facing elimination, so the question is, which trent continues tonight? let's throw it cross-country to chris alvarez live in boston. chris: the mood if you are a warriors fan you feeling good, you saw that seven years ago on this date the warriors won that championship in 2015. maybe there is some magic in the air. that's going to practice yesterday and see those warriors, steph curry taking some time to appreciate u.s. open trophy, golden state with a chance to finish off the celtics tonight and force a game seven sunday. the warriors want to seal the deal tonight. >> it is very hard to close out a series.

spending like a drunken sailor on things that don't improve safety, reliability, clean power or cost, then we are going to overpay for all, and not get the 21st century system that we need. kristen: authors say the utility's business model needs to change in order to move toward clean energy. pg&e says 93% of energy from last year came from sources -- a company adds pg&e is a national leader in supporting rooftop solar insulation and energy storage. for these reasons and many others, the proposal will address the challenges ahead. a businesswoman who made an unsuccessful bid for santa clara sheriff has been charged, accused of lying about having

five years of law enforcement experience when she registered as a candidate. she received 4% of the vote in last week's election, not enough to allah five for the november runoff. she faces four years in jail. dan: a new effort is underway to get drivers to slow down your open schools. this comes after several tragic crashes and pedestrian deaths. reporter ryan curry is at garfield elementary with the story. >> thursday march the first of many changes to road surrounding oakland schools. the oakland mayor and other city leaders announcing the speed limit will drop to 15 miles per hour. their goal is to make it safer for those going to and from school. a car dangerously swerved right in front of the school. >> because of dangerous drivers,

we have suffered too many tragedies in our streets. >> according to the city, as many to pick -- as many as two people get killed or seriously injured each week. >> as you look around, you can see the safety improvements that oh. has been able to implement. those include high visibility crosswalks and now her reduction in our speed limits as well as signage. >> the target right now is roads in front of schools. the city says they have identified 20 schools that need lower speeds. 10 schools will see those changes before the start of the next school year. >> 50 miles an hour is a critical step to showing our love and our care for our children, our educators, our families, and our communities. >> the first schools chosen were based on equity factors and overall need for immediate change. their message to drivers, be

kristen: it's now up to the cdc to clear the way for america's youngest to get the covid-19 vaccine. the advisory panel is meeting tomorrow with the boat expected this saturday. the fda has recommended moderna and pfizer shots for kids as young as preschool. every state but florida has already preordered the vaccines. the sunshine state missed tuesday's vaccine, meaning delivery would be delayed. patients will be monitored annually. dan: covid did not help the learning loss problem for sure. last month the oakland unified school district reported that 47% of elementary students are not reading at grade level. the district is ensuring that

students develop those skills through a program called rooted in reading. our reporter has more on the effort now to close the literacy gap. >> summer school may not necessarily be what the students want, but it is what they need. >> it all involves reading, right boys and girls? >> for five weeks, they will focus on becoming strong readers. each student has been assessed to determine their literacy level. >> i go over it with each parent and student and the goal is to improve them as readers over the course of five weeks. >> i'm checking in with the parents, i am communicating with parents every night. i seen pictures of us reading in the classroom. >> the focus is not on

elementary students but paying particular attention to middle and high school kids. according to data from the district, about 44% of high schoolers are one or more years below grade level in math. one of the summer programs will be offered here at this college. monica montenegro is the executive director of the east bay consortium. their mission is to increase the number of students who graduate from high school and get them into college. this week she is involved in training the teachers who will help to strengthen these students math skills. >> that will all be taking math in the morning from 8:30-12:30. we want to keep them -- so they know what to expect next year. >> the math program will begin next week. kristen: the countdown clock says a little over an hour away
