ayhead bora abtthhe seven-day ukraine's president says he is meeting with antony blinken and lloyd austin in kyiv today. our abc news reporter has the latest. >> president zelenskyy says he is meeting in person with u.s. defense secretary lloyd austin and secretary of state antony blinken in kyiv on sunday. >> meeting with the state secretary and the defense secretary who are coming to us. >> the state and defense departments are declined to comment. they would be the highest ranking u.s. officials to meet with zelenskyy in the war zone since russia invaded. zelensky made the comments during a rare press conference underground on a subway platform in kyiv. he also talked about the threats against his life.

>> i don't have the right to be afraid because our people showed that they are not afraid of anything. >> meanwhile, vladimir putin attended easter mass at a russian orthodox cathedral. he could be seen crossing himself several times, even as russian forces continued their assault on ukraine. unleashing new attacks on the port city of odessa, ukraine claims russia fired six cruise missiles, striking residential and military buildings. at least eight people died including a three-month-old baby. another 18 were hurt. russian forces also continued their attack on a steel plant in mariupol which remains the last stronghold of ukrainian resistance in the city. mariupol's mayor claims russian forces thwarted the latest attempt to help people leave the city. amanda: we are tracking their numbers on the coronavirus pandemic.

data shows california's test positivity rate has climbed nearly 48% in the past week, the rise comes at the new subvariant of omicron makes the rounds. san francisco's test positivity rate has climbed above 5%. something many infectious disease experts consider too high. one bit of good news, california has administered more vaccines than any other state. the governor's office estimates we have prevented 1.5 million infections and 20,000 deaths. bart is moving forward with plans to institute a new mask mandate. the agency announced the board will take up the issue at its meeting this coming thursday. it would be part of their code of conduct and would make face coverings mandator through july 18. earlier, a federal court judge struck down the mask requirement for federal transportation and airplanes. the bay area's transit agencies followed guidance to stop

enforcing the mandate. stanford nurses have scheduled a bargaining session for tuesday with the hospital but it appears they still will be going on strike on monday. on the union's website, it says it is committed to avoiding a strike but must address the issues that are important to its members. the nurses are seeking wage increases and mental support. if there is a strike, 5000 nurses would be on the picket line monday morning. a san francisco chinatown favorite has closed its doors after three decades in business. saturday was the last day of operation for washington bakery and restaurant. that cafe was a chinatown staple for 27 years, famous for its pineapple buns. locals say they are sad to see it go. >> it is bittersweet. i have been coming to this establishment since i was a kid. i'm going to miss all of this cooking. >> it is a testament to how much tradition is in chinatown and

how much history we have. it means a lot to me that a bunch of customers came out early for one last sendoff for this restaurant. amanda: washington bakery and restaurant posted on instagram that its lease was coming to an end, so the space was sold. it will be taken over by wanton house. in the north bay, after a pandemic hiatus, butter and egg festival is back. it has managed to survive, that is not the case with the garlic festival. three smaller, more intimate events are planned for that. tim johns was in petaluma. >> the streets were alive again on saturday what the annual butter and egg festival. >> i'm excited and delighted, i

grow and expand, have people learn about our businesses. >> not just for themselves, but also for future generations. >> we feel really lucky because we are walking distance away and she gets to come experience this . it is amazing. amanda: this weekend, firefighters are battling multiple wildfires in the southwest. high temperatures and high winds are blamed for a dozen fires in several states. in arizona and new mexico, the flames have scorched 174 square miles. dozens of homes have been destroyed and others threatened. colorado's department of public safety saying the dry conditions are only getting worse. >> i think we should be concerned. our job conditions are such that it is a high fire danger. they have gotten bigger, worse,
