that's coming up in a couple of minutes, guys. kumasi: you can always track the heat and the weather conditions wherever you live on the abc 7 app, it's available on android, apple tv, as well as fire tv. reggie: also investigating a shooting along the i-85 freeway in oakland, with multiple people hit by gunfire. ryan curry is in the newsroom with new information from overnight. ryan? ryan: multiple people have been taken to the hospital following the crash, and some people had gunshot wounds. people do not know where the shooting originally started. a crash happened at 8:00 yesterday evening. officers from oakland and chp arrived and found the car crashed on the seminary offramp from 580. the area was closed so officers could search it for evidence.

multiple people were in the car when it crashed, and some of them suffered gunshot wounds as well as injuries from the crash. we do not know how many people were injured in the crash and what the condition of the victims currently is. chp plans to issue more information today following this latest information. kumasi: thank you, ryan. the east palo alto city council will be meeting today to talk about a scary gun battle in a busy city park. one man was killed in the shooting on tuesday, three other people heard. police are still looking for the shooters. the video you saw was from a little girl playing tag at the time, who was recording when the shooting started. we want to warn you, it may be difficult to watch. >> tag! targeted. >> we don't want this sort of gun violence to continue within our community. it is not welcome here and we do not want to stand for it as a community. kumasi: 34-year-old ralph fields junior of east palo alto was shot and died on the way to the hospital. he is the first cousin of nfl wide receiver davante adams. reggie: and new covid cases are at their highest point since mid february. jobina: the cdc is recommending americans wear masks indoors. hospitals are up that hospitalizations are up 60% over the past few months, and in the next two weeks, it is estimated we could see 5300 deaths. new york and california are among the states projected to see the largest death tolls, and in washington, white house -- the white house is urging congress to act on new covid

funding, or americans will be left vulnerable to the virus. >> we will find ourselves in the fall or winter with people getting infected and no treatments available for them come because we will have run out. jobina: with the cdc set to expand availability of pfizer's booster to children ages five to 11, less than 30% of kids in that age group are fully vaccinated. that means most young children won't be eligible for a third shot. a second booster shot could soon be available for more adults. the cdc says it is working with the fda to expand eligibility. currently, second boosters are only available to people 50 and older. kumasi: president biden and congress are taking action to speed up production of baby formula. congress passed a law that would expand the brands a formula available to parents and certain government assistance programs. this came after president biden invoked the defense production act, in requiring

have to wear masks any time soon to go inside a store or rest aurant. they don't think the requirement will be coming back anytime soon, and that's because the hospitals have not been overrun. even though we are seeing an increase in the number of covid cases in the bay area, the hospitalization rate is still low. dr. erica pond said we should always be ready for the possibility that we will need mask mandates again if the health care system starts to become overwhelmed, but right now that is not happening. we also asked her why the bay area is such a hot spot right now. >> it's a question we are all thinking about and looking at quite a bit. this particular virus continues to throw curveballs, and i think it really continues to find people who have not been and potentially -- you know, we have immunity from
