francisco gathered for mass. saturday night one issue seems to be top of mind for many in the community on friday archbishop salvatore cordeleoni issued a statement borrowing house speaker nancy pelosi from receiving communion. all of us pelosi's fellow catholics. wish her nothing, but the best and love her but unfortunately, this is a situation where tough love is definitely needed and that is exactly what the archbishop is extending. carmel. richard is a board member of pro-life sf. she says ports the archbishop's decision and believes. it's in keeping with the laws of the church the truth. we can't break into pieces. we can't kind of believe a part of it and reject a part of it now while speaker pelosi won't be able to receive communion here in san francisco. she could still get it in other archdiocese, but that's a choice. she shouldn't have to make say other catholics. jamie manson is the president of the national catholics for choice organization. it just very stroll and

spiritually violent way possible. manson says she thinks the arts. decision is an extreme one that doesn't correlate with the actions of other catholic leaders. she points to a 2021 vote by american bishops that fell short of refusing communion to president. joe biden or others who support abortion rights and worries that the archbishop's decision could ultimately end up doing more harm than good. it will only alienate catholics who are already quite alienated because of the other scandals in the church and the church's failure to listen to the lives of its faithful in san francisco tim johns abc 7 news in the east bay a group of three men kidnapped pistol whipped and robbed a woman near the del norte bart station in el cerrito. it had been last night around 10:30, and there's now a manhunt for the suspects the woman told police. she was forced into a green sedan robbed and beaten and then left at blake and liberty streets police say they responded to the location of a

report of gunshots after one of the robbers fired a gun the victim was taking to the hospital for her injuries. a bit of a scare this afternoon near vacaville a wildfire erupted off quail canyon road and cal fire says it grew to about 150 acres evacuation orders were issued to some residents in the area firefighters have made considerable progress and at last check the fire was 45% contained. there are no reports of any damages from flames. wildfire season has definitely arrived in the bay area and one community is making sure everyone has the tools they need to be prepared in the north bay today a wildfire. ready. resource fair abc 7 news reporter cornell bernard was there. i'm concerned for my family, but also just to be informed for my neighborhood. there's a weekly test jennifer rocco was checking out the first ever wildfire ready resource fair in santa rosa a one-stop shop for fire preparedness and

education. she knows the threat is real in 2019. i think it was we we saw the flames. come from the other way. so we decide to evacuate unfortunately, i think a lot of homeowners have already been affected. and so retroactively they're thinking oh, what can i do better in the future? and this is our walden pack. we'll wear this while we're out fighting wildland fires. there were tips on creating defensible space around homes and where to go with a wildfire prompted neighborhood evacuations. this evacuation siren was only a test three major wildfires in five years have taught north bay residents tough lessons last year. we had more acres burned in the city limits then we had and probably the last 20 years with the exception of the tubs nuns and glass fires and it really shows that the drought conditions are real climate change is happening. let's go cal fire started training its seasonal firefighters more than a month early this year due to increased fire danger in the bay area.

i just can't imagine being surrounded by fire. it's just all new to me antoine jenkins and his son cameron. just moved to santa rosa from texas. he's learning that earthquakes aren't the only things to prepare for here. people. just need to know. they need to know what to do what they can do and how to prepare because it's going to keep happening and being prepared could be a lifesaver. we as a city are showing that we're not just sitting back and doing nothing. we're trying to do everything we can proactively the santa rosa fire department has declared june 6th the start of prime fire season and with drought conditions worsening fire crews are gearing up for what could be a very long summer in santa rosa cornell bernard abc 7 news. a wildfire burning in yuba county is now 70% contained the golden fire has burned more than 20 acres near the town of camptonville, which is on federal land inside tahoe national forest the cause of that fire is still under investigation authorities say this is the kind of wildfire. they usually don't see this

early in the season a lot of larger fires who typically see in the late summer early fall. so this early spring stuff is a little bit different than what we've used to see in this area. highway 49 remains closed in yuba county north of grass valley winds caused spot fires along 49 which has led to evacuations. a brush fire that forced evacuations for several hours yesterday in mendocino county is affecting air quality here in the bay area the owens fire ignited yesterday afternoon near point arena. it has charged 36 acres and is 20% contained bay area air quality officials today. say smoke from that fire could impact the air across the bay area from the peninsula to the north bay. developing news and up-and-coming bicyclist from san francisco has been shot to death in austin, texas and the suspect is on the run and what investigators are characterizing as a love triangle mariah wilson was killed last week by another

female cyclist caitlin armstrong who has been charged with wilson's murder police say wilson had been in a brief relationship last year with armstrong's boyfriend wilson was in austin for a race the boyfriend who is also a cyclist told. police he had been dating armstrong for about three years and the relationship with wilson happened during a break in the fall. security guard who died in the mass shooting at a buffalo supermarket is being honored this weekend. kenisha's college gave aaron solter jr. a posthumous degree in communications. he was just three credits short or one more course salter put his education on hold because of work and family his son. you see their accepted the degree on his behalf. when they told me that they were going to do that for him, and they asked me if i wanted to do it. i said absolutely they told me to think about i said, i don't want to think about it. i'm gonna do it because i know that we're making happy. salter was killed when he confronted the gunman at the top supermarket.

had two weeks of sleepless nights extreme anxiety i was running on adrenaline literally because i was living on ukrainian time. and my brain was constantly working planning her mother's escape over a two-week period from one safe house to the next luba leaving everything behind the shoulders my arrows family albums my job my cat. everything the captain calling her husband her biggest support. i was just thinking what can i do to not get in the way and to support her and whatever she needs to do and that meant traveling to poland to pick up luba one of millions of ukrainians who have fled i think it was seven buses until i finally found the one that she was on and ran there grabbed her bags. gave her a hug and luba is feeling lucky to be safe and free on this northern california

and the view from our rooftop camera looking toward the bay bridge. these are our forecast features. it will be mild to warm the next two days then we'll get a summer like warm-up on tuesday and wednesday. in fact midweek. we might see inland high temperatures near the triple digit range, but it'll be cooling down sharply late next week. here's our overnight forecast animation starting at midnight notice. we'll see the development of some fog along the coastline maybe even reaching locally across the bay during the overnight hours, but it'll burn away quickly in the early morning hours giving us another sunny day. a warmer one than we had today moving along taking a look at overnight lows. it'll be mild and most locations. most locations will see lowe's right around 50 52 degrees a few spots will drop into the upper 40s, but along the coastline it'll be even cooler with only mid 40s there as for tomorrow sunny skies mild to warm conditions all across the region down the south bay look for highs from low 80s to mid 80s 82 at santa clara to 85 at morgan hill on the peninsula pretty mild as well. 79 degrees will be the high right with city with to upper

now as the baby formula shortage continues relief is on the way more than 71,000 pounds of specialized formula loaded up by us troops in germany onto a military cargo plane is arriving this weekend abc news reporter corina. mitchell tells us more help could be on the horizon. tens of thousands of pounds of baby formula will soon be on the way to the us and to the homes of desperate families soldiers at ramstein air base in germany loaded 130 pallets of formula. the flight is expected to depart overnight and will be the first under operation fly. formula. our team has gotten those pallets off of trucks that have come from places here in europe and they're gonna be loaded on to c-17 aircraft 71,000 pounds of formula expected on that first flight all of its special. for babies allergic to cow's milk proteins agriculture. secretary. tom bilsack will be on hand when that shipment arrives in
