reviews. from the birds that took over this home in california to the boy who finally met his hero in the dugout, to tom cruise in the danger zone. flying a helicopter to the new top gun premiere. all the stories this thursday morning. no no nounls. we begin with the breaking news overnight. tornadoes hitting the planes. >> the images are just coming in and millions of american are on alert for more severe storms today. >> reporter: this morning widespread damage is being reported in oklahoma. after multiple tornadoes hit near the texas border. >> i'm looking out in front of me and seeing a lot more damage as we continue to play the over the town. this was a very strong storm. >> reporter: one reported tornado making a direct hit on downtown seminole, damaging

buildings and tearing down power lines. ten people were trapped inside this storm shelter after debris fell on top of it. all of it including a baby reportedly made it out safely. >> this is bricks they're getting out of the road. and it is bricks from this building right here. we're not really sure what kind of building it was. it is really dark out here so we can't tell but that is the building that is destroyed. this is roof to that building. it is completely gone. it is on the ground now. >> that's where the tornado is. >> reporter: the strong winds sending these marijuana plants sky high. tearing apart the grow houses and a marijuana farm. tornadoes have hit the u.s. in record numbers this year. 218 in march alone. the highest number for that month before tornado season even technically began. new video showed the devastating tornado that hit andover, kansas last week, damaging more than 1,000 buildings. the twister packing winds up to 155-miles-per-hour. the surveillance video showing the tornado just missing city

hall. and this man was filming as a tornado was heading straight for his house. only minor injuries were reported overnight in oklahoma. today, more severe storms are expected from dallas to little rock and memphis. we'll have the forecast in just a few moments. also breaking right now, ukrainian fighters say after days of bombing, russian troops have finally stormed the steel plan in mariupol. thousands of troops and up to 200 civilians were still believed to be trapped inside. meanwhile an air strike on a theater in mariupol back in march was much worse than initially believed. an associated press investigation found evidence that 600 people were killed and abc's reporter found that russian attacks in civilian areas are not letting up. >> this was a children's play ground. you can see it over there. there was a garden, a photo booth, even a child's play ground. luckily there was no one playing here at the time but it tells

and overnight, crews setting up security fencing around the u.s. supreme court complex. a level of precaution seen after the january 6th capitol attack. it comes amidst rising tensions of this week's week of a draft opinion on a pending abortion rights case. that draft appearing to signal the conservative leaning court could be close to overturning roe v. wade. the near 50-year-old supreme court decision granting the right to legal abortion in the u.s. though not a final opinion, president biden has called the draft opinion radical. >> what happens if you have states change the law saying that children who are lgbtq can't be in classrooms with other children? is that legit under the way the decision is written? >> reporter: the president also warning of the wider impact on other rights. >> what are the next things that will be attacked? because this maga crowd is

agreement on what is disinformation so you can police it on social media. >> reporter: homeland security ruled it out, giving few details on how it will function saying it will examine disinformation about threats but will not have operational power and not monitor. >> we can't even agree what disinformation is. >> reporter: on wednesday, republican lawmakers pressed homeland security secretary mayorkas calling for the disinformation group to be disbanned. some dubbing it the rather the police. >> i think it is a terribe idea. it communicates to the world that we'll be spreading propaganda within our country. >> reporter: mayorkas disagreed saying it will not infringe on freedom of spaex or privacy rights. emit is availability to protecting the home land. >> we become involved when disinformation pose as threat to the security of our country. >> reporter: but senator shelley march capito called it
