it has been downgraded to a tropical storm overnight. the national hurricane center could produce life-threatening flash flooding. it is the strongest hurricane to make landfall in the pacific coast since recordkeeping started in 1949. once agatha crosses from agatha it could redevelop into another storm in the gulf coast. julian: funeral services will continue for the 19 children and two teachers killed in the uvalde school shooting. we are showing images of robbed elementary school of where the funeral happened -- the shooting happened. funerals will continue for two weeks and doctors who treated the patient's said they are having a difficult time coping. >> my family immigrated to this country and my biggest challenge was learning to speak english.

and you just can't imagine what these children are going through. julian: today's funeral services include teacher irma garcia. her brother died of a heart attack two days after her murder. the family says it was a broken heart. an online fundraiser has raised more than $2.6 million. kumasi: we are learning new details about a deadly hang gliding crash in the south bay. a man and woman crashed around noon yesterday at -- county park in low pedis. >> described by fire officials as the fourth most popular spot in the bay area for hang gliding and paragliding, our county park was the site of a fatal crash. a man died on scene. he and a woman work together on a tandem flight and took off

amy hollyfield live in walnut creek with the reason behind this rise and why doctors believe there could be a silver lining. amy: true. hospitals are bracing for this rise in cases and what it could mean for hospitals, but doctors say there could be a little bit of good news in this surge. they say this surge could help the bay area gain a hybrid immunity for future strains going forward but we need to deal with this surge now. bay area medical professionals are seeing an uptick in hospitalizations but they believe vaccines are helping keep those to a manageable number. as far as why we are seeing a surge, it could be because our area has been so restrictive and has had such a high vaccination rate. >> because we were good for so long, we are susceptible to getting infected with a virus

eye-opening characteristics of how the virus is infecting the human body with omicron versus delta. >> people who are infected with omicron tend to get more upper respiratory disease, nose, throat, more congestion in the upper airways. people who had delta and previous infections had more systemic symptoms, fever, body aches. luz: the study by you cff -- ucf found the most common symptom during omicron was cough followed by sore throat, congestion and rarely loss of smell or taste. the latino task force was key in gathering data and followed up with those who tested positive at the test site and tracked symptoms. >> one thing also that we found through omicron is that after the five days recommended isolation, most people still tested positive.

arsonist who set in oakland furniture story on fire -- oakland furniture store on fire. we spoke with the store owner and his girlfriend, questioning whether they were targeted and why. >> fire, fire! >> what started as a typical workday turned terrifying after their furniture store went up in flames. >> fire just flamed up so i started screaming fire. >> david learned the fire was started by an unknown arsonist who walked into the store on san pablo avenue and poured an accelerant on the couch, lidded on fire and ran out. >> i tried to stay -- save the store, ran around looking for fire extinguishers while i was calling 911, own hold for 10 minutes. -- on hold for 10 minutes. >> it was insane that he had to

julian: time for your morning money report and a crucial meeting on inflation is scheduled today. president biden is set to meet with federal reserve chairman jerome powell, labeling inflation as his top priority. an op-ed describes a broad three-part plan including placing responsibility on the fed to combat rising costs, making affordable changes for families by cutting dependence on oil and gas and reducing the overall federal deficit. there may be a shortage of summer this year and add lifeguards to the list of workers. one third to one half of the 300,000 pools could be affected and it is so bad some cities are deciding to keep them closed. low pay and lack of interest from teenagers are compounding the issue.
