a gallon. california is $5.70 a gallon. napa halley -- napa valley is the highest at $5.87 a gallon. more people are hitting the road, despite the rising gas prices. here is a live look at traffic right now. i-80 in emeryville, you can see that slow down those folks headed towards i-80. to the golden gate bridge, pretty clear sailing out of town. a little slow coming back into the city. here is the san mateo bridge, where it's clear in both directions. certainly a beautiful afternoon. police are investigating an unusual bank robbery attempt in brentwood. they say a tractor was used in the breaking attempt, which left this atm mangled and in pieces. the officer on patrol spotted the front loader abandoned near a bank of america branch this morning. police believe the tractor was stolen from a nearby construction site.

despite the damage, no cash was taken. a similar break-in also in brentwood happened about a month ago. in that one, witnesses reported seeing a tractor tear the atm from the front of a wells fargo branch. the machine was found dumped about 100 yards from the bank. the shasta county mother who claimed she was kidnapped in 2016 is expected to formally enter a plea tomorrow. she's agreed to plead guilty to lying to federal agents about the case, admitting it was all a charade. for more than five years, she insisted two hispanic women kidnapped her at gunpoint and beat her and tortured her. she could be sentenced up to 25 years in prison. tomorrow is the 116th anniversary of the 1906 earthquake. san francisco mayor london breed is scheduled to lead a ceremony on market street.

taxes. little shaving here on your income can be tempting, but cheating on your tax return, experts say, just don't do it. >> you want to make sure all information is reported correctly. why? if it is not, the irs may hit you later on with penalties, it may charge you additional interest. even in some cases it could be a criminal investigation. reporter: the irs has a matching process to check the numbers you input against third-party reports. >> eventually the irs typically catches up to us. you don't want to risk it because it is not worth it. reporter: there are plenty of legal and legitimate ways to reduce the amount you owe through deductions, tax breaks, and tax credits. >> if you qualify there are things like the american opportunity tax credit, the sabres credit, deductions for contributions made towards dental and medical expenses that are out-of-pocket. there is an adoption tax credit. there are credits related to

charitable deductions, one of my favorite. reporter: and you can still make contributions to your individual retirement account until tax day on april 18. >> we know 2021 is behind us but if you have put money into an individual retirement account you can actually reduce your tax liability. so if you want to save money for retirement and also get a tax reduction, that is one way you can go which is not too late. j.r.: nurses and health care workers plan to walk off the job tomorrow. more than a dozen sutter health facilities in northern california, many located in the bay area, including all debates and california pacific. more than 8000 employees are staging a one-day walkout because of an ongoing labor dispute. the union is demanding better staffing and covid protections on the job. sutter health tells us they are ready to staff the hospitals with contracted replacement workers in the event of a strike.

>> 3, 2, 1, 0. ignition. j.r.: another launch day for spacex falcon 9. the classified mission carrying a space satellite into space launched this morning from vandenberg space base in southern california. the falcon 9's first stage booster returned and landed successfully. tomorrow, vice-president kamala harris will be back in california to visit vandenberg space force base. the president will join senator alex padilla to meet with members of the u.s. space force and the u.s. space command. a lot of space talk tonight. could you imagine if you were able to give your forecast from up in space on one of these private jets? spencer: it sounds exciting. i'm kind of afraid to go up there, but it is exciting to watch other people go. j.r.: at least you're honest. spencer: looking at the space we occupy on the surface, we have

breezy conditions right now. not very windy but you will feel a breeze if you are near the coast where we have wind speeds up to about 20 miles an hour. and sunny skies for easter sunday. looking out over san francisco where it is 53 degrees right now. 61 in mountain view. a cool 50 degrees at half moon bay. blue skies over the golden gate with breezy conditions. 61 up north in santa rosa. 67 at fairfield which has been our mildest location about all afternoon. one more live view from the rooftop camera. still mainly sunny skies over the bay but you can see a few thin high clouds developing and these are our forecast features. a few high clouds overnight. light rain developing late tomorrow first in the north bay and then southward and eastward. a stronger storm will arrive wednesday and continue through thursday into friday.

we can expect sunnier, dryer, warmer weather. tonight under partly clear skies, low temperatures dropping into the mid to upper 30's once again in the interior valley. not quite so chilly near the bay where lows will drop only into the low 40's. similar readings on the coast as well. moving onto tomorrow's highs under increasingly cloudy skies. only 59 at half moon bay. upper 60's around the bay shoreline get even cooler up north where the clouds and the rain will arrive first. up to about 70 in the inland east bay and some low 70's in the south bay tomorrow. let's skip ahead to the forecast animation starting midday tomorrow. rain pushing into the north bay in the late afternoon into the evening than expanding into all parts of the bay area tomorrow into tuesday. late tuesday we have a bit of a partly sunny break with the next wave of steadier heavier rain coming on wednesday and continues through the day

thursday and into early friday morning. by friday we expect rainfall totals across the region for the week to be up to about 1.5 inches in the wettest locations, especially the north bay. 1.8 inches in oakland at about 1.25 inches in san francisco. each did the storm activity ranks only one on the storm impact scale but it will be beneficial rain or towards the end of the week we can expect partial clearing, and a sunnier and drier weekend next weekend. chris: stephen curry scored 16 points playing 22 minutes returning from a foot injury. head coach steve kerr today said he came out of game one well healthwise but would not indicate whether staff will come off the bench or start against game two. no doubt adjustments will be -- the three guard lineup of curry, clay and jordan poole. last night jordan poole scored
