not even heard about it. it will take effect in alameda county. they were all dropped in february. once the omicron search formed down, but alameda county is bringing them back because of arising covid cases and hospitalizations. this county now has more new cases every day during last summer's search. the health officer is not that how long mandate will be in place, but it like it will not be for long. >> this is intended to be a short-term measure. to try and get this wave hundred. we will lifted as soon as we can. >> >> there are some exceptions to this. for example, they will not apply to schools. they also will not require masks on performers. or, if you are at the gym and swimming or showering, they will not make you wear a mask. if you work alone in a closed office or room, you do not have to wear one. >> this will not apply to berkeley. that city is in alameda county, but it has its own health

forced to close due to staffing shortages and the sheriff's department. abc news obtained a letter that was sent to the superior court last friday. smith says she will remove deputies from security details and palo alto in june. she said her department is dealing with a shortage of deputies who are leaving. they've worked overtime in the courthouse since october. one attorney says this could lead to serious issues. >> what happens if they don't get the notice on time? what happens if they don't have a cell phone and they can't get to a clerk's office? that is a big problem for all of the people who are affected. >> one of the judges in the letter responded saying there are no plans to close any courthouse. the sheriff said she will work to increase ocean spray >> in the first look, johnny depp may

put a mask mandate in to place. it is so new. we don't even see a sign at the safeway in pleasanton. they haven't put the sign out. masks are required, but they hopefully still have them. the mask mandate was dropped in february, so it has been a while. heading into work, one employee had not heard about it. it just went into effect at midnight. the health apartment just announced it. this is pretty new here in alameda county. they did put some exceptions in the order. they will apply to schools. it will apply to performers onstage or someone working alone in an office. but in most public places like stores and gyms, you will need a mask. the public health officer says he believes this will make a big difference in the fight against covid. it will not force desk -- deputies to enforce this. >> when we get the people in mass, i think we will see people get out-of-the-way faster. and, we don't think that will
