the tsa quickly responded to the decision, saying it will no longer enforce the mandate on public transportation. >> as of 5:00 p.m. today, masks are no longer required on u.s. domestic flights >> the major domestic airlines have made masks optional. you're about to hear what police dispatchers unannounced to officers over the police radio this afternoon. >> face coverings are no longer required when traveling on bart. >> for some this might be viewed as one of the last of the stages of the pandemic with mentz -- mask mandates being lifted. we find some people who say they will still mask up. >> it is nice but for our safety and for the safety of my family, i will still wear it. >> i will because it makes other people feel comfortable.

to the fire who say they want answers. >> i was in the rear of the store, i heard somebody yelling, it was very distinct. reporter: moments now turned into permanent memories. a large depot two weeks ago, turning parts of the store into rubble still physical -- visible today. >> out of the corner of my eye i see a yellow tinge of color. rie was near the fire when it started. fire officials in san jose says they arrested someone who possibly started the fire. rcs is based on what he saw, it makes sense that the start of it is compared to being an accident. >> are told investigator one of two things. unless someone intentionally started the fire, i suspect it might be electrical. ryan: you can still smell that

burning aroma coming from the building and the witnesses i spoke with say they realize now it could have been much worse. >> it wasn't until three minutes we left that this giant smoke moved out of the front and we knew it was time to leave. ryan: jeff says he didn't hear any immediate fire alarm when the fire broke out. inspections about smoke alarms and sprinkler systems are under investigation. >> we were watching the ceiling fall down in flames. ryan: knowing the fire was possibly started by some -- witnesses are glad they left mostly unhurt. >> that was a dangerous situation we were on. ama: we sent this notification today on our abc seven news app one officials announced the arrest.

terry says the mom is no longer acting distraught and distressed. this person you see here taking the baby goat, no update on the whereabouts of that individual yet. ama: a guilty plea today from a shasta county mun -- mother who admitted to a kidnapping 35 years ago. she took an 11th hour plea deal last week admitting to authorities she lied to federal agents about the 2016 incident. this has made for gripping headlines, telling authorities she was tortured for 22 days. investigators say she was staying with an ex-boyfriend and mutilating herself to backup the lies. >> i would call this her last ditch effort to do the best she can for herself. ama: she will be sentenced in july and ordered to play -- pay

$3000 in charges. dan: a 15-year-old student has been stabbed to death at a stockton high school in what police are calling a random attack. police say is the suspect is a man's in his 40's who trespassed onto the stagg high school campus. the student died at a local hospital, all horrifying. a school resource officer detained the man after the attack. district has promised to revamp security on campus. ama: senator dianne feinstein has the backing of the president. colleagues had expressed concerns over the 88-year-old's memory lapses but feinstein said she would not be stepping down before her term ends. the white house press secretary was asked today whether president biden still has confidence in her. >> she is a proud public servant and someone he has long enjoyed working with. ama: she has had --

coming from ucsf children's hospital. ama: two young siblings received kidney transplants within hours of each other. it was a first for the doctor. dan: jr spun -- j.r. stone spoke with the doctor and siblings today. j.r.: this is the pair of siblings who have a rare connecticut condition. because of that, both needed a new kidney but that was until recently. >> we are finishing up dialysis and the doctor heads in with the phone pressed against his ear. he casually goes, do you want a kidney? i completely froze. j.r.: after two years of dialysis treatment, a kidney was now being offered to carswell. >> so i go, what?

he says, do you want to kidney? i say, yeah, i will take it. dad was on the other side of the room. >> i walk over there and i get this news and just disbelief. not really sure what i was feeling. all of the emotions coming in at one time. >> like what is going on? i just got a kidney offer and i think we had the same look of, oh my god. it was an hour and a half of celebration and going, oh my god. j.r.: as exciting as that news was, it got better for the siblings from antioch. >> i am half waking up from sleeping. and i just hear their say -- them say, it is happening. i glanced up and said, what?

but then the gears in my head started turning and i immediately got a rush. j.r.: a rush because another kidney had gotten available for matthew hours after carswell's surgery. >> i talked to the parents and why don't you bring matthew in so he doesn't get jealous and he is going to get a transplant too. >> carswell was still recovering from their transplant and things began moving quickly for matthew. >> i went down to matthew's room and the transport unit was already there so i opened the door and yelled at them. it is happening, get up. j.r.: then this priceless moment. >> i love you. >> i love you too. j.r.: sibling love during one of their toughest times yet. the ucsf doctor telling us that in the nearly 2000 transplants he has performed, has never given two new kidneys to two

siblings than a 24 hour period. the kidneys coming from deceased individuals in the bay area and sacramento area who chose to be donors. >> kidney transplant equals freedom. you are changing the fate of at least eight people. with every part that is donated, you are allowing me to go to college. i am able to walk pretty well, i am able to be a kid. j.r.: and dr.ose -- dr. hirose says so far so good. the kids are doing well. dan: that is an amazing story all the way around. if you are interested in becoming an organ donor, you can

upper 40's. highs tomorrow, upper 50's on the coast, mid 60's around the bay shoreline. inland areas, the 60's up to the 70's. we zoom the forecast animation and on wednesday noticed this widespread and stronger storm coming in continuing through thursday and into friday. we are looking at a generous helping of rainfall from this system. that'll take us to the weekend which will bring us some clearing. each day through friday will only rank one on the abc storm impact scale. this will bring beneficial reign over a nice extended period of time. out of that storm, drier and warmer weather. by next monday we are looking at inland highs of 80 degrees. dan:
