his rescuer several hundred feet in the air before getting back f the cliff, falling down more than 200 feet. incredibly, he survived with only minor injuries. dan: thank goodness. a red flag warning is in effect right now because of dry, hot, windy weather. counties across the bay area are trying to get ahead of wildfire season with preventative measures, including controlled burns. it's days like this that firefighters train for. >> we are just fine-tuning the toolbox that we have and making sure that everything is working and catch any mistakes that might occur or issues that may need to be addressed. dan: conditions are so risky, in fact, that some parks are being closed, including rockville park in fairfield just as a precaution. let's go to abc7news meteorologist sandhya patel with more on that red flag warning. >> that red flag warning is in effect for good reason. let me show you the view from our east hills bay camera. the winds have picked up, not

just in solano county, but over the higher locations. mount town, 37 miles an hour, mount diablo, 31 miles an hour. fairfield 18, 26 vacaville. that north wind dries out the atmosphere. combine it with critically try fuels in that area and that red flag warning going until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow night. any fires that develop will quickly spread. we have a wind advisory until 5:00 p.m., north bay hills, east bay hills and valleys until 2:00 p.m. tomorrow, gusts 35-50 miles per hour will blow things around and possibly cause outages and tree limbs down. i will be back with the hour-by-hour wind forecast, coming up. ama: we have this video of this fight in san jose during the evening commute. it happened around 6:00 before highway 87. you can see cars slowing down as they inch closer to that big low of smoke as it comes from -- billow of smoke as it comes from

both sides of the freeway. we have reached out to san jose fire for more information but have not heard. dan: police are searching for clues in the murder of a popular oakland restaurant owner. the victim was identified on social media as 39-year-old jun anabo, the co-owner of lucky three seven, a filipino street cuisine restaurant. anabo was leaving the restaurant with his 11-year-old son early this morning when he was shot. people in the community gathered at this restaurant to show support. >> words can't describe because he's such a special person. you know, we had a lot of plans together, he had a lot of plans. dan: anabo is being described as a person who cared deeply for his friends, his family and his community. ama: the abc7news i team helps us dig deep into a crime that could impact anyone. we have seen the tragic results of freeway shootings too often

lately all over the bay area at all hours of the day and night. more than 2800 shootings have killed and injured people along u.s. highways and interstates from 2018 through march of this year. 80% of those tragedies took place in california. i-team reporter stephanie sierra has our investigation. >>, sherry and is in pain morning the loss of her son. we spoke to ann through her sister, who is translating in chinese over the phone. a mere six month ago, little jasper was asleep in the car when gunfire erected on interstate 880. a bullet struck the infant in the forehead. and now, living with an incomprehensible loss, the senseless tragedy a result of gang. crossfire. -- gain crossfire. -- gang crossfire.

>> she does not want the same thing to happen to another family. >> this scene is one of at least 215 other shootings that took place across interstates across california from 2018 through march of this year. around 39% of those happened in the bay area. in early january, 28-year-old david wynn shot and killed on i-580. the alameda county sheriff's record was only a month away from graduating. a seven-year-old boy is recovering from being struck by a bullet in vacaville. just last night, another shooting off i-5 80 that overturned a car, killing two people and injuring another. the list goes on. >> we've got to drive down violence and the reckless behavior we are seeing on california's highways. >> over the course of several months, the abc7news i team combed through archived data on gun violence. we found the interstates most impacted in the bay area are

580, 80, 880, 680 and 280. at least 79 shootings reported on this highway since 2018. the reality of the problem is much bigger. for example, if a california highway patrol, the agency tasked with investigating these shootings, gave the i team dated that shows the real figure is six times higher when looking at 2020 and 2021. in those years, reporting around 289 interstate shootings in the bay area versus 46 from gba data. like in wu's tragic case, most of them are happening in oakland. >> we have seen an increase and shoot -- in shootings and homicides across the city. >> we brought this to oakland police chief leronne armstrong after our analysis uncover the city has the highest number of interstate shootings in the news across the bay area 27, followed

by richmond, san francisco, san leandro and livermore. >> a couple of shootings related to group and gang violence. we've seen some shootings be related to road rage and we have seen some random firing of weapons, in particular, when we've had activity that has made on a highway as well. >> seems like this -- scenes like this as a reckless driver was seen spinning donuts across arlington. >> we are going to shut -- across all lanes. >> we are going to shut that down. >> how are you and your department working with chp to crackdown on these crimes? >> i think there is a couple things. . if we can enhance our technology on the highways, i think signage along the highways to let people know that there are recording devices on the highways. >> following requests by mayor libby shaft, the government announced funding for cctv cameras to be installed across the state, including areas of

we are highlighting a young man on the peninsula whose art is getting attention for its social justice message. lucas is doing his part raising awareness to end the violence. >> for a 15-year-old high school freshman lucas, playing the piano is just one of the many ways he expresses his creativity. but this is a story not about tickling the ivories, but how news stories about hate crimes and attacks on asian americans, many i broke for abc 7, inspired lucas to use his creativity in another way. >> i drew this painting and hopefully, it will spread awareness to the people. >> this sketch turned painting titled "end the violence" was part of a competition lucas entered at his high school. >> there's like an elderly woman with a band-aid on her head. at the bottom left, there's like people protesting to end the
