wrapping up his comments payment we are in front of this ornate fountain, where people would gather outside the 1906 earthquake to reunite with their loved ones. that happened at 5:11 a.m. and that is when this crowd will have a moment of silence to commemorate the earthquake that killed more than 3000 people, destroyed 28,000 buildings. mayor london breed is here along with the police and fire chiefs. they do this every year to remember those who died and those who work hard to rebuild the city. this event used to feature some survivors -- they have all passed on -- but city leaders say it's important to keep up the tradition to never forget that huge earthquake. after this moment of silence, this group will go on to a fire hydrant which received a lot of credit for saving the city.

for maariupol may change the course of the war. as air raid sirens ring out across eastern ukraine and firefighters in kharkiv light to extinguish flames from the russian shelling, zelenskyy thanked resident biden for his latest pledge to send another $800 million to the region but says more is needed. the u.s. has committed nearly $2.6 billion to ukraine since the start of the war and is now considering sending an administration official to the capital kyiv. kumasi: it was a violent easter weekend across the country. there were three separate mass shootings, one at a mall, one at a nightclub, and one at a party at an airbnb. two 17-year-olds were killed in that party.

police say more than 90 shots were fired. they say this started from a fight between people in the party. >> we heard the bang, bang. we looked out the window and people were running out the door, screaming, yelling. kumasi: hours before that shooting in pittsburgh, there was a mass shooting at a mall in columbia, south carolina. nine people were shot, five were hurt. police also believe this one started from a fight between two people. mass shootings are defined when four or more people are shot, and they are up 60% in the past two years. jobina: many are home after celebrating easter, passover, and ramadan. the airports have been busy. thes 6roh fday, about the

jobina: police are investigating an unusual bank robbery attempt and bring would. they say that a tractor was viewed in this attempt which left the atm in pieces. the officer noticed the front loader abandoned in front of the bank this morning. police believe somebody stole it from a nearby construction site. >> we cannot even live safely in this community.

people just need to work, why are they stealing stuff? jobina: despite the damage, no cash was taken. a similar incident happened about a month ago and in that incident, witnesses saw a front r tear an atm from the bank. kumasi: and the east bay, it's a race against time to find the person caught on camera taking a newborn goat. a home security camera the incident. the person walked up to the goats helping to clear the hillside from grass. the suspect then napped to the baby goat and left the mom just watching on the hillside. that person then hopped in a car and drove away. the owner of the company says she is in disbelief, believing it may have just been a cruel prank. >> it is just so unkind. the baby goat needs its mom.

the mother is still sad, looking for her kid. it just isn't there. kumasi: she tells us it's a race against time to find the goat and save its life. newborn goats typically don't survive if they are not with their mom. police are also investigating. jobina: today is tax day, hopefully you have done them already, but there are some tips if you still have not filed, or don't have the money to pay the irs. >> today is tax day. if you will not be submitting your tax return by midnight, you'll need to file for an extension. >> they can file online for free using the file. >> this will give you until october 17 to get the paperwork in. >> an extension to file is not an extension to pay. the irs expects you to pay your liability by the april 18 deadline. >> if you owe money, you'll have to estimate your tax liability

and make a payment. if you cannot pay right now, don't panic. >> the situation is very complicated right now. to date have money to pay it, they should contact the irs to arrange a payment plan. >> you can do it a couple of different ways. you can pick up the phone and contact them, but we know that it can be challenging at this time. on the other thing you can do is create an online account and create your own payment arrangement. >> if you have filed and are expecting a refund -- >> it will take typically 21 days if you file electronically you chose to file a paper tax return, it will take a couple of weeks, could be months before you receive your refund. >> in addition toe-filing, setting up direct deposit will help you get your deposit the quickest. jobina: if you are looking for a

the home was purchased in december after you see official spent decades renting the home for presidents to live in. we are hearing from the family of a clearlake teenager who was just found alive after being reported missing in 2019. jobina: he was found sitting outside of a store in utah. we have the newly released body camera video. >> newly released video shows the moment police officers near park city, utah found a teenager from california who had been missing for nearly two and a half years. 19-year-old connerjack oswalt who has autism was sitting outside of a store, cold and shivering. police approached for a wellness check. they say he was reluctant to communicate. dispatchers then checked the national center for missing and exploited children database, searching through 16 pages. they finally found his name and called his family.

he is no safe and is heading for a treatment facility. today is the 160th anniversary of the 1906 earthquake. every year a moment of silence is observed to remember those killed in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake. amy hollyfield was there for the moment and joins us now for more. amy: the celebration just wrapped up. we sucar ago, and they paused at 5:11 and silently remembered. silence, they had sirens blaring. as they did, 116 years ago, after this huge quake hit. 3000 people died in the aftermath. 28,000 buildings were destroyed. the ceremony takes place here at market street.

claimed she was kidnapped in 2017 is expected to enter a plea today. sherry papini has agreed to plead guilty to police admitting it was a charade. for more than five years, she insisted two hispanic women kidnapped her at gunpoint and beat her and tortured her. she could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison. a gay couple says they were verbally assaulted by another passenger while on amtrak train. kumasi: it happened earlier this week. >> what was supposed to be a fun family trip turned into a nightmare tuesday afternoon for robbie pierce, his husband neil, and their children. the couple was hours into a journey from los angeles to the bay area when suddenly another passenger came up to the cost will and began screaming at their kids. >> the first thing he said is remember when i told you. marriage is between a man and a

woman. these people stole you, they are not your parents. they are pedophiles. >> the couple was shocked. one of them immediately jumped up to separate the men from their kids. >> when you are a parent, your family, kids are threatened, you become fearless. >> unaware if the man had a weapon, he said he took his children to a different train car. he said the kids were visibly shaken. >> they were both just sobbing, tears down their faces. my son was kind of frozen, my daughter was yelling, why is this happening? >> when the train stopped in san jose, amtrak employees told the man he had to leave, a request he refused, until deputies were callfo bkup. >> he had been yelling, i will die before i get off the train. you will have to kill me. >> the couple says this is not

tonight's game kicks off at 7:00 at the chase center. drew: that was great. we are tracking winds increasing today ahead of the storm. it comes out of the south, a mild wind. temperatures in the 60's and 70's. we will likely have wind gusting over 20 miles per hour today. this morning is pretty. this is the bay bridge toll plaza. mainly clear skies. throughout the day, clouds will be on the increase. heading into the 60's and 70's. this evening, showers arrived fourth in the north bay before they spread south across the entire region tonight. 64 in the city. 72 in san jose. 70 in concord. 73 in santa rosa. this is the storm we are tracking that is just beginning to move into parts of the pacific northwest. it drives a cold front through later this morning, and that will supply that shower chance.
