>> ukraine also claims russian forces abducted 11 ukrainian mayors killing at least one. em nguyen is here with the very latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, mona. as the suburbs of kyiv are liberated new video reports what's being described as a massacre. the images are disturbing. this morning in ukraine authorities accuse russian forces of committing war crimes as they withdrew from areas around the capital. in bucha, a liberated city northwest of kyiv bodies are seen in the streets. some victims with their hands bound. others shot at close range. local officials say there's evidence some were tortured. the mayor says hundreds have been buried from a mass grave. this imagine appears to show a 45-foot trench near a church. ukrainian president zelenskyy

new video of some frightening moments in the sky above southern california. sightseers were enjoying this hot air balloon ride in riverside county when the winds picked up. te basket plummet etted to the ground before it was dragged across the dirt. you can hear the guy yelling for everyone to hang on. remarkably they did and everyone was okay. we turn now to the search for a missing florida mother ending tragically one week after she went missing. a prayer vigil was held last night for cassie carli hours after she was found in a shallow grave. abc's rhiannon ally has the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: this morning, authorities are trying to determine how a florida mother ended up dead one week after she was reported missing. an autopsy is scheduled for

today after 37-year-old cassie carli's body was found this weekend. >> she touched so many people and was an amazing mother. >> reporter: and now the father of carli's daughter is in custody. authorities say it all started last sunday night when carli went to meet her ex-boyfriend, marcus spanovelo in the florida panhandle to drop off their 4-year-old daughter. police say carli went missing after that scheduled custody drop-off. her car and purse were found two days later, but authorities say spanovelo was not helping with the investigation. and then they say he left florida. >> it's your baby's mother, and she's missing, and you're not going to cooperate with authorities. that's kind of telltale. >> reporter: police tracked him down in tennessee, arresting him friday, charging him with tampering with evidence, carli's cell phone, and providing false information regarding a missing person's case. then saturday night, officials say they found carli's body inside of a shallow grave in a barn in alabama.

they say the property is connected to spanovelo, but they're not saying how they were led to the property. meanwhile, carli's daughter sailor remains in protective custody. she's expected to be reunited with her family soon. >> sailor was the only good thing to come out of my sister meeting marcus. >> reporter: officials expect more answers today from the autopsy. regarding how carli died and more charges to be filed against her ex-boyfriend, who's still in custody in tennessee. mona, andrew. >> rhiannon, thank you. several states are pushing for a later start to the school day to address the mental health crisis facing children across the country. they're looking to follow california, which is the first state to require high schools to start no earlier than 8:30 a.m. the change is aimed at allowing teens to get better sleep. health experts say students who don't get enough sleep are more likely to be inattentive, perfect poorly in school, and show symptoms of depression.
