downtown sacramento this video showing the chaos that unfolded as several rounds of gunfire. hung out witnesses describe the scene. we're right there on that wall over there like just leaned up against the all and it had happened right down there across the street. and then we had just turned in the alley and then everybody was running against each other like running into each other and yeah. crazy one man with a bullet hole through his car. i heard gunshots. and then after the gunshots, i heard people people just start diving down the ground and falling down and the next thing i know i someone fell in front of my truck sacramento police say six people died 12 more were shot and suffered injuries to varying. trees, we know that a large fight took place just prior to the shootings and we have confirmed that there are multiple shooters police say they did recover a stolen gun at the scene the events shocking the sacramento community from the upper echelons of power. we want people to come downtown

news pamela harris describes a sleepless night where she says her mother's intuition told her something had happened to one of her sons that their phone call. i just jump straight up and said, what's wrong? i know somebody's hurt. when my husband said it was sergio and i just i was just like in ours i couldn't think straight sergio was one of men and three women killed in a mass shooting outside a nightclub near the state capitol sunday morning pamela spent hours at the scene near the corner of 10th and k street. that's where she recalled her son's vivacious nature fun to be around like the party. have fun smiling all the time, you know, don't bother people the busy shopping. dining district is also where sergio's wife leticia began describing the moments. she last saw her husband unable to continue stricken with grief went to the mall. they went to the park.

so that sacramento's mayor darrell steinberg speaking at multiple, press conferences sunday called the gun violence plaguing the country and his city a sickness. frank turner the father of one of the deceased made this call to action charlie john ministry out streets quit playing his games. that are stunning their lives sacramento police say there were multiple shooters and our processing hundreds of pieces of evidence as for pamela. she has not had time to grieve. i'm just numb right now, but as the investigation years 24 hours makes this plea to law enforcement. i just want to know something. that's all i just want them to just tell me. tell our family something so we can do what we have to do. try to move on. governor newsom released a statement about the shooting

san francisco neighborhood is shaken tonight following a shooting near a playground at least two people are dead and two others injured according to a san francisco supervisor. here's abc 7 news. order tara campbell following this developing story. heavy police presence into the night two people shot and killed in san francisco's crocker amazon neighborhood supervisor. asha safaii passing along information from police. we know that there are four victims of this senseless act of gun violence, unfortunately to have passed away and two others. he says were injured. it's sad, my heart goes out to the victims and their families police called to the scene of brunswick street late sunday afternoon, maria van. lives less than a block away and she's shocked by the shooting.

inland temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s in the hottest locations. now for tonight, we'll just see lots of passing clouds some high clouds in mid-level clouds, maybe even a little here and there the morning commute will take place under cloudy conditions. it will be dry until about mid-morning when we'll see a few most farther northern part of our viewing area between ukiah and cloverdale other parts of northern sonoma county and i get a sprinkler or two. this will not be very widespread and one amount to much maybe one or 200th of an inch and it'll be all over but the clouds will linger going into the afternoon hours rainfall estimates. we predict will be about a hundredth of an inch of clear lake maybe up to 300. so cloverdale and if that that sprinkle or the coastline maybe half moon bay will get about 100th of an inch. that's about it. we need a lot more than that, but that's all we're going to overnight low temperatures will be mainly in the mid to upper 40s mid-40s on the coast and in our inland valleys upper 40s near the bay and tomorrow's highest down on the south bay 69 at san jose 72 at morgan hill on

shooters abc 7 news reporter cornell bernard has more on this story. we were probably about three blocks away. we heard it and it was like batman and we're like, oh man that sounded crazy gunfire echoing through sacramento early sunday transforming a lively part of downtown into a horrific crime scene dozens of shell casings now litter the ground, but let's say the mass shooting took place around 2 am and the 1,000 block of k street near a strip of nightclubs and the golden 1 center. we know that a large fight took place just prior to the shootings and we have confirmed. that there are multiple shooters a mode of still unknown i have a is laying out there. and i wanted i want some answers. harris waited hours to hear the tragic news that her son sergio harris was one of those killed my son has a wife he has children. all that and all that's gone. because somebody wanted to pull out a gun and just spray everybody up is coming out the

now you heard sacramento mayor darryl steinberg say there how this tragedy happened in an instant at a news conference earlier today. he spoke passionately about the larger problem this shooting reflects. the chief alluded to the unacceptable increase in gun violence. i want to remind all of you of a day not so long ago pre-covid. when the city went two years without a single homicide involving sacramento's youth two years. and now we are living in a different era and then there is the issue of guns. and of course, this is not a sacramento issue. it's a national issue. no surprise that any city. would be hit with this kind of terrible event. but here is what i know. it is beyond time to have a sane conversation about guns in america. we have a sickness. it's a sickness in our country. it's a sickness in our culture can't we agree?
