arrested are expected in court today. the mother told us she doesn't know the motive behind the kidnapping. here is a look at the three people arrested in the case. the mother says she knows two of them. friends and neighbors say that the woman, guadalupe ramirez met the grandmother at church and was obsessed with the baby and that ramirez came to the home monday and convinced the grandmother to go to walmart with her to buy supplies for the baby and when they returned, the baby was kidnapped at the grandmother unloaded rosaries from the car. brandon is doing fine. he was dehydrated when he was found, did not get enough to eat or drink in those 20 hours he was away from mom, but otherwise, he is in good condition. she describes how she reacted when she found out her son had been found. >> very emotional. i felt like my soul came back

into my body. when i found out my son was missing, i felt like i died. amy: her husband is in jail. she says people should not speculate about his involvement and his situation is not connected with the kidnapping. she is now focused on thanking everybody for their support and help and she wants to see justice. she says no mother should ever have to go through this. reggie: oakley's police chief is set to provide an update on the search for alexis gabe. the 24-year-old was last seen on january 26 in antioch. her car was found on a residential street the neck day with the keys still inside. the family says her ex-boyfriend was with her the night she was last seen. officers have searched his home but police so far have not made any arrest. jobina: former u.s. marine

trevor reed is back home on american soil. it was released yesterday as part of the prisoner exchange between the u.s. and russia. here is faith with the very latest. faith: after nearly three years detained in russia, trevor reed finally back on u.s. soil texas congressman august pflueger sharing these photos on twitter of himself, the former marine and his parents in the airplane hangar. telling abc news yesterday what they plan to do in this very moment. >> we are all going to be fighting over who was going to hug him first. faith: the couple getting emotional at they watched this dramatic video on russian television showing their son in a tarmac on turkey walking to his freedom. reed, passing the convicted russian felon who was swapped for his release. >> he looked like he had been walking shackled and we started crying. trevor left here a young, young

americans and russian custody, the white house says they are doing everything they can to another marine back home and brittney griner, her case is still a top priority. reggie: some news that parents have been waiting for for quite some time: moderna has submitted a request to authorize the covid vaccine for kids younger than six. kids ages six months to six years old are the only remaining group not eligible to be vaccinated. moderna reported their pediatric vaccine generated a strong immune response with no significant risk. learning organization could come in the month. the company also says it is designing a study to look at the potential for third shots for kids under six. when the fda give the green light, the cdc will still have to sign off before the youngest americans can get those shots. and you could soon be required

to wear a mask on -- once again. face coverings would be mandatory through july 18. last court judge struck down a mask requirement for public transportation. jobina: happening today, season-ticket holders and chase cardholders will be able to get tickets for the war's playoff series. everybody else can bark -- start buying tickets tomorrow. steph curry leading the way with early points. >> tonight was just feeling because we hadn't been there in a while. we wanted so bad. it kindt a lot more difficult on ourselves. we still remember how to do it, which is a good feeling. >> we are not satisfied, obviously, but it is something we can route of.

the oakland police department may soon be finished with its federal oversight. tim johns explains what is next after a judge signaled the opd has nearly met all of its reform requirements. >> speaking at a press conference, the oakland mayor was joined by the police chief and other leaders to announce that after nearly 20 years, the city police department is finally almost done with its federal oversight. >> today marks a milestone in a continual journey toward oakland reforms and professionalism for the national model in policing. >> the oversight began after a 2003 settlement that by the department to enact the two reform measures under the guidance of a federal judge and outside observers. at the time, the institution was under heavy scrutiny after four officers were accused of brutalizing people on the streets of some oakland neighborhoods. a federal judge says the department has almost completed all of the reforms set out

nearly two decades ago. >> we await the judge's orders but i am optimistic that we are proven to the public that we have reformed. >> the department will soon enter a one year sustainability period where it can prove the changes will be long-lasting. welcome news to civil-rights attorney john burris who was one of the lawyers who filed the initial court case. >> better checks and balances, more accountability. >> despite the progress made, city leaders acknowledge that more work still needs to be done. one area in particular, the court noted, still has to be dealt with. opd needs to be more consistent with how it disciplines officers, focusing to eliminate racial disparities, something the chief since they are already working on. >> begin to talk more to our staff, hear more from our minority officers. >> ensuring the changes are

she says baby brandon is doing great. she said that he was dehydrated when he was found, but he is ok. and she's doing much better, too now that he is back in her arms. she was at work when she got the call that her three-month-old son had been abducted. >> i didn't know how to react. there was a moment that i can't explain. it was something i live you and don't even know how to tell you. i hope no other mother goes through this. amy: here is a look at the three people arrested. she says she knows two of them. family and neighbors have said that 43-year-old guadalupe ramirez met baby brandon's grandma at church and was obsessed with the baby. the three suspects are expected to make court appearances today. her husband is in jail and she says people should not assume that he was involved or had any

part of this. she says his situation has not connected to this kidnapping. jobina: it appears we are in the middle of a new wave of covid-19. this time around, more people are testing at home which means public health departments are not able to report the whole picture. however, researchers are tracking cases by what we are flushing down the toilet. wastewater samples are being processed. researchers are finding high levels of covid in almost all of the 11 sites they tested in the reader bay area. >> the concentrations now are similar to what they were during the delta surge back in the summer of 2021, may be every four weeks. jobina: researchers are also finding evidence that the latest variant is causing a lot of cases on the east coast.

group that says the plan to build a new stadium to close 11 public schools are connected to billionaire john sure. fisher owns the a's and has an interest in kip charter schools. >> the problem we have is that kip, along with the oakland a's, are owed by the same family, fisher family, and there is a push to close public schools to turn them into charter schools to privatize the schools at the same time that there is push to privatize our property. reggie: the international longshore and warehouse union is letting a shutdown tomorrow at the same day oakland teachers are planning a one-day strike. we reached out to the fisher family for comment but we have not yet heard back. jobina: a democratic lawmaker is hinting that president biden might forgive some student data

reggie: do you remember this bizarre incident caught on camera? the woman coughing on a driver in this viral video is in trouble once again. this time, she is accused of stealing the identity of a san francisco nurse. melanie has the story you will only see here. melanie: this is a story that spans three cities on two coast. it centers around one very memorable suspect. she is also the former neighbor of a san francisco oncology nurse named emily. emily asked that we not use her last name after she filed a police report this month that she suspected her identity was stolen. >> i noticed i was getting credit inquiries. there were about 12 of them.

i knew i wasn't doing it. >> she began digging, following up with about a dozen or so of luxury dealerships she said had run her credit without her permission. she says one of them gave her a cell phone number a person used in her name. she looked at the number which she says came back to a name she didn't know at first. when she googled the name, it wasn't just this viral video that caught her attention, it was that she recognized her as her former neighbor from when she lived in los angeles and temper. >> to find out that that is the person that was targeting the is just crazy to me. >> she says they never spoke beyond maybe a head nod in the hallway. >>si my identity and now i know who it is. >> she got a miami penthouse apartment in her name at this holding and even set up an electric account with more power and light in her name as well. she file police reports with san francisco pd, miami pd, and the u.s. postal inspection service.

abc 7 got this video outside the building. a spokesperson for miami pd confirmed the economic crimes unit has obtained an arrest warrant. the charges, grand theft, organized scheme to defraud and fraudulent use of personal information. a spokesperson for the miami building's management company said in part "we are aware of an incident where a resident allegedly used a fake identification to rent an apartment. we are fully cooperating with the police in their investigation. >> i think it is really just horrible that someone could take a really easy way out, a get-rich-quick scheme and try to live a life of luxury on someone else's dime. >> meantime, the case is ongoing. her trial scheduled for june. abc 7 reached out regarding the new allegations. he said he is in communication and she is in the process of arranging for surrender in miami. reggie: if you have a story or

urls linked to the unwanted information. reggie: new york's city council is expected to delay a law requiring them lawyers to disclose salaries on job listings. it was due to take effect in less than three weeks. the law is designed to give applicants, especially women and people of color a better shot at fair pay, but business leaders are pushing back on this. they sent a letter saying they are dissatisfied. they claim many salaries being offered now are much higher than historical averages because of the lack of workers and because of inflation. an alabama lunchroom worker is being told that she owes more than $23,000 and it is because of a payroll error. she got this letter here saying that she was overpaid for six years, and then she was given three ways that she could pay back the money.

a lump sum, a yearly payment, or having three to $25 per month taken out of her check for the next six years. two other employees say they got similar letters including a teacher who was told to repay $33,000. >> with federal wage law, taking away money that has been paid to them, they are entitled to keep the money. >> one of the overpaid people is the wife of a school board member. attorneys are now combing through state law to determine if the workers are actually obligated to pay back this money. reggie: for many of us, videoconferencing during the pandemic has become a way of life, like it or not. but is it crushing her creativity? a new study says yes. researchers say although the technology keeps us from spreading germs and viruses, virtual meetings also detract from brainstorming.
