a partly cloudy start with the sun coming up in another 30 minute. numbers from the upper 50's, bayside to the mid 60's. liz: to be of people have died after 11 people were shot in a home in pittsburgh. it happened at an airbnb rental property where there was a large party going on. people receive running away from the home and others were injured while jumping out of windows to escape the gunfire. there is no information on any suspects at this time. meantime, police have arrested one person in connection to the shooting at a south carolina shopping mall. it was a terrifying scene. it left more than a dozen people her. here is christine sloan with more. reporter: police have made an arrest after a shootsog utthey o

identify two other people on the scene with guns right before the shooting. >> there were multiple shots fired. >> police responding to shots fired saturday afternoon. officers blocking access to the mall as they went in with long guns. this video taken from inside the mall shows the chaotic scene. >> we saw light on the full -- on the floor. we saw people with bandages on them. i saw multiple people with gunshot wounds. my children, they are home and i am here in the middle of a shootout. reporter: officials set up a center not far from the mall, where they could find each

other. they do not believe the shooting was random. wesley believed that the liz: police are looking for a motive behind deadly shootings. one of the men, a 26-year-old from oakland died at the scene. the other identified man died at a hospital. authorities are trying to determine whether the shootings could be large -- linked to a large party. in livermore, police are investigating after a 15-year-old girl was found dead. the girl appeared to have a gunshot wound.

police say the case is being investigated as a homicide. they do have a person of interest. strikes are set to start april 25. we are tracking the story and have the details. reporter: 5000 nurses across stanford health care is that they are going on strike, starting april 25. among other things, she and her colleagues are asking for increased wages and higher staffing numbers. >> you are world renowned institutions and you need to be able to make our work environment such that people want to come here and people feel supported that they are here. reporter: a statement was released regarding the nurses' decision. while we respect our nurses

work, we are disappointed the union has chosen to strike. yeah proud of our nurses and have recommended highly competitive terms. in response to the strike, stanford also announced it would suspend some benefits for those choosing to participate. we have notified the union that nurses who choose to strike will not be paid for any shifts that they miss. employer paid health benefits will cease on may 1 for nurses to go out on strike and remain through the end of the month in which the strike begins. it has infuriated the nurse the union. a petition has gained more than 15,000 signatures. >> i do not know if they were using it as a tactic to scare nurses, saying, you walk out and

these are the repercussions, but it didn't. it backfired. nurses are more angry than ever before. >> for now, a strike is all but inevitable. ♪ liz: pope francis celebrated mass at st. peter's square. they were there for the first mass for a large crowd since the pandemic started. what is supposed to be pushy entities most joyful day, there was an anguished plea in this senseless war with ukraine. he cited the troubling risk of nuclear warfare. in preparation to get ready, perforations -- preparations were underway for the easter service.

investigating break-ins. broken glass is such a common site, so are criminals breaking into cars, even with people inside them. remember this heist last year and this violent robbery of a canadian crew two weeks ago? now we had seeing the next step in the criminal surprise, and open air market for stolen goods . often when kids are playing soccer just feet away. >> that is where i live. reporter: he has been documenting the trade of stolen goods for years now and he wants it to stop. >> air exchanging electronics -- they are exchanging electronics, usually. they are getting passed back and

forth out of these cars. reporter: a car pulls up, some negotiation and several laptops appearing. he hands money to a driver. another guy takes the laptops away and another carpools up. another laptop, all in about five minutes. it happens all the time. >> any i spend time watching -- usually every day. >> it looked like passports or something. what? yeah. they are throwing it away. >> his car had been broken into about an hour before i saw them drop it into the trash cans. >> within an hour of the break-in, they are here and selling it.

reporter: he watched a briefcase be sold on the street and then recovered plane tickets and vaccination cards, returning them to a man from mexico. thieves had broken into his car. >> this is just a photo, but it is one of my favorite. they are clearly doing something to try to hide their tracks. quite he just starts dropping it. he cannot carry it all. reporter: he wants this to stop. he vote in email last september and received a call from an investigator, then nothing for months. >> did you see any crackdown or the police did anything that you could see? >> know. nothing that i am aware of.

given how blatant and brazen it is, it is alarming that it would take this long to do something about it. reporter: i started asking questions. hillary is supervisor for the district. this resident has seen the open air market for stone goods. she has a plan that would stop the fencing operation and the street vendors, who sometimes sell items from grocery store and convenience stores. quest if they do not have a permit, we can confiscate the goods and say, you cannot sell it. reporter: they did not consult the policeman coming up with the new law. quest for the people -- police involved in the process? >> no, they were not. we want them focusing on the

bigger issues. this is so widespread and it does not need them. >> me being a police officer, i would have jumped all over that. reporter: it has been seven months since the lead came in and they are still working the case. >> they way they worked it out with license plates and descriptions, that gives us a lot of investigative leads that we can follow up on. reporter: the criminals know that there are no high-speed pursuits allowed for this type of crime. liz: still to come, people on the move this weekend as they start to make their journey back home after the easter holiday.
