the tea cup? what is that? >> they are coming for us. >> there's a reason everyone does the tea cup. that's all we'll say about that. >> is there now? >> we'll get to that. don't worry. good morning, america. great to have you with us. so great to have janai norman here defending the tea cup. >> i have no idea what this is. we're learning now. janai, good to have you. we have a lot to cover on this saturday morning. we going to start with the latest out of ukraine. overnight president volodymyr zelenskyy calling a deadly russian missile attack on a packed train station another war crime. that attack killing at least 52 people and injuring dozens more. among the dead, children. now slovakia is sending its s-300 surface to air system to ukraine to help in the fight. the u.s. is replacing it with a patriot missile system manned by u.s. service members. >> this as president zelenskyy is calling on world leaders for a firm global response to the deadly violence. terry moran is in lviv with the latest.

good morning, terry. >> reporter: good morning, eva. the russian armed forces have been stymied on the battlefield by the ukrainian army. that's one reason officials believe they're stepping up attacks on ukrainian civilians, trying to demoralize people, break the spirit of this country. none of those attacks have been more savage than the one in kramatorsk. we want to alert people the images are disturbing. this morning there's worldwide condemnation of russia's latest horrific attack on ukrainian civilians. >> it's a war crime. >> reporter: a russian missile slammed into a crowded train station where thousands of people were trying to flee their homes. in an instant a hellish scene, bodies scattered on the ground. the remnants of a rocket with the words for the children written in russian. this blood-spattered toy left behind. at least 50 people were killed

and at least 100 wounded in the city of kramatorsk where russians are set to launch a major offensive. ukrainian officials say 4,000 people were at or near the station when the missile hit. they were heeding government warnings to leave the area in advance of the russian assault. "the new york times" reports an effort to evacuate that area by bus is now under way. here's the scene at the station just a day before, bustling with women and children. after the strike, a car engulfed in flames, a body on the ground. this aid worker with world central kitchen was near the station when the missile hit. >> the scene was catastrophic. the damage was spread out from the platform all the way to the outside of the station. there were many casualties we could see, dozens of casualties. >> reporter: russia denies they're responsible for the attack. the kremlin says ukrainian forces did it. the pentagon isn't buying that.

>> this was a russian strike and they used a short-range ballistic missile to conduct it. [speaking foreign language] >> reporter: president zelenskyy declared that accountability for these crimes is inevitable. ukrainian leaders, mayors, governors and other leaders in the eastern part of the country are telling people to leave that part of the country. many coming here in lviv. that is where the decisive battle is going to be fought in the coming weeks. they're concerned obviously about what russia might do. janai? >> we're seeing how difficult it can be to escape the violence. terry, thank you. turning to home and the white house. president biden celebrating the historic confirmation of judge ketanji brown jackson to the u.s. supreme court. abc's white house correspondent maryalice parks is in washington. maryalice, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the white house press secretary said sometimes history is exhausting and sometimes it is joyful.

yesterday was a joyful day in history. president biden wore his signature sunglasses to the celebrate the confirmation of his first supreme court nominee, judge ketanji brown jackson and the history she has now made. he said it was not only a sunny day, but the kind of day that would bring sunshine to many. the president also said he knew it would not be easy for the first black woman nominated to the highest court, but that he thought the kinds of questions she faced during her hearings amounted to verbal abuse. he applauded how she handled herself under the pressure. he said it showed the kind of jurist he thought she would be -- fair, thoughtful, careful, precise. when judge jackson took the podium she thanked those in the crowd who guided her. then she moved from herself to her place in history. she noted that it took more than 230 years and 115 other appointments for a black woman to be selected for the supreme court.

she says this time is different. she has the photos to prove it. take a look. she instagrammed this image of herself in a bikini posting i enjoyed a good, proud cry today. saying i've gained and lost 100 pounds three times. i never thought this moment could or would happen, but finally spring breaking wearing a bikini. simpson giving credit to hard work, determination and self-love. now she vowed recently to give herself treats as an incentive. i'm on board with that. certainly it worked. >> #treatyourself. zohreen, thank you for that. joining us now with what you need to know is abc medical contributor dr. darien sutton. dr. sutton, great to have you back. what should people know about dramatic fluctuations in weight? >> good morning, janai. fluctuations in weight can be harmful. there was a study in 2017 by the new england journal of medicine.

it found that those who had fluctuations in their weight were more likely to develop type ii diabetes. the thinking is that constantly stressing your body hurts how your body manages blood sugar. it's important if you have a goal of losing weight you do that over time with a stable concept. >> when it comes to weight and how you look and how you feel, there's so much stress surrounding that. dr. sutton, what are some healthy approaches to maintaining weight? >> the first recommendation that i give to every patient is your journey is your journey and it's specific to you. talk to your provider about medications or medical reasons why you might have trouble losing weight or have difficult in the fact you're gaining weight. what are you eating? number one, hydration. many of us are dehydrated. the average person needs two liters of water a day. increasing your diet with fibrous foods to help you feel

more full after meals. also, how are you eating? i'm guilty of this. distracting yourself while eating is not good. we like to sit in front of the television and have a good meal. we look at food as comfort. food is fuel. eat without distractions. make a grocery list to tailor what you're going to eat and have healthy options for snacking. then, of course, exercise. studies show the average person needs 30 minutes of moderate exercise a day to decrease their risk of cardiovascular disease and help them lose weight. >> food is fuel. dan harris has talked about mindful eating. >> i've seen dan do some mindful eating. his mind and belly were full. it's time for "pop news." let's bring in faith abubey who is here today. >> welcome. >> thank you. it's so weird having the queen of pop sitting next to me. >> the queen of pop? i'll take it. you got it, girl. >> we have a lot to cover this

>> we'll have much more on that in "binge this." a busy saturday morning here. here's some of the headlines. the omicron subvariant fueling a resurgence of covid cases in the u.s. 21 states and territories have seen an increase of 10% in the last week. 13 states seeing an uptick in hospitalizations. up 10% or more in the past week. health experts warn most americans who take home tests -- those at-home tests are not reporting results so the numbers are likely higher. the faa is proposing the largest fines ever against two unruly airline passengers. they want close to $82,000 from a passenger who allegedly hit and spit at flight attendants and tried to open the cabin door on an american airlines flight in july. $77,000 from another passenger on a delta flight in july who allegedly tried to exit the flight and bit a passenger.

the faa announced more than $3.5 million in fines just since last year. long distance runner oz pearlman broke the record for the most miles run in central park in a day. he completed 17 loops of the park on friday which comes out to more than 100 miles. it was part of a fundraiser for ukraine that brought in more than $100,000. >> certainly getting some attention. we turn to cherry blossoms in bloom. ike ejiochi is at the national cherry blossom festival parade in washington, d.c. he is leading the parade. good morning, ike. >> reporter: good morning. i'm continuing my campaign of bothering people who are trying to practice. sorry about that. you know, here on constitution we're here with the walton high school marching band. this is cameron. i said i was going to embarrass her in front of everybody today. i used to be in the marching

we want to turn to trouble. this is a very serious and urgent story. trouble brewing for the so-called tea pot pose. you know the one with the hand on the hip, very popular on the red carpet. tiktok has us striking a different pose. take a look. it's the go-to pose for millennials that rocks the red carpet, known as the tea pot pose. now gen-z is stirring up a tiktok takedown. pleading with millennials to leave the trend behind. >> having this hyperawareness of how we look on the internet has led us to freeze up into the tea pot pose instead of exploring other things. we know it's reliable. >> reporter: gen-z opting for more natural poses like the walking man, no photos please and then there's the raptor or posing like you're holding an invisible purse. it's the tea pot's cousin.

was called the skinny arm pose. between gen-z coming for us and you calling it the newscaster pose i'm feeling personally attacked. what about a pose for beach vacation pics? >> yes. well, this one has actually been something that celebrities have done a lot on the red carpet. it's the illusion of looking taller, slimmer, longer. i call it the baby giraffe. it's one foot in front of the other and elongating yourself. sort of slim down to a point. look at the newly engaged j.lo. she's the disciple of all this. she knows. you know, that really is an optical illusion pose. it brings all your eye and draws to a longer and elongated silhouette. >> the baby giraffe, i see it all the time on instagram.
