across the country on saturday 10 people died in a mass shooting at a grocery store in buffalo new york investigators say it was driven by racism yesterday afternoon a shooter inside a southern california church left at least one person dead and in milwaukee a playoff watch party for the bucks got canceled following a series of shootings that left 21 people hurt. officials are expected to give more information on the church shooting in orange county today that shooting happened in the town of laguna woods, which is about an hour south of los angeles in addition to the one person killed there at least five other people were hurt. none of the victims have been identified so far. spec has been arrested officials say the injured people are all asian between 66 and 92 years old. in buffalo new york investigator say racism was behind that mass shooting at a supermarket. they believe the gunman chose the market because it's in a zip code where 73% of the residents are black. you've been a police are saying this morning that it actually

murder. he could also face federal hate crime charges president. biden is set to visit buffalo tomorrow to meet with the families of the victims. kamasi. thank you. jubina. the buffalo attack has police departments across the bay area on alert this morning. san francisco police department says it's increased patrols and districts with black houses of worship and it's also actively working with local law enforcement part. to identify any credible threats the oakland police department says we'll quote remain vigilant and continue to assess security levels as needed. the black community in the bay area is shaken by the mass shooting in buffalo local leaders banning together in the fight against racial violence reverend amos brown pastor of third baptist church and leader with the naacp has now responded to the shooting. he says this goes far beyond one community that the shooter in it was just one example of hate in our country. it shows that america is still. infected with this virus of race injustice and downright inhumane

there is no such thing anymore since january the state has had almost 2,000 fires, and that's because it's been one of the driest winters on record at least in the last 100 years, so constantly concerned now about wildfires saying there's no longer a fire season. it's now a year-round event. as an example. we've already responded to a little over 1,700 fires in the state of california between ourselves and our federal cooperators. just since january 1st through this week. so they're absolutely is a potential out there and that potential does not go away simply because the literature cool down. firefighters say the best practice is to be prepared to have 100 feet of defensible space around your home at all times and having evacuation plan. they say buyers can start even when the weather is cool like today, especially with these windy conditions we have today this could help a a fire really

get going and quickly and be tough to fight so they say it can happen any time. so we need to be see all of the time reporting live in dublin amy holyfield abc 7 news amy. thank you. now we turn to the grocery store massacre in buffalo new york. police. say the suspect carry out a racist shooting at a grocery store in a predominantly black neighborhood and his goal was to kill as many people as possible this morning. we are learning more about the 10 people who were killed they include a substitute teacher a security guard and a church deacon. here's reporter gloria pazmino. this operates a community in mourning. i'm sad. i'm hurt. i'm mad because i never would have thought it would have happened here police are now identifying all ten of the lives lost when a gunman opened fire at a grocery store in buffalo, new york among them 67 year old hayward patterson a deacon in a

local church. his friend says he would often volunteer to drive people to the top. or if they didn't have transportation taken patterson was the ones that transported them back and forth to their homes, so they could that they can continue to to survive 77 year old pearl young was a substitute teacher her family calls her a pillar of the community and 55 year old security officer. aaron salter a retired buffalo cop who died exchanging gunfire with the shooter lieutenant salter, who is a hero who tried to protect people. hole in the store tried to save lives and in the process lost his own life police. say the tactical gear and a camera to livestream the massacre the us department of justice is now investigating the mass shooting as a hate crime. i'm gloria pass me. no reporting.

area organizers have canceled the downtown san rafael farmers market for the rest of the year. the market has fallen on. times after revenue dropped by about 30% last summer and typically runs from the first thursday in may to the last thursdays of september. in the meantime the nonprofit has partnered with the local merchant to offer customers 30 dollar bounty boxes filled with seasonal fruits and scooters will soon be on the streets of santa rosa. the city is adding 200 of them as part of a pilot program. this summer bird will be supplying the e-scooters and will be scattered throughout the city including the downtown area. the pilot program will last for one year and then it'll be up to the city to side if they're going to continue it. america may have a pizza problem on its hands but not in the way you might guess and you're looking live at the big board at the new york stock exchange. you can see that we are down currently another check in the markets coming up and it's one of the beauties of san francisco bay to breakers back in all of
