north bay during the early morning hours. so here is how it plays out. by 5:00 tomorrow morning, the rain is north of santa rosa. during the morning commute when a lot of kids are getting ready for school, you will need the umbrella. it starts to spread throughout the peninsula and the east bay and by midday, it extends past the south bay. this system is also bringing snow up to the sierra. for us, rainfall amounts generally less than a quarter inch. for most areas, may be near 1/10 of one inch, and we could see a little bit more toward some of the santa cruz mountains. the system that will bring snow to the sierra is going to bring about 14 inches over the peaks and generally around 2-5 inches above 4500 feet, so carry your chains if you are driving through the area and be prepared for reduced visibility and some slippery roads. great news for some folks who do have spring break this week.
