pre-pandemic levels. dustin dorsey explains what san jose is doing to cut down on deaths on the road. >> simply walking on the street in san jose can be deadly. 33 people have been killed in city streets after another fatal collision yesterday. it was the 19th pedestrian fatality and the 31st deadly traffic accident of 2022. >> at this time last year, there were 17 collisions resulting in 18 fatalities and three of those being pedestrian deaths. >> last year, san jose tied the all-time death mark in city history. it is not just the south bay or the bay area. >> people all over the nation are trying to figure out what is happening. we have seen this nationwide surge in severe and fatal traffic crashes. >> traffic fatalities reached a 16 year high last year. in 2022 they are projecting the highest number of deaths in two
