legislation. but we begin with the growing criticism surrounding the police response. abc's justin finch is live with the very latest. >> reporter: mona, good morning. visitation services are being held for two victims of that deadly shooting at robb elementary school. a community both grieving and demanding answers as new details emerge about the response from uvalde police. this is new video abc news obtained from outside robb elementary in uvalde, texas. >> we're getting the kids out. >> reporter: showing police breaking windows racing to rescue students. we also hear what appears to be dispatch audio sharing with officers that 911 operators are on the phone with students trapped in those classrooms. >> we do have a child on the line. child is advising that he's in a room full of victims. >> reporter: texas law enforcement clarifying those calls minute by minute.

>> she identified herself and whispered she's in room 112. at 12:10, she called back and advised multiple are dead. again, at 12:16, she called back and said there's 8 to 9 students alive. >> reporter: sources terrell abc news federal officials arrived to chaos and confusion, a tactical team defied local authorities and entered that school at 12:50 p.m. fatally shooting the suspect, 77 minutes after the terror began. >> they heard repeated orders sources said not to go into the class but eventually they convinced their own superiors to let them do whatever they could do to rescue children. >> reporter: president biden and the first lady traveled to uvalde on sunday. meeting with victims' families, survivors and first responders.

[ chanting ] >> reporter: the crowd chanting do something. the president responding, we will. and the justice department is now planning a review of the law enforcement response in uvalde as it has for past mass shootings. the department vowing a fair, transparent and independent investigation, the findings will be made public. a texas lawmaker said president biden wants to tear down robb elementary school and build a new campus. biden shared his plans during yesterday's visit and also promised to do much more for uvalde. >> he said i'm going to bring you resources. we're going to look to raze that school and build a new one, look to get real money for mental health care. this is a community that's going to need therapy. there's one psychiatrist in uvalde, very few mental health

leader chuck schumer gave that bipartisan working group ten days to report back, and on that question on age limits, just two years ago congress voted to change the age limit for buying tobacco, from 18 to 21. they got that done. these lawmakers will continue to get questions about the legal age to buy firearms as well. maryalice parks, abc news, capitol hill. >> thank you. breaking overseas, the wreckage of a plane carrying 22 people that disappeared in nepal's mountains has been found. at least 14 bodies has been recovered. tara flight lost contact with the airport tower minutes before it was scheduled to land sunday. the plane's final destination is popular with hikers. back in the u.s., search teams in colorado have located the body of a man following the report of an avalanche. rescue teams pulled two other climbers to safety, they were transported to hospitals for treatment of their injuries. now to the travel

chaos over the holiday weekend, plans came to an end to abrupt halt for thousands of americans. as the number of flight cancellations piled up nationwide. this morning, delays and cancellations, frustrating millions of americans who were taking to the skies this memorial day weekend. since saturday over 1,000 flights departing or arriving to american cities cancelled. airports reporting nearly 10,000 delays. >> i'm here until i can see what's going on. i came here for my grandbaby's graduation and i didn't expect to get stuck. >> reporter: delta airlines saw the most cancellations, blaming bad weather and air traffic control actions. some airlines saying expect more cancellations, even as they reduce the number of flights they operate. alaskan airlines, even though we reduced our entire flights it takes some time for it to turn the corner. with travelers cooped up during the pandemic looking to travel

we're back with the fda investigating two brands of organic strawberries that may be linked to an outbreak of hepatitis-a. they were sold at major chains including trader joe's, walmart and kroger and 17 people got sick. they were branded heb. they're already past the shelf date. but anyone who has frozen them should throw them out. house speaker nancy pelosi's husband has been charged with driving turned influence. he was picked up for driving under the influence saturday night. he's since been released on $5,000 bail. speaker pelosi was on the east coast at the time. a spokesperson saying she won't be commenting on this private matter. accident reconstruction teams will be in savannah, georgia, hoping to learn why two boats collided killing five people. now we're learning a family of four are among the victims. >> reporter: this morning

investigators in georgia are trying to figure out what caused a boat crash that left five people dead. two boats collided on the wilmington river near savannah saturday morning. nine people total were on board the boats traveling in opposite directions when they collided. >> it was a very, very sharp corner. they were going so fast that there was no way that they could correct it. when they hit, the damage was significant. everybody flew out of the boat. >> reporter: among those dead, four members of the same family. a history teacher at a christian school in savannah, chris and his wife laurie, their two sons, 23-year-old zach and 17-year-old nate. the church gathering sunday to mourn the family. their daughter katie survived the crash with minor injuries. >> chris, laurie, nate and zach who sadly lost their lives. >> reporter: the fifth victim riding on the other boat when the two collided. identified as robert chauncey
