaos that ensued with people screaming and running for their safety. all of this happened outside the club earlier on k and 10th street.

we know of 18 victims, 12 are recovering and the hospital. cornell bernard has been there all day gathering information and joins us live. >> such a tragedy here in sacramento. police say that at least six people are dead. this is when a fight began and gunfire followed. too many families are now searching for answers. >> gunfire echoing through sacramento earlier saturday. turning a lovely part of downtown into a horrific crime scene. police said the mass shooting took place around 2:00 a.m. in the 1000 block of k street near a strip of nightclubs. >> we know a large fight took place just prior to the shootings and we have confirmed

that there are multiple sugars -- shooters. >> i have a child laying out there and i want some answers. >> pamela harris waited hours to hear that tragic news. >> my son has a wife and children and all of that is gone. that is not right. >> frank turner learned his 29-year-old son lost his life. >> tell the gentleman to stay out of the streets. darrell steinberg calling for the gun violence to end. more police on patrol could not have prevented the tragedy. >> we don't know what happened but if somebody drove by in an instant and unloaded a rapid fire weapon, killing at least six people, injuring many more, i don't know how in that instance you can prevent that

kind of a random tragedy. >> many are looking for answers. his brother, stephan clark was killed. another brother killed by gun violence. >> until we get together and stop this community violence, there is no way we can expect place to kill us. -- stop killing us. >> we believe this tent is where police are processing hundreds of pieces of evidence including a stolen handgun found at the scene. police are making a plea to the public for any video taken tonight that could help lead to an arrest. we are live in sacramento. abc seven news. corrects the issue of public safety always seems to come up after incidents such as this.

>> we have been talking to the people who have lived here and they say k street, downtown sacramento has been in transition since the pandemic began. my, restaurants slowly revenue but there have been acts of violence not far from where we are. there have been multiple shootings in old sacramento but nothing like what we saw overnight. police and the mayor says he is making a commitment to public safety but he insists that his city is safe. >> alright, many thanks to you, great job out there. governor newsom released a statement about the shooting saying that we once again mourned the lives lost and for those injured in yet another horrendous act of gun violence. jennifer and i sent our

heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and community impacted by this terrible tragedy. and video posted on social media shows just how close the shooting happened to the state capitol building. it is also about three blocks from where tyler the creator held a concert last night. that show ended several hours before the shooting earlier this morning. the warriors are playing against the kings at the golden one center. i want to bring in chris alvarez with reaction from steve kerr ahead of tonight's game. steve is never afraid to use his platform. >> there will be a moment of silence ahead of tonight's game. coach kerr always so thoughtful and says the sacramento tragedy was devastating. >> we have more regulations for driving a car.

>> this family is offering a 10 $1000 reward in the hopes of finding and convicting the person who attacked their 84 your grandfather in his yard. this video may be difficult to watch. that is solomon hernandez gardening and his front yard. a man comes out from behind and kicks him in the back.

the family says this is the second time he has been attacked because it happened once in 2020. that is when the family installed cameras around his house. >> this time it is too much. it is too much. >> he was junk from behind. he had to go through it twice. we want to catch this bad guy, we want to catch this criminal. >> so traumatizing. that suspect then ran away into the neighborhood. to the south bay where three people are in the hospital with serious injuries. these two bystanders were hit. one of them suffered broken bones and a head injury and the driver that hit them was arrested. a second person suffered a broken lead -- broken leg. in the north bay, a partial building collapse in downtown santa rosa is under investigation. firefighters said the awning of

time of violence and chaos, there is still that love to be had. those moments of humanity give me a lot of hope. >> does it hope and lift your spirit and gives you something to smile about. here is a look at what is happening with your weather. things will take a dramatic change around mid week. we are looking at gusty winds. these are under mainly sunny skies and 24 hour temperature change with this turn sharply cooler. about 9° cooler in san francisco and over there. here is a look at the lovely view in the western sky. we saw some sunlight left. it is currently 56° in san francisco. low to mid 60's in santa clara. beautiful blue skies for the most part. we can see how windy it is.

the clouds will be increasing. 72 hours in santa rosa. 70 in concord. 63 in livermore. we will also take a look at the forecast as breezy and slightly cooler tomorrow. summerlike warming begins. it begins midweek and the heat will peak on thursday with in land highs in the 90's. lots of high clouds moving over. a few low clouds as well. notice of a wave of moisture way up to our north. there may be a sprinkler to reaching down into northern sonoma county. there could be some isolated and light rain for us. that will be just about it. the system will dissipate by midday. overnight low temperatures will be mainly in the mid to upper 40's. highs tomorrow in the mid to upper 50's at the coast. low 70's in land.
