the golden gate bridge demanding tougher gun legislation. in be seen seven news of -- and abc seven news reporter spoke with them. reporter: hundreds of people dressed in awards marsh across the golden gate bridge honoring victims of gun violence and calling for increase gun safety. dominique brought her kids. >> i am here in solidarity with everyone here that is trying to get the guns off of the hands of children and to our school safe again. reporter: dante lost two relatives to go to violence. >> i know what it is like to have family murdered and killed. reporter: to event held on national gun violence awareness day was organized by moms demand action just days after the deadly mass shooting claimed the lives of 19 children and two teachers in uvalde, texas. pres. biden: nothing has been

done. this time that cannot be true. reporter: president biden calling for a ban on assault weapons, 1000 committee approving a bill that would raise the consumer to 21. a full house vote is scheduled next week that the bill has little chance of passing in the senate. >> they have told us what they want to do, there real beef is with the second amendment. >> [indiscernible] i pray for that moment. we will not stop if that moment does not happen. reporter: a congresswoman, a survivor of gun violence led sunday's march. she hopes there will be a political compromise to keep schools and society safer. >> if we had 100 people dying in a plane every day congress would be acting. some out because it happens with guns it is ok. it is not ok.

does not include stolen guns today. all of the guns will be stored in a police facility until they are destroyed. san mateo county hosted its own gun buyback today. they rounded up 500 firearms including seven assault weapons and 12 ghost guns. crews are making good progress against a wildfire burning since tuesday in napa county. calfire says the fire that is burned 570 acres north of a resort is 85% contained. crews are in the mop up stage. the fire earlier caused air advisories, evacuations and road closures, but no structures or other property was damaged. calfire is looking into whether a faulty power line sparked a fire. turning to new details on a deadly bank lending accident. investigators identified the man who died is 58-year-old david

weather, we are getting desperately needed rain. francis joining us in tracking their showers. meteorologist: i will show you live doppler seven, the satellite radar image. we are getting light returns near ukiah. we have had measurable rain. the system will sweep over the north bay over the next several hours. on our storm impact scale it is one out of five. we will see light to moderate rain that will mainly hit the north bay. up to .50 of one inch for most spots that we will start to see most of that rain between now and midnight. it spread south of the golden gate bridge to the east bay and parts of the south bay. some areas may not get any rain at all. i will let you know the timing of the rain and how much you can expect. dion: a local jeopardy champion

made history today, she is the first openly transgender grand marshal of the sonoma county pride parade. 50 groups took part including officials, human rights advocates and ethnic groups. the parade was an opportunity for the community to heal after a challenging couple of years. >> such a joy in this world that we live in right now with all of the anger and violence into all of the misery going on to see this great joy. dion: it is one of several events planned for pride month in sonoma county. ♪ in san francisco a bay area japanese drum ensemble entertained the crowd at japan peace town plaza. it marks the racing of the rainbow flag for the very first time in japan town. it is part of a celebration of

dion: jeff bezos' blue origin successfully completed its fifth human spaceflight today. there he goes, the new shepard rocket blasted up for a 10 minute flight reaching speeds of more than 2200 miles per hour. among the six astronauts was the first-ever mexican born woman to fly to space. the 26-year-old electrical engineer who grew up in guadalajara also joined the second brazilian to fly to space. she is the first passenger sponsored by a nonprofit and one of the youngest women to fly to space.
