it will be breezier to coast. not as hot inland. we are coming down from triple digit heat. it will be in the mid 90's around the bay. at the beaches, some upper 60's. we will see the clouds increase and it will be significantly cooler tomorrow. liz: thank you. for years after the parkland, florida school shooting, march for our lives is back. supporters across the country will take to the streets demanding tougher -- gun laws. >> from parkland to uvalde and the near hundred school shootings in between, students are saying it is time to march again. >> lives are at risk. the more days we wait, lives are gone because of gun violence.

>> they were in middle school in 2018 when they watched as parkland students -- rallying for tougher gun control laws. students and supporters marching in washington, d.c. >> because parkland happened when we were transitioning into high school, the shooting may be more conscious about my transition in my safety. >> the bay area twin brothers band together, working year-round to end gun violence. >> this mural a small piece of their efforts. >> we work with a local artist to raise more awareness. >>* saturday, they will take to the streets, along with students nationwide. march for our lives events taking place across the country. they said the goal is clear. >> to make a statement to the government and people in power, the federal government to start taking this seriously. >> encouraged by this week's

hearings in the nation's capital, or the house passed sweeping gun-control legislation. >> uvalde was a turning point to prevent tragedies like this from ever happening again. students should go to school and feel safe that they will live through that day and have their lives protected. >> that fear he says a constant distraction in one of the many reasons they will continue to demand change. liz: we have made a list of bay area march for our lives rallies. burlingame, pacifica, oakland, all of these cities have rallies that are supposed to start at 10:00 a.m. today. walnut creek has a rally that starts at 9:00, san francisco and sonoma have rallies that start at 10:00, as well. the biden administration is lifting covid testing

requirements for those entering the u.s. the centers for disease control and prevention announced yesterday the requirement will end early sunday morning and they will continue to monitor the pandemic. ty hernandez has the latest. >> as the summer travel season gets underway, the cdc is lifting requirements for international travelers to show a negative covid-19 test before boarding a flight to the u.s. the change goes into effect just after midnight on sunday. the airline industry has lobbied to lift the requirement that has been in place for the last 17 months. major u.s. airlines are applauding the decision. united says this is another important step not just for air travel but all the tourism jobs the international travel supports. jetblue's president said this will almost certainly boost

summer travel. >> a lot of people did not want to travel internationally because of the testing requirements. this provides peace of mind. >> the decision comes as the u.s. is averaging 110,000 new cases per day, one of its highest points since february. more than 4100 hospitalized with covid each day. a surge in houston. >> what is different is, the hospitalizations, although they have come up, they have not shot up like with prior surges. >> the fda and cdc will review data for pfizer's and moderna's vaccines for children under five. if found to be safe and effective, vaccinations could begin as soon as june 21. >> it would mean for the first time, essentially every american, from our oldest to our youngest would be eligible for

the protection that vaccines provide. liz: we are learning more about the spread of monkeypox in the u.s. the cdc has confirmed there are 45 cases across the country, more than twice the number identified last week. doctors say nobody has died from the outbreak. cdc officials dismissed the idea monkeypox is airborne. the risk to the general population is low. a specialist tells abc ns the majority of cases are happening among men who have sex with other men. a series of psas are being run about monkeypox during the event. >> much like with covid during the pandemic or that disease on the front lines of educating our communities. liz: california's department of confirmed eight cases of monkeypox statewide, five of

which in the bay area. with the january 6 committee, its next hearing will be on monday. three former leaders from the justice department are scheduled to testify, including jeff rosen. the trio will address former president trump's effort to overturn the election and his desire to remove them when they did not go along with it is plan. the committee played a clip of barr's testimony. >> in that context i made it clear i did not agree with the idea of seeing the election was stolen and putting out the stuff which i told the president was -- liz: the committee is expected to continue letting out its case that trump and his advisors kept spreading false claims about the election. the nba finals is now a best-of-three series with the warriors taking back home-court advantage. last night the dubs beat the

celtics to even the series at 2-2. steph curry delivered arguably his best performance in nba finals game, leading the warriors with 43 points and hitting 73-pointers. -- seven three-pointers. >> you can wanted so bad you sometimes get in your own way and everybody feels a little bit of pressure and it can go the opposite way. you want to try to leverage that in a positive direction. >> this is the best he has never looked in my mind in the finals because of his physical strength and endurance. against the best defense in the league. >> the heart on that man is incredible. the things he does we take for granted from time to time. he has gone out there and put us on his back. we have to help them out on monday. liz: warriors fans were certainly excited about this win

but it deleted some tension outside td garden. abc 7 news saw this fight break out. a number of boston police officers jumped into stop it. another fight started and more police officers jumped into break that one up as well. no reports of any injuries but our crews saw at least twoice. overall, it was a great night for warriors fans. >> i am excited. this is the most fun part of sports. losing your voice, cheering for the other team were nobody wants you to win. >> she came on a flight last night and arrived. got in this morning. >> i am a warriors fan in boston and i have to be low-key about it but i am excited. >> are you would all fearful when you watch and then away stadium like this?

magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition. police said he fatally shot a man on monterey road saturday night. it is the city's 13th homicide of the year. >> we are looking into more information on that case. folks are still hesitant to come forward. we ask they come forward and speak to our detectives. liz: he is also suspected of brandishing a firearm during a road rage incident in may. happening today, in an effort to curb gun violence, the oakland police department is hosting its first gun buyback event from 10:00 until 2:00. you can get $100 to $300 for up to three firearms. the weapons will be melted down and turned into gardening tools. the department is partnered with local blacksmiths and a company.

inflation has soared to its highest level. the consumer index is up 8.6%. families are spending on average $346 more than they were last year. it is not just gas prices. groceries are up 12%. the biggest jump since 1979. president biden is trying to find a silver lining. polls show americans disapproving of his handling of the economy. pres. biden: core inflation moderated the last two months. we needed to come down much more quickly. liz: the average price forecast nationwide is $5 per gallon according to aaa. that is$2 higher than this time last year. the average peeked over the $5 mark for the first time ever according to gasbuddy. california remains well above

average at $6.43. marin county is the most expensive at $6.66 per gallon. drivers filling up at one show station in rancho cordova took advantage of a gas glitch. the technical error had the pumps putting out gas at $.69 per gallon. one driver filled up for just $14. >> i looked at the numbers and i saw it was $.69 a gallon. i hit that button and it started pumping and the $stayed low. >> it turned into a circus within a matter of moments. liz: it turns out the mistake was a misplaced decimal point on the signs outside the station. americans are tipping less than before the pandemic, according to a report. some bay area cities adding surcharges, tipping can become confusing.

zach fuentes looked into what is linked with the tipping decline. >> service workers of the shops and restaurants up and down the street are working hard to help others relax. much of their income relies on tips. according to a report, people in the u.s. are tipping less now than in 2019. >> it is the opposite of what i do. i tip more because people have been unemployed. >> not everyone is as generous. take a look at the numbers from the report. >> in 2019, 70 7% of u.s. adults always to servers at sit-down restaurant but the number has dropped to 73%. inflation is cited as a major factor. restaurant owner randy said the pandemic and staffing impacted his business and potential tips. they added an 18% gratuity to every check but recently removed it. >> our staff was concerned about

removing the 18% but now they to some of us it might seempeoa obvious to tip a server at a sit-down restaurant but business owners say they want to remind everyone that other industry workers also rely on tips. >> the owner of this ice cream shop said the owner -- workers could still use the tips. >> they could use the money for college. they are working part-time. >> back at sushi confidential, there is a living wage surcharge. 3.5 percent goes toward paying employee health benefits. he said people have been more than generous. >> people are excited to be out dining and getting back to normal. liz: in the north bay, it is a race tuesday cool this weekend.

nascar rolls into sonoma raceway. fans were there for kickoff events, all of them trying to keep cool and stay hydrated. before the pros race, a charity e heck. it gets pretty hot and y make you wear a helmet. go and you have as good of a time as you can. liz: tomorrow's toyota 350 will be the first fully open nascar event at the track since 2019. 47,000 fans are expected to attend. it will be hot for them. bring the sunscreen and the water. frances: definitely stay hydrated. luckily for them the excessive heat warnings have expired in that area. here is a look at live doppler 7. clouds off the coast, high clouds passing through, which make for a pretty picture over the bay bridge.

there is still some dangerous heat today but mainly in solano county, this area in hot pink/red will have an excessive heat warning until 11:00 tonight , when temperatures will still be near triple digits. check out the highs for everyone. half moon bay, 67. san francisco, 73. oakland, 82. san jose, 90. our warm box will be in the mid 90's with the exception of fairfield at 98. at the raceway, it will be in the low 90's. we will see clouds move in, high clouds, through this evening with the breeze. the system to our north could bring us a chance of sprinkles tomorrow but very light precipitation. lows tonight will be cooler with that system moving through. temperatures will still be mild.

up this afternoon. what you will notice today, it will not be as hot this afternoon. inland areas will be in the mid 90's instead of the triple digits. around the bay, low to mid 80's. at the beaches, but 60's. much cooler weather on the way. liz: a live look at sfo, which could be in for a big business boost. the u.s. will lift covid testing requirements for international travelers tomorrow. tim johns breaks down the benefits for the bay area. >> one of the final traveling -- traveling restrictions for the bay is taking off. it will end the covid testing requirement for travelers coming into the country from abroad. >> the covid test requirement was a huge impediment to americans traveling abroad and for international visitors coming to the u.s. >> the requirement will end on
