truck plunges into the ocean in san mateo county. good evening and thank you for joining us. a man from santa cruz county is one of two people who died in that crash last night at escudero beach. investigators believe the driver was heading west on pescadero creek road when he apparently drove through the highway one intersection at a parking lot, careening down the cliff and into the ocean. >> i came out here -- i don't know, to see what was left. >> elizabeth anaya came to pescadero state beach to mourn her older brother. chp told the family he was one of the victims found inside a toyota tacoma truck after it crashed into the water friday night. >> he has three nieces, a mom, a

dad, a sister. >> elizabeth fears the other victim found inside the truck may be his brother's girlfriend's young daughter, but the girlfriend is still missing. >> we are working with the coast guard to try to locate that third already. >> the coast guard says that search was called off saturday morning after a third person could not be located. the chp says the truck ran that stop sign here at pescadero creek road and cross highway one into the beach parking lot and kept on going into the water. the truck plunged 30 feet into the water. neighbor ron talbot says it is a dangerous stretch of road. >> this is the six or seven time in recent memory, in the last 37 years, that people think the road just keeps going and they

are expecting big signals, and there are not any. >> the chp says the crash is under investigation. >> elizabeth says her brother was near the beach friday but is struggling to understand how it ended in tragedy. >> just trying to find answers. dion: new developments now. stanford nurses are set to end the strike after venture -- reaching a tentative agreement. nurses at the picket lines last monday. the union says the agreement includes a 7% wage increase this year along with another 5% next april and an additional week of vacation. union members will vote this weekend on approval of the agreement. results are expected on monday. stanford health care tweeted a statement about the agreement saying in part, throughout the negotiations, the parties continue to work in good faith and have accomplished a shared

goal of agreeing on contract terms they can be proud of. abc 7 news has confirmed the cause of death for a rookie san jose police officer and former san jose football star. packer died of a fentanyl overdosed last month. that is the determination from the county medical examiner. he was just 24 years old. san jose's police chief says the circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation. the chief points to accountability, saying any allegation of illegal drug use by a san jose police officer is concerning. there are no free passes for police officers, and we will not make excuses. in east bay, at least two suspicious fires burned near i-680. the first started at about 12:30 a.m. on the southbound side of 680 near pacheco boulevard. the second burned near the pachinko offramp -- the pacheco

the blast not far from where the united nations secretary general was meeting with ukrainian president zelenskyy earlier this week. in kharkiv, at least three missiles struck an industrial complex sending plumes of black smoke into the sky. nearly 400 people in kharkiv have been detained under anti-collaboration laws punishable by up to 15 years in prison if found guilty of helping russian forces. further south, russia is still fighting for control of mariupol but is being met with resistance from ukrainians at that steel plant. earlier this week, the secretary of defense called putin's nuclear rhetoric interest and unhelpful. >> we urge pressure to stop escalating the rhetoric and do the right thing. just and the war today. >> in the wake of putin's move to cut off natural gas supplies

slightly warmer tomorrow but then gusty and much cooler on monday with a rather sharp drop in temperatures. summer-like warm-up begins on tuesday and continues into wednesday. that will be a rather sharp increase in temperatures. we will see a few passing high clouds. we expect a sunny day tomorrow. overnight tomorrow night into early monday morning, look for another way of clouds to move through as a little bit of a week cold front. it may produce in the early hours a sprinkle or two of around ukiah but we are not expecting any rainfall in the immediate bay area, so skies will clear out again after that wave moves through. overnight low temperatures will be in the mid to upper 40's and highs tomorrow starting in the south bay, mainly mid to upper 70's. 76 in morgan hill. only upper 50's and breezy on the coast.
