bipartisan proposal announced today a new gun measures. good evening, and thank you for joining us. i'm dion lim we begin now with developing news on what would be the most significant action congress has taken on gun safety since the federal assault weapons ban was allowed to expire in the 90s the proposal includes further funding for mental health and school safety resources strengthening the federal background check system a so-called red flag provision with the government supporting states to enact laws preventing people who show signs of being a threat to themselves or others from purchasing. or possessing a firearm. it does not propose increasing the age to buy a gun but for buyers under 21 the deal would require investigative period to review juvenile and mental health records abc news reporter aikojachi as the initial response to the proposal. a bipartisan group of senators announcing on sunday. it's reached a general agreement on new gun legislation. it's an agreement in principle

and not legislative text. the details of the deal will be critical for republicans particularly the firearms related provisions 20 senators, including the ten republicans necessary to avoid a filibuster released a statement on sunday saying in part today, we are announcing a common-sense bipartisan proposal to protect america's children keep our school. safe and reduce the threat of violence across our country in a statement president biden saying obviously it does not do everything that i think is needed but it reflects important steps in the right direction. the house has been working on more sweeping actions on gun reform, but those measures would likely fail in the senate democratic congressman jamie raskin telling cnn. this deal is a baby step. he would vote for it's moving in the right direction. we're glad that the senate is finally awake about this news of this agreement coming just day after hundreds of thousands marched in cities across the country calling for tougher gun legislation. we're not taking people's guns away. which we should have.

bystander tried to intervene and he and the woman were both shot by the suspect before the suspect turned the gun on himself. only on seven now a millbrae city council member is speaking out after becoming the latest victim of an attack in san francisco anders fung was with his wife and two teen children walking your lands and on saturday at about 5 pm. that's when andrews was suddenly hit on the head with this concrete block. he fell to the ground and nearly lost consciousness when his daughter chased after the two men to take these photos. they continued to pelt anders with more heavy objects anders suffered a laceration and has a herniated disc in his neck. he says more needs to be done to stop these senseless attacks not just rallies and raising awareness. i want to make sure everybody understands. it's important to speak out so that our law enforcement understands it our policy maker understands how it impacts to our community and how important is for us to take action to stop

these senseless violence and hate anders says he is expected to make a full recovery. the investigation is ongoing. i hate crime investigation is underway in alameda county after five men disrupted drag queen's story hour at the san lorenzo library. we just received video that was taken after the incident now, you're not talking the sheriff's office says these men were described as members of the far-right extremist group the proud boys. drag queen panda dolce seen here in photos on her website was reading to children saturday afternoon when there was a sudden interruption. she says a group of men stormed her story hour and recorded on their phones as they yelled homophobic and transphobic slurs and quote totally freaked out all of the kids and adults says she hid in a back office with a security guard while waiting for deputies to arrive the sheriff's office says deputies de-escalated the situation no arrests were made panda doll.

blue skies to the north bay clouds to the south bay and that will clear throughout the evening santa rosa is currently 74 petaluma 71 and we have some mid-70s through fairfield and in concord and what you can expect is temperatures to change so compared to 24 hours ago. we are a lot cooler. in fact 19 degrees cooler in ukiah and about four to five degrees in san francisco and oakland. so things are going to turn around tomorrow temperatures will continue to drop so overnight lows will be much more comfortable with the dryer and clearer air. so in the north bay, we will see some mid-40s up in lakeport some low 50s in san rafael san francisco and oakland 53 and some mid 50s in san jose. so great time to open the windows too and let that cleaner cooler air. highs tomorrow will be comfortable in the inland areas. we'll see some low to mid 80s or warmest spot will be fairfield at 85 degrees livermore 83 really nice and sunny even in
