i'm dionne lim we begin now with that deadly mass shooting in buffalo where authorities are reviewing the suspected. social media posts saying he expressed racist and anti-semitic beliefs and praised other mass shooters abc news reporter ed dranch has more now from buffalo. the horrific scene unfolding inside the supermarket in buffalo, new york. shortly after 2:30 saturday afternoon. he exited his vehicle. he was very heavily armed he had tactical gear. he had a tactical helmet on he had a camera that he was live streaming what? was doing authorities say pete and gendron of conklin new york. allegedly shot several people in the parking lot before entering tops market continuing his rampage. the shooter. was not from this community. in fact the shooter traveled hours from outside this community. to perpetrate this crime on the

people of buffalo buffalo police quickly taking the 18 year old into custody the suspect put the gun to neck buffalo police personnel two patrol officers talk to suspect into dropping the gun. dropped a gun took off some of his tactical gear surrendered at that point, new york governor kathy hoekel, who hails from buffalo expressing concern? it's hard to know what to say. this is my community. i know this community. well, this is the worst nightmare that any community can face. the fbi is assisting local authorities in this investigation. we're aggressively investigating this at the federal level. as a hate crime and as an instance of racially motive motivated violent extremism gendron charged with first-degree murder and ordered held without bowel. investigators are searching through a number of online postings. they believe the alleged gunman made authorities. say some of those postings praised the south carolina shooter.

bay area moving forward finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. authorities are investigating today's mass shooting in buffalo new york as racially motivated violent extremism at least 10 people were killed and three hurt in the shooting in a supermarket and its parking lot. 18 year old peyton gendron the suspected shooter was arraigned in court for multiple counts of first degree murder. he is currently in custody without bail and has pleaded not guilty. authorities say gendron drove hours from his hometown to buffalo. he arrived to a supermarket heavily armed wearing tactical gear and a camera live streaming the attack. retired officer working as a security guard shot him, but he was unharmed because he was wearing body armor. the suspect put the gun to his own neck buffalo police personnel two patrol officers talk to suspect into dropping

just before 7 am. police didn't say what the victim's injuries were investigators ask anyone who was driving southbound on el camino real between 1 am and 7 am who has dash cam to give them a call. after a seven-year court battle a houston-based pipeline company has settled a class action lawsuit of 230 million dollars for a large oil spill that occurred in southern, california. you may remember in 2015 a corroded pipeline owned by planes all american pipeline dispute 630,000 gallons of oil into the ocean that is according to experts it caused extensive harm to beaches and marine life and fishing tourism for miles. the pipeline company will pay $184 million dollars to fishermen. to 46 million dollars to property owners. it was the worst oil spill to happen in decades. will count them down american idol is down to its final.

college celebrated its 134th and last commencement as an all-women school. these students have been through so much they persevered and they earned degrees. and it's great to see so many people back in person on the campus celery. the college will be merging with northeastern university in july and will be known as mills college at northeastern university mills will remain partially in service for continuing students graduating in the spring of 2023 in recent years. the campus has dealt with financial hardships after a decline in enrollment. budget deficits mills college was one of the last remaining women's colleges in the state. american idol is down to just five contestants and they're
