about the high cost of living. their chronic issues here, but they are not the top concerned right now. it's crime. at least that's what san francisco's voted in. this year's city beat survey which tracks issues and opinions annually and now city voters could take an unprecedented step to make change and that's why we have team coverage on this topic for you tonight to talk about what's new and to put things in perspective. we'll be joined by abc 7 news insider film material, but first, let's hear from abc 7 news. anchor liz. kreutz liz. hi. dananama the san francisco chamber of commerce conducts this poll every year and it shows that is concerns around crime and public safety in the city are only getting worse more than of voters see those as a major issue the poll also shows a majority of san francisco's are unhappy with the district attorney and they want to see him recalled. san francisco is heading in the wrong direction. that's according to the results of an annual poll released by the city's chamber of commerce

the poll which surveyed 500 residents found 76% of respondents feel san francisco is on the wrong track 20% feel the city is on the right track. unfortunately this year again, we have some pessimistic views on the city rodney fong is the ceo of the san francisco chamber of commerce. he announced these findings at a breakfast this morning alongside mayor. read the mayor acknowledged frustrations about the city and pledge to do more to increase police staffing. i'm tired of people saying they don't feel safe coming to work. i'm tired of seniors and our chinese community worrying about walking down the street. 83% of the polls respondents say crime has gotten worse in san francisco. 45% say they are likely to move out of the city in the next few years the overall takeaway. is that people want laws and policies that are already in place to be enforced the poll numbers also show bad news for district attorney. sabudin 67% of respondents say they want him recalled the chamber of commerce agrees and i think the recall sends a message

that we want a tough. the top cut of the da role, but also probably sends a message to everybody. who's in responsible elected positions that they have to listen to the public boudin? told me tough on crime and that res office there is a feeling that your office is not holding people. accountable. well sure. i mean there's lots of stories you hear every day, but if you look at the facts and i know as a journalist, you're working with facts, you'll see that my charging rate is actually higher than my predecessor or than other bay area district attorneys when it comes to pretty much every category of crime domestic violence drug sales property crime. now boudin's campaign has released their own poll. it shows him down by 10 points. they say that this shows it's erased on other polls suggest right now still the da is facing an uphill battle and as we saw from this chamber of commerce pool voters are frustrated and may want to send a message dan.

liz thanks very much now joining us is c7 news insider film material phil. you heard liz, of course talk about how high the concern is about crime 55% in fact say it's a major issue five years ago. just eight percent felt that very same way, but the general feeling of the city the pessimism that's actually something we've seen before right it is and it's been on a variety of top. a transit for example in san francisco, and it's still a problem as well as the high cost of living here. that is really been an ongoing problem and we're seeing it again homelessness. that's not forget. that although crimes number one 65% what we're seeing if you put it all together and add in the recent recall of three members of the board of education again, because people felt that they weren't doing the job they were elected to do you're seeing a growing frustration and it's taking off in recalls.

were sitting in city hall right now. i wouldn't be feeling too comfortable about this. and fill in the survey, you know, 45% of people say they're likely to move out of san francisco in the next few years. there are always people saying they're going to leave and the reality is yes, and here is the the two words that could absolutely change the face of san francisco remote work. the idea that people don't have to come into the city don't have to see that that they can work at a distance means that they can move out of the city and still hold on. maybe come in two or three days a week, but they don't have to live in san francisco and there's another part of that. it's also the shoppers and the tourists. do they have the option they have the option of coming or not coming to san francisco that affects the entire bay area. so if san francisco has problems the whole bay area has problems and us something i wouldn't be surprised if we saw a similar numbers like this if you asked the voters in san jose or in oakland or in other large areas, which are bearing the brunt of everything from the homeless to the drawback academic here in

make meaningful change. the san jose police department has come under major scrutiny lately following reports of misconduct by at least three officers this afternoon the mayor of san jose and the police chief came together to talk about the state of the department abc 7 news reporter. zach fuentes was at that news conference and he is with us lives zach. yeah, dan, these allegations have been serious and they have shocked the community at least five incidents of police officer misconduct are being investigated and today the police chief unveiled the seven-point plan. he hopes will prevent further incidents and all the people who work here even more accountable. a series of disturbing allegations of plagued to san jose police department in recent weeks. least one of which led up to this video of police chief anthony motto walking officer matthew dominguez the door last week dominguez was arrested accused of masturbating inside a family's home while he responded to a mental health called late april, but that isn't the only misconduct allegation. the department is investigating.

also in april the department confirmed that they're looking into allegations of an officer showing up drunk to the baby brandon cuellar kidnapping investigation then last week san jose mayor sam. licardo held the press conference. resting accusations that another officer is being investigated for training a meth pipe with a woman to get information. i spoke with the san jose police officers association after the nations made against dominguez and the allegations of the officer showing up to the investigation drunk a lot of especially recent is making this take a very hard. look at our hiring standards our background processes at wednesday's press conference a police chief outlined a new seven-point plan. these incidents have caused. anger and grief in me and the 99.9% of the women and men who probably and honorably? where and hold themselves to the highest standards the plan aims to strength in areas like hiring

and background checks using third-party vendors to conduct reviews also strengthening drug and alcohol testing resources expanding mental health resources and more also in the plan chief mata said, he will be proposing changes to labor laws that keep him from naming an officer or disclosing the circumstances of an officer's firing even in cases of misconduct like the recent incidents all part of what mata says is a commitment to the community. you will not hear excuses. for inexcusable conduct yeah, so there are even more interesting items to this plan including increased training for supervisors and also random body camera footage audits of the officers video that they collect when they're out on call so there's a lot to plan and really high expectations from the community that something will be done. light of these allegations. well, zack it obviously sounds encouraging on paper, but what needs to happen before the police chiefs plan can actually be put into action. right so much of what happens and what is outlined in this plan is really depending on

in the low to mid 90s right around the bay it's actually comfortable 71 in oakland 80 in san jose. here are some live views from our tower cameras and you will notice that it is sunny, but definitely a little hazy for parts of the bay area from our vollmer camera, you can see that that is evident from our kgo roof camera. here is the of blue skies increasing fire danger starting tomorrow a little cooler than next two days and we are looking at mild to warm weather for the weekend so let me show you what's going to bring the higher winds in the solano county area and the heightened fire danger along with the gusty winds in the north and east bay hills. it's this area of high pressure that has built in now this system here is going to pass to the east and then that ridge gets a little too close to the area of low pressure and we just get sandwiched in between so we're gonna have that north wind, which is elevating the fire danger not just locally but also up and down the central valley starting tomorrow morning running until friday evening. so let's take a look at our fire

danger increasing as we had towards tomorrow afternoon evening. you will notice the shades of oranges and yellows indicating high to very high fire dangers. so the focus in the north bay solano county in particular, but also the north and east bay hills you're looking at that heightened fire danger because a wind gusts will be strongest over the higher terrain hour by hour forecast will show you those winds remaining gusty along the coast tonight if you're stepping out just keep that in mind going into morning, they ease everywhere along the coastline still remaining breezy and then tomorrow evening. you will notice those winds coming up 29 to 34 miles an hour fairfield 27 miles an hour and ramping up some more late tomorrow night that's going to dry out the atmosphere. so morning temperatures actually warmer. what we experience this morning, you're looking at 50s 60s it is going to be breezy across some parts of the bay area and then tomorrow afternoon in the south bay 84 degrees in morgan hill 79 in san jose 75 sunnyvale. so coming down a few degrees on

better bay area moving forward finding solutions. this is abc 7 news. a san francisco firefighter is facing felony. churches after a brutal attack on another firefighter the department has tried to keep this quiet. the past several weeks until a source there called the i-teamstand noise. he has a story you'll see only on abc 7. no one involved in this case the firefighters their lawyers or the fire chief would agree to an on-camera interview, but i've been able to piece the story together through sources court documents and other information obtained under the california public records act. this is the mugshot for 47 year old robert muhammad. he is pleaded not guilty to felony assault with a deadly weapon with several enhancements and one special. allegation great bodily injury the victim 56 year old gabriel shin told police. he has known muhammad for over 20 years as they are both firefighters for the city of san

francisco. it appears some disagreement on the job turned into an attack in the here's what happened. sources tell me on the morning of february 1st. muhammad went to station 25 on 3rd street retrieved shin's home address from a fire department computer and left with what's called a hydrant spanner a heavy brass wrench measuring about 15 inches used to turn hydr. on and off he drove across the bridge to shin's home in oakland and confronted them the argument escalated muhammad allegedly. shin with that spanner i want emergency, but he reporting. yes might be with a wrench on 9th avenue and east 19th street a neighbor reported the violent attack, but got the victim's gender wrong. it looks like a lady. with a lynch some kind of iron object by the time police arrived muhammad was gone an ambulance transport. to highland hospital where doctors determined. he had suffered a broken left

arm swollen right arm and concussion as a result of the assault one week later mohamed self surrendered at santa rita jail to face charges the attorney jim torres agreed to an interview but then backed out over the phone. he criticized san francisco fire department officials tours told me robert muhammad displayed acts of aggression toward colleagues and superiors for over a decade. he called it a pattern that went undocumented and unaddressed taurus also claimed within 48 hours of the attack fire department brass urged gabriel shinn to drop the charges. i wanted to ask san francisco fire chief janine nicholson about all that. but her spokesman said she would not be available because this is an hr matter muhammad's attorney also declined to be interviewed for this report. muhammad is out of jail after posting $30,000 bail. he scheduled to appear in court next month. i'll let you know what happens for the i-team dan noyes abc 7 news. and if you would like to see a

years karen ward and her husband michael decided to splurge on a trip to italy our 40th anniversary. is this summer and we decided to rent a goa in tuscany for a month karen fight last september on united airlines in business class the fair 7,600 for two tickets, so we splurged on business because it's our anniversary. they got their confirmation booked the villa and everything seemed great and then saturday i get this email saying your flight's been canceled. the notice said their aircraft has no longer available. they should call to read books. i was on the phone with her for three and a half hours an agent book two more tickets at the same price the later karen saul they were now seated in economy class. she called back. handing her business class seats, and they said no it's not comparable if i wanted the exact same flight that i purchased eight months ago. i would have had to pay $4,000 more. that's when i said no. no, i'm not paying a penny more
