long-term immunity like the vaccines used against polio and measles the increase in covid numbers is prompting some health officials to reinstate mask mandates, but will that be the case here abc 7 news reporter dustin dorsey shows us why local doctors are focusing on one key metric. it will be a busy weekend with people across the bay area celebrating easter and passover for many you will be the first time gathering without restrictions and years but doctors want to remind everyone covid-19 is still a dangerous threat. the recognitions really haven't changed if you're gathering with people at this weekend, just like any other gathering you want to make sure that people around you are not symptomatic people haven't had recent exposures and especially find out if everyone around you has been vaccinated because that is best way to prevent the transmission now transmission has seen an uptick across the country and the bay area numbers are not immune our abc 7 covid-19 tracker shows the bay area seven day rolling average

table as long as hospitalizations. stay low. it's entirely possible that we're gonna see you recommendations come out in the next couple weeks if beat cases of ba2 continue to rise, but i don't see a mandate really coming back into place unless we see an uptake in hospitalizations or severe cases, which fortunately we aren't right now with that said doctor patel says, explosations have followed case numbers rising in the so be cautious covid-19 is still with us this holiday weekend in the south bay dustin dorsey abc 7 news. also in the south bay a proposal to make outdoor dining a permanent fixture that is in the works right now the plan focuses. on two popular san jose streets, san pedro which is still closed off to vehicle traffic and post street, which opened back up to traffic earlier this year abc 7 news reporter zach fuentes spoke with businesses and outdoor dining customers. it's a beautiful san jose on san pedro street where people used to drive tables now stand allowing dozens of people to enjoy alfresco dining. we just like to eat outside. i mean, well, i feel like i work
4:04 pm
inside all day and so when i come out to eat, i like to be outdoors, so and the weather's nice the san jose downtown association tells me that the outdoor dining setup has been great for restaurants. here, but the temporary emergency ordinance that close the street to traffic is set to expire councilmember raul perales has proposed extending the ordinance that close the street until next march while the city works to make the closure permanent if we're gonna do it permanently, right? there's some challenges with with for instance public safety. fire access we're gonna need to invest in some infrastructure paralysis proposal also addresses addresses post street. it was close. earlier in the pandemic and reopened in january under the proposal the street would close from thursday evening to sunday. not all businesses in the area like the original closure saying it took away convenient parking for some customers one bar manager. i spoke with enjoyed that previous street closure and says that a hybrid enclosure may be the perfect compromise. there's little parking on the street anyway so foot traffic if it looked nice down here could be a destination.
4:05 pm
back on san pedro street, a full closure is also not popular with every business either. we have a meeting next week with our property owners and business owners on this street to talk about it. we know it is something that not everybody is supporting a full closure. so will there be a plan b the proposal will be brought to the city council rules committee on wednesday if approved it will then move on to the full board for a vote in san jose zach fuentes abc 7 news and you're looking at live pictures of another beautiful sunny day in the bay area today look at that, but that is about to change. yes abc 7 news meteorologist sandy patel here with a first look at the weekend forecast, which does feature some rain in sandia. yeah. it's hard to believe valerian kristen. let me show you right now what it looks like outside from our exploratorium camera. savor the sunshine enjoy the day today because things are changing quickly as we had towards the overnight hours on live doppler.

embarrassing photos and financial information. i mean really do people need to see that or you know. a finances. i don't know kristen. what about you? i would love to have zero digital footprint like type in my name. nothing comes up. great having us. yeah. it's not gonna happen larry. no, it's it's i mean, there's too much stuff out there already. it's it's and it's it's kind of hard to you know to cleanse everything if you want to do that. it's impossible. yeah can't keep up. happy birthday to san francisco. come on. no one else is joining. okay, how to dry here april 15th, 1850 the city of san francisco was created incorporated and that makes the city 172 years old today. that's right. 415 day it's also easy to remember since the city's area code is also 415 coincidence. i think not so why not take today to show your san francisco pride and do something.
4:42 pm
that's decidedly san francisco. that's really san francisco in the city. what would you do dion oh, this is a good one. how abo a crab sandwich on a dutch? crunch roll sounds delicious, right? let's go. what about you sandia? i know i would have to say just go and enjoy the beautiful weather that we have here in the bay area. it's so unique. we have a nice mediterranean climate. how about you larry? you know, i haven't been to alcatraz in a long time and what i find is that you know when you have visitors come in then you figure out i mean obviously, you know outside of the pandemic, you know, you rally the forces and everybody gets together, but when we live here we tend to not do that and i think sometimes we miss out on opportunities. do fun stuff that is considered touristy or whatever. but yeah. i love alcatraz like you're not agree more. for me eating some sourdough would be very francisco well,
4:43 pm
yeah chowder and a bread bowl, i mean all that. oh, that's all good good or you can eat peeps eastern peeps go hand in hand the controversial. andy is the most popular easter candy based on an analysis over the last two weeks keeps with the number one easter candy followed by jelly beans and cadbury eggs easter is one of the biggest holidays for candy sales falling just behind christmas and halloween. why is everybody laughing right now? the easter bunny? it's his name is not ken. he's the easter bunny peep. s from this grown man's basket. do it do it for deon do it. oh, you're all watching me. yes. now you're gonna eat on camera your worst fear. okay, and i think oh easter bunny. i think you're the only one. watch this watch this.
4:44 pm
oh, no, you're tearing the peep apart. oh, that's a lot of anger and range there your dress is actually the same color as the peep which is interesting we should probably blame, you know how this came to be right that this is our colleague ken who's very respectable usually usually and very accomplished. he works in special projects and you know once a year, i see this and the first time i have to say i was slightly horrified. maybe i still am but can you just totally into easter? my people always keep his people people. all right. well done. thank you easter bunny. yeah. all right. that's it for the ford four. enjoy your peeps interesting or not. kristen. yeah, we'll be right back

after two-year pandemic hiatus the mass of music festival is getting underway this weekend people are started or they started arriving yesterday in indio for the big weekend concert among the artists performing this year. harry styles billie. eilish and doja cat. wow. that's a lot of aggressive. yeah list for many listening to music is a powerful experience watts music in the north bay offers customers a chance to buy music in an emotional way. connected customers with vinyl for over 40 years here if i have
4:48 pm
a chance, i will listen to music for me. it's something that kind of makes you feel alive. there's an emotional attachment to this to holding a physical copy of something is is an emotional attachment. there's like all these cool pictures on the front and you can like read the songs and having it physically in your hands. i think just makes the experience just overall more fun there's no romance to download or stream streaming and all that is convenient. you know, it's like microwaving food. it's convenient, but it's not as good as making a meal so and buying a record is like making a meal. it's what i collect. it's what all the bands that i'm into still use to put out their content. i still care about albums. i still care about the full message of an artist's output you listen to it in the order that the artist want to do to hear it. way better sound way better sound warmer rounder edges full sound the full dynamics of it.
4:49 pm
it's proven too. it's not just opinion you listen to songs that maybe an algorithm wouldn't have told you to play. it's 120 years this product. it's you got to respect it. so mr. watts opened the store in 1979 same location. apparently his wife nagged him. he had so many records in his two-car garage that they couldn't put a car in there. so why don't you open up a record store and so he came down town here. he was always selling records out of his garage. i guess opened up the store in 79 and it was so successful within the first couple years that he took over a second building here. while we're on year 43 this year and i started coming here as a kid when i was probably about 14 or 15. so in the early 80s and by def leppard cassettes and van halen cassettes, my first album was kiss hotter than hell. you know when i was eight years old, i think and i actually had to call it the hotter than heck album because i was eight and that was a swear word so it touched me from from eight years old now for 45 years now the uptick of vinyl started
4:50 pm
happening around 2008. we the industry have had cent growth or more for 15 straight years now. at cds or even cassettes and if you don't have any of you can just look around those loads of cool posters and stuff here. i found out about it. i came in here look around. have fun. see all the new bands that i've never heard of before. it's just amazing. i think it's just rock and roll heaven. basically if i find out find anything. looking around for something. well, that's a whole point of going into a record store. i'm gonna come in and get you know, this this and this and off i go and other people are coming in because they wanted to do what what a record store is and they want to forget about their troubles. they want to just clear their head and just record shop. it's fun you get to find things that at one point we're discarded and now they're treasure i hear whoa. oh my god. i hear that out of corn in my
4:51 pm
ear and i love that. that's still this is more than a store. this is this is mine and a lot of people's water cooler. we come here. we talk music we talk. it's still after 31 years of working here. it's still i still love it, especially with younger people. i still love when i can make their day. it still makes my day the joke. i've said now when people ask me like what do i want to do like retirement? i said if i work part-time in a record store sounds kinda cool to me. yeah and vinyls coming back. although i think generations from now people will look at what are these frisbee-like devices that they had back then that was all about ready saying that like 20 years. and now they're you know, it's cool. yeah. all right. let's check in with meteorologist and patel again with more rain coming our way. that's right, kristen and larry tomorrow morning. make sure you have your rain gear. let me show you live doppler 7 clouds are already starting to move into the northern part of our viewing area while you guys are sleeping. hopefully tomorrow early in the morning 4 o'clock.
4:52 pm
we get some downpours. it's out of here before noon the sierra picks up snow where a winter weather advisory goes up tomorrow above 6,000 feet carry those chains half a foot to a foot higher. will pick up more than that high temperatures tomorrow mid 50s to the upper 60s breezy along the coast and mainly sunny accuather 74cast. it's a one for tomorrow easter is bright dry perfect for egg hunts and then we have level one systems coming in tuesday again midweek wednesday into thursday, larry and kristen. thanks sandy now to an extraordinary find underneath notre dame cathedral in paris centuries old statues sculptures and tombs were found by archaeologists. are digging ahead of construction to refurbish the cathedral. all that was nearly destroyed by fire in 2019 along with ornate artwork and sculpture fragment. they found tombs from the middle ages. wow, that's trying to read slowly so we can see more of that video. it's incredible. yeah, that is incredible. yeah.
4:53 pm
a blast from the past talking about incredible things. remember that eighties prime time soap opera dynasty. oh, yeah. well some of the actors from that show are back and going live tell you about cocktails. carrington' i'm 53, but in my mind i'm still 35. that's why i take osteo bi-flex, to keep me moving the way i was made to. it nourishes and strengthens my joints for the long term. osteo bi-flex. available at your local retailer and club.

available at your local to a blast from the past some of the stars of the 80s hip primetime soap opera dynasty are back and performing live in a new show called cocktails with a car. ends reported george binocchio caught up with the actors.
4:56 pm
you look for me. were we in high school? i can't remember john james jack coleman and gordon thompson are now having fun reliving their days on dynasty in a whole new way. did you marry me? will you stop being dumb jeff and get dressed the idea of cocktails with the carringtons began with john? and i said guys this crazy idea. i've always wanted to be a rat packer. i always wanted to get up on stage and mess around the guys. tell some jokes. tell some war stories and then sing and just back to that period i have to do this in my life. and lo and behold we're starting up on this adventure the guys say they have 40 years now of real respect and affection for one another. i don't think there's ever been a sort of unpleasant.
4:57 pm
no antagonistic moment. no idea of us. you've been even in public but camera, they had plenty of unpleasant moments fighting for one reason or another and they certainly weren't alone in their battles. it was all in the family. i don't think anybody got through probably an episode without a battle with somebody. so yeah, that was that this it was a pretty dysfunctional family, but that's it. that is that's all. all part of the show wednesday nights the cat fights they brought us to cocktails with the carrington's offers some music and plenty of behind the scenes stories for fans. we have wonderful memories and stories about this show that i think also if you want to come to it, you know what it's about. there's no mystery. it's about dynasty and our memories and pleasures of doing it. there will be stuff that you haven't heard there will be some stuff that that's that's revelatory, but that we're not we're not looking to we're not bringing out the long knives
