here is a live view from mount tam. you can see clear skies over the bay area. here is your day planner. we have some clouds. temperatures are mostly in the 50's. mid-40's through the north bay valley and 40's at the beaches, but bright skies by lunchtime. it will be breezy especially at the beaches. temperatures are still mild. slightly but no -- below normal inland areas. 70's and also at the beaches, upper 50's. the sun sets at 8:34. get ready for warmer weather starting tomorrow for father's day and juneteenth. things will heat up with triple digits heading our way. zach: the warriors shot some video as players got off the plane at san francisco international airport yesterday. draymond green led the way carrying the larry o'brien trophy.

abc7news reporter tim johns was at sfo for the arrival. tim: sounds of excitement and jubilation. friday night the warriors touched down at san francisco international airport a little after 24 hours after wrapping up their seventh championship in boston. as the team departed the plane, many were saying how excited they were to be back home again. steph curry said the wind felt as sweet as ever. thursday's victory is the fourth title in the past eight years for golden state, one that head coach stephen curry says has not completely hit him yet. >> you are just looking around like, man, we just won the championship. >>kerr says the team was

the suspect was arrested and the victims were treated for injuries and released. there was no impact on airport operators and there was no word yet on the motive. it has been 20 years since jenny lynn was murdered in her home in castro valley. the award recently doubled to $200,000. the castro valley community just joined the community for an annual vigil. this year they may be -- there may be a break in the case. >> for 28 years, the search continued. >> is this what jenny would wane community vigil for their daughter. in 1994, then 14-year-old jenny was murdered in castro valley. her father found her body in the bathroom, but nobody has found the killer.

>> we are frustrated that after all these years, the case is still not solved. however, we were encouraged. >> because, new technology may lead to a breakthrough in the case. >> technology, techniques, and tactics the alameda county sheriff says sebastian shaw was once considered the prime suspect but was ruled out. he died in prison last year serving three life sentences for murder. all of the evidence has been examined with new dna technology that has given them new leads. >> we have a couple possibilities we are holding close to our vest. we want to make sure we don't disclose too much to potential suspects. >> she says it has been hard as a mother over all these years, but the parents are committed to justice and their daughter.

>> it is very hard. you know, we learn how to manage it. we know that it is sad. but we also know we need to find justice for jenny. >> families of victims and concerned community members are planning to rally today in uvalde, texas at noon local time. you can see the memorial in the town square almost a month after the shooting at robb elementary that took the lives of 19 students and two teachers when a gunman opened fire in a classroom. the controversial tenderloin center in san francisco will close at the end of the year. city officials decided not to add additional funding for the center in the new budget. it opened in january as part of mayor london breed's emergency initiatives in the tenderloin. the center has been something

shots to infants and toddlers. >> it's infuriating. it is making it very difficult for parents who do want to get their children under five vaccinated. >> she says she will bring her four-year-old daughter to get the shot as soon as she can. >> no hesitancy for the vaccine. my question is, if there are two available, which one will we get? >> oakland is trying to limit the impact of illegal fireworks this july 4 holiday in an effort to curb illegal firework use in neighborhoods and prevent wildfires. the oakland fire department set up fire work collection areas through the city. there is a list of locations. the oakland police department urges people to use the fireworks to .510238 2373. -- tip line 51023823 73.

role san francisco has played through the years. >> over 100 years ago, before silicon valley was known for connecting the world as a mecca of tech, this world was -- region was influential in the abolitionist movement. >> san francisco was a western hub of the underground railroad. their goal was to raise the money. the money for the raid on harpers ferry, the precipitating event for the civil war, came from san francisco. >> john templeton is a historian of black san francisco and african-american history through the west. on the second tier of juneteenth being a federal holiday, we sat down with him to speak about its meaning. >> it is the end of the civil war as the result of the courage

and bravery of 209,000 u.s. troops of african descent, 29,000 of them brought into texas in 1863. they were the ones who had the honor of capturing the last confederate state to surrender. >> this will be san francisco's 77th year celebrating juneteenth, the city festival is the largest gathering of african-americans in northern california. >> san francisco was the first place outside of texas to recognize it. >> tiffany carter is the cofounder of san francisco blackwell street. she grew up going to the fillmore juneteenth celebration. after the festival one virtual in 2020, she decided to start a festival in her neighborhood, the bayview. hundreds showed up. >> that was important for me because i grew up on gilman. that's my families house. it was time for the next generation to put a snap on

juneteenth. >> now there will be more celebrations through the city. the celebration on fillmore street will go back to this, with music, food, and entertainment. the one under the bayview at gilman park will celebrate its third year. >> we will fill out san francisco as much as we can. >> regardless of where you celebrate this weekend, john templeton wants people to understand the significance behind the holiday and understand the role san francisco played. what is it about juneteenth people get wrong? >> african-americans not only ended slavery, but kept the nation together. juneteenth decided we were one country. >> in san francisco, abc7news. >> there are so many ways to celebrate. oakland has a lot of juneteenth celebration. this summer town night series took over liberation park friday for a festival and movie night. a big crowd turned out.

there were multiple events friday through the city. many more are planned through the weekend. since juneteenth falls on a sunday, the federal holiday will be on a monday and the federal offices, stock market, and banks will be closed and there will be no postal delivery. school is out for the summer in san francisco about plans for a new school are moving forward. the campus will be the first and only school in the mission bay neighborhood. but does it needed? lyanne melendez explains the district's justification for adding another school. >> this is the empty lot where the mission-based school will be held. the land will be officially transferred to the san francisco unified school district in august, a gift by ucsf. the school will open in the fall of 2025. that means one-year-old ienzo will be going into transitional

in the mission bay neighborhood are two miles away from bessie carmichael. there is the convenience factor. on the other hand, the school district assured us that by opening this goal in mission bay the other two schools will not lose students. as of today, families in mission bay can ask to enroll in any school in the city. but once the district moves to a zone-based system, they can only select those in close proximity. >> the schools closest to mission bay now will be the bessie carmichael and daniel webster. >> groundbreaking is scheduled for october. >> a remote-controlled robot is helping clean up the beaches around lake tahoe. it says through sand -- sifts through sand to find small pieces of trash that would otherwise go unnoticed.

it can go through 3000 meters of sand in one hour. environmentalists are testing it to measure how much trash it can keep out of the water. corgi con is returning to ocean beach in san francisco after a three year hiatus due to the pandemic. there should be hundreds of them participating in costume contests, corgi races, and of course, plenty of corgi merchandise too. >> we really wanted to build an opportunity for corgi lovers near and far all over the globe to come together. the event starts at 10:00 a.m. sharp and lasts until 2:00 p.m. and is free for all of the most adorable dogs, queen elizabeth favorite dogs. hopefully they will have a really nice day at ocean beach. >> there will be plenty of sunshine later on. grab a jacket if you are heading to ocean beach.

it will be breezy, even windy at the coastline. live doppler radar, things are quiet now. we will see plenty of. a gorgeous shot from the exploratorium looking towards the bay and bay bridge. temperatures are in the 40's and 50's. san francisco is 52. oakland, 53. mountain view and santa clara are in the upper 40's. half moon bay has climbed to the 50's. from emeryville looking west towards san francisco and the coastal clouds, those little clouds are pushing in now. in santa rosa it is 45. petaluma 46. napa 47. low to mid 50's in fairfield, concorde, and livermore. the wind is calm except in san francisco. this afternoon the wind will pick up and we will see 30 plus mile-per-hour wind, especially at the beaches and into the bay. san francisco 36 miles per hour.

weather. here is meteorologist frances dinglasan. >> we have clear skies across the bay area and we will get plenty of sunshine. check out this gorgeous view from mount tam looking south. there are clouds along the coast. sunrise was gorgeous. temperatures in the low to mid 50's. there are a few 40's hanging on now. bright skies by this afternoon and we will see the sea breeze pick up again. temperatures are relative cooler but warmer compared to yesterday. inland areas in the mid 70's. around the bay, upper 60's to mid 70's. at the beaches, upper 50's. the sun sets at 8:34 and tomorrow will be even warmer and we will see triple digits next week. >> i will see you soon. new developments with last month's deadly church shooting in orange county. the accused gunman has been charged with hate crimes. prosecutors say david chou intentionally killed the victim because he was taiwanese. david chou is facing other

charges including murder. investigators found notes in his car that indicated hatred of the taiwanese people. in the south bay a valley transportation authority employee was arrested over accusations he threatened gun violence. another employee called the sheriff to a sport the threats at the bus yard. this was a year after a disgruntled bda employee shot and killed nine people at the cross -- guadalupe a railyard. the crime happened more than 20 years ago. now san francisco mayor london breed wants her rather out early from prison. the mayor's brother is serving a long sentence for murder, robbery, and carjacking. he has resentencing next week. dan noyes has been looking into the case and controversy. >> san francisco mayor london breed's brother napoleon brown served 50% of his 40 year sentence for murder, robbery, and carjacking and now the attorney believes he should be

released because of the law changed in 2019. >> the basic point is he does not meet the definition of murder anymore because you have to show reckless indifference to the law -- to life. that is typically explained as firing a gun into a crowd. >> is what happened after midnight june 19 2000. napoleon brown and an accomplice robbed the johnny rockets restaurant at fisherman's wharf. they crowded four workers into the basement and took $7,200 from the basement. >> the manager got a bump on his head because one of the suspects hit him when he did not open the safe fast enough. >> they saw him get into a ford escort. they followed him onto the golden gate and the drivers door opened and lentes white stepped from the car and a drunk driver headed southbound run over her.

>> the victim struck on the bridge was thrown from the vehicle. we have a strong indication that was intentional. >> that she was pushed? >> yes. she died later at the hospital. napoleon brown admitted that sb is his nickname, sonny boy. hours after the robbery london breed gave police an alibi for her brother. she told police that when she arrived at her grandmother's house around midnight, the time of the robbery, the defendant was asleep on the couch. as part of a plea deal, brown admitted being there for the robbery. i.e. meld mayor london breed's staff asking if she stood by the alibi for her brother she gave fully set the time. she says she stands by her participates in and involved -- participation and involvement in the investigation. the mayor declined request for an interview. i wanted to ask about the letter

she wrote to governor brown in 2018 asking to commute her brothers sentence. the san francisco ethics commission find her saying she violated a city law prohibiting city titles for non-city purposes. she says her office has had no communication with the district attorney's office about the current resentencing process. napoleon brown's attorney explains new sentencing laws are only part of the equation. >>'s behavior in prison is mixed. he has had addiction issues. he did participate in a lot of programs in prison that were positive. it is a very mixed bag. >> i spoke to the victim's mother. she does not want the polian brown to get out of prison early and she will say that next week. >> if you have a story for the
