shootings over the weekend, one out of buffalo supermarket that official say was motivated by racism and the other at a southern california church, what we are learning about the victims this morning. kumasi: in the wake of the shootings, the bay area boys department are stepping up patrols and they are trying to keep the community safe. reggie: calfire says there is no fire season, this is a year-round event. also steph curry adding to his list of compliments and can officially say he's a college graduate. miri: kumasi: kumasi: good morning and happy monday, its may 15. reggie: we made it through that. mike: a little bit of a cooler starts of the week but the week in general is pretty warm. we are dealing with some windy conditions from hayward to

oakland to san francisco with wind 20-32 miles per hour and the wind will stay with us for much of the day and will help bring in cooler temperatures later this afternoon step we are basically waking up to temperatures in the 50's. 53 in the city and 56 in oakland and it's a little cooler in the north bay with santa rosa at 48 degrees. the marine layer is intact along the coastline. we will wake up to that gray sky this morning with cloud cover. it will slowly break down as the day goes on. a partly cloudy day but breezy and it is cooler but not nearly as warm as the weekend. we will track warmer weather coming our way in the days ahead coming up in about eight minutes. reggie: it was a violent week across the country saturday when

10 people died in a mass shooting in a grocery store in a flow, new york -- in buffalo, new york that was driven by racism. in milwaukee, a playoff watch party for the box got canceled following a series of shootings that got 21 people injured. kumasi: officials will get more information on the church shooting in orange county. that shooting happened in laguna woods about an hour south of los angeles. in addition to the one person killed, at least five other people were injured but none of the victims have been identified. the injured are all asian people. reggie: in buffalo, investigators a racism was behind a mass shooting at a supermarket post-up they believe the government shows the market because in a zip code 73% of the residents are black. police say the attack could have been worse. jobyna: police tell abc news that the suspect, if he had not been stopped, he had plans to

drive around buffalo looking for more black people to kill. he live-streamed as he carried out this racist attack, firing 50 shots to at innocent people saturday. among the victims was a 32 euros shopping for dinner and a 55-year-old a store security guard who is a retired police officer and a 77-year-old who ran a local food pantry. >> at least she had no pain. it happened so quickly, she was gone like that. i also pray for that young man. jobyna: three people survived the attack into her still hospitalize and one was treated and released all stuff suspect is being held without bail and being held for first-degree murder and could face federal and hate crime charges. president biden is set to visit buffalo tomorrow. kumasi: vice president kamala harris talked about the shooting. >> it's horrendous. it's horrendous.

we have to recognize [indiscernible] that there is hate toward so many americans. kumasi: the vice president is leading a delegation to the united arab airman's -- emirates to express condolences over the countries presidents death. that buffalo attack has police departments across the bay area on alert most the san francisco police department has increased patrols in black houses of worship and they are actively working with local on oarsmen to identify any credible threats in the open police department says it will remain vigilant and continue to assess security levels as needed. reggie: the black community shaken by the shooting and local leaders are banding together in the fight against racial violence. we spoke to the head of the local naacp.

kumasi: it's pretty warm this weekend and this week will bring more days of summer like temperatures. the higher temperatures mean a higher risk of fire. we go live to the east bay with what fire officials say about fire season needing to be redefined. amy: hi there, just look around and you can see we've had one of the driest winters on record in the last 100 years. it is very dry out here and fire officials say they are worried about what's to come. all 58 counties are under an emergency drought. since january 1, the state has seen more than 1700 fires. wildfires have become a serious threat to our families and communities and now, according to calfire, we need to stop talking about fire season. >> there is no fire season. that's what we have been trying to get across to the public for a couple of years now.

we are getting away from using the terminology and the implication is that we are in fire season, there is an implication that we are not in fire season and that is not the case. amy: calfire says the potential for fire can happen when temperatures are low stop the best practices be prepared and they recommend creating a defensible space of 100 feet around your home and have an evacuation plan in place. mike: you saw it's windy out there and wind gusts are over 30 miles per hour in some places. here is a live look from a rooftop camera. the wind will be with us through the day today and bring in cooler weather but the week ahead is pretty warm and we will show you some of those numbers. the pollen is back at high levels. it was moderate last weeks or more tree pollen is in the atmosphere this week grass pollen is moderate and we is low

with a fair amount of cloud covers a mostly cloudy conditions and we will see the cloud cover break down for afternoon sunshine today with partly cloudy skies by 4 p.m. and breezy and the cooler day with temperatures around the bay shoreline in the 60's and 70's but another warming trend will begin tomorrow when we will talk about that coming up in about eight minutes. reggie: fire season is over. i mean that firefighters say the term fire season is now out dated. it's now year-round retina doesn't help when we have temperatures in the 90's this week. amy: firefighters say we need to stop talking about fire season. they say there is no such thing stop since the beginning of this year, they have been busy across our state with almost 2000 fires this year. we are only in the middle of may and firefighters say this was the driest enter on record in the last 100 years.

reggie: thank you. let's turn to the grocery store massacre in buffalo, new york stop the suspect carried out a racist shooting at a grocery store in a predominantly like neighborhood. his goal allegedly was to take out as many black people as possible. we are learning more about the 10 people who were killed and they include a substitute teacher, a security guard and a church deacon. >> it's heart wrenching. > a community in morning. >> i am sad, i'm hurt, i'm mad because i never would've thought it would have happened here. >> police in identifying all 10 of the victims when a gunman opened fire at a grocery store in buffalo, new york. among them, a 67-year-old, a deacon in a local church. his friend said he would often volunteer to drive people to the store if they did not have

transportation. >> he was the one that transported them back-and-forth so they could continue to survive. >> a 77-year-old was the substitute teacher and her family all her eight teller of the community. and a 55-year-old security officer who was a retired cop, died exchanging gunfire with this shooter. >> he was a hero who tried to protect people in the store and tried to save lives and in the process lost his own life. >> police at the suspect is from eight town 3.5 hours away and arrived heavily armed wearing tactical gear and a camera to livestream the massacre. the u.s. department of justice is now investigating the mass shooting as a hate crime. reggie: new this morning, we are hearing from a mother and daughter who ran from that grocery store as the shots rang out. >> i had grabbed her arm as i

started running so i'm thinking she was behind me the whole time but never looked back. the mother and daughter both bumped into me and the daughter fell to the ground. i literally thought i was gone at that point. i'm not sure how i got to keep running but i didn't look behind me until i got to the back door. i was devastated to see my daughter was not with me. reggie: she and her daughter both made it out alive. you can hear their full story coming up on good morning america at 7:00 a.m. kumasi: in southern california, there is an investigation into another deadly shooting at a church. jobyna: sunday luncheon in laguna hills turn deadly when a man shot multiple people. one person died and five others were hurt in the vic's ages range from 66-92 years old and

since attendance dropped 30% and runs from the third verse thursday in may to the last thursday in september the nonprofit has partnered with a local merchant to offer customers $30 bounty boxes they're filled with seasonal fruit and vegetables. the future of part of nasa's main street is up for grabs tomorrow. they are considering whether to close one downtown block. the block between second and 3rd street downtown has been closed to traffic since august of 2020 and that has allowed restaurants to expand to outdoor dining. the closer temporary and it will stay in place until november 1. reggie: santa rosa is adding 200 scooters as part of a pilot program. they will be scattered throughout the city including downtown. it will last for a year and then it's up to the city to decide if it will continue or put an end to it. kumasi: special celebration for

[inspirational music] reggie: in major announcement about mcdonald's overnight. jobyna: mcdonald's announcing it is pulling out of the russian market, selling off its 850 stores to a local buyer. the stores have been closed since march shortly after russia invaded ukraine. mcdonald said the humanitarian rises caused by the war and the unprecedented -- and the unpredictable environment led to their decision. once the sale is finalized, the russian restaurant will be de-asrced so the golden arches will no longer be in place. mcdonald said the decision was
