by lunch we are right 80's and 90's. it is hot and hazy. 90's and triple digits this afternoon. the heat advisory will begin at 10:00. a closer look at how warm we get this afternoon in about nine minutes. kumasi: we are also facing a high fire danger. abc 7's news reporter is live with what people are doing to state will. ryan? ryan: you can start to feel it is warming up in the east bay in walnut creek, where the temperature according to the monitor over my shoulder just under 60 degrees. the sun is now rising and with that we know the warm weather will start to slowly follow. we know the east bay residents have been doing the best they can to stay warm over the next couple of days. we can't up with them yesterday as

the pool in waut creek. many people trying to beat the heat there. it was cooler. we know today will be hotter and that brings about the issue of fire danger. the national weather service says there keep an eye on the wind coming with this heat, something they say is going to hurt the fire danger. >> we are also watching offshore flow were north to northeast wind. those will definitely elevate fire concerns. ryan: it is something we will continue to talk about because this is a real concern and summer is only beginning. triple digit temperatures over in this area of the east bay. just last week we saw crazy fire breakout near neighborhood in pittsburgh and it was cooler in that neighborhood last week. now we are talking about much hotter temperatures and they are concerned about the wind and what that will bring.

workers will testify about how she and her family were threatened by trump allies because of the false election fraud claims spread by former president trump. abc news will have special coverage of the hearing starting at 10:00 and you can watch attack on the capital investigation right here on abc 7, abc7news.com, or the streaming app. reggie: developing news in san francisco when two people are in the hospital after a stabbing. officers were called the seventh and market streets just before 8:30 last night where they found an adult victim and a juvenile victim one block away from each other. both have been stabbed but the injuries are not life-threatening. kumasi: a man shot and killed by solano county sheriff's deputies was armed with several handsaw blades. the das office says 91 callers reported the man had a knife and had stolen a car. deputies responded to those

calls and investigators are saying jason refused to drop the saw braids -- the saw braids -- the saw blades when he confronted him and that is when he shot him. he later died at the hospital. daft that case has been rescheduled for august. -- that case has been rescheduled for august. he is serving 24 years for murder, robbery, and carjacking. his attorney says his sentence should be reduced because of a 2019 law that changed the definition of murder. >> is doing really well. he has hope you will get out sometime in the future. >> court records show after robbing the johnny rockets in fisherman's wharf the getaway car stopped at the golden gate bridge and pushed out the driver , who was then killed by a drunk driver heading in the opposite direction.

questions come and to that meeting he said he wants twitter to expand, reaching one billion users. shares rose 3% to $39 before the opening today. reggie: back to our other top story, heat and fire danger. ryan curry is live in walnut creek without people are preparing. ryan? ryan: that is definitely on the mind of a lot of residents in the east bay. at this morning has gone on we have felt it get more and more warm as we progress throughout the morning and the sun is starting to rise. that is creating concerns about the hot weather that being fire trying to find ways to stay cool . abc 7 spoke with a bunch of residents about how they are staying cool. a lot went over to the pool to try to get nice relief from the hot temperatures. today will be a lot hotter. i spent years lifeguarding on

those hot days. i know those pools will be grounded. that is what happens when it gets so hot. it is causing more concern about the fires. officials say the hun air will drive vegetation faster, making it easier to burn. >> mowing or do some yard work, anything that might cause a spark, do it before 10:00. >> got too concerned about the fire coming into our community, but at the same time we are aware that was of fire last week. it could happen. ryan: i was at that fire in pittsburgh last week. we saw how crazy that fire got close to those homes in that neighborhood. now we are talking about much hotter temperatures today. definitely on the mind of a lot of east bay residents. not just the idea about how they are trying to stay cool. that is one problem.

the teacher was seriously hurt and had to be airlifted to a hospital. the student injuries were minor. frech investigators say they are still looking into what caused that bus driver to lose control. it will be tested for alcohol and drugs. no word when the albany student will come home. registered nurses are planning to go on strike this week. nurses say the issues include a chronic lack of supplies, understaffing, and patient care issues. the disco day strike is scheduled for tomorrow and thursday on sullivan avenue. they will pick it tomorrow morning and hold a rally in the afternoon. hospital officials did not respond to the specific allegations made by the nurses, only to say they have made every effort to resolve the issues but cannot afford the wages the nurses are asking for. kumasi: if you drive across the golden gate bridge it will cost you more. darting july 1, tolls are going up.

the carpal rate is going up to 640. the bridge has the most expensive tolls in the bay area. summer travel is in full swing. the july 4 holiday is expected to be really busy. despite the record high gas prices, nearly 42 million people are hitting the road from holiday weekend. in the bay area of the company says the worst corridor to travel is westbound i-80. the busiest time will be next thursday from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m.. the court order will be 75% above normal. reggie: gas prices are still extremely high in the bay area but there is a glimmer of hope. prices are down this week. according to aaa the average price is 6:52 in san francisco which is down from last week. in oakland prices are down six

cents to 6:40 eight dollars. prices -- to $6.48. -- temporary pausing the federal gas tax. the ideas under consideration by president biden. he gave reporters a timeline. pres. biden: i hope i have decision by the end of the week. reggie: the pause and that tax could save drivers more than $.18 per gallon. democrats in the state assembly are launching an investigation into why california gas prices are so much higher than other places. the average in california is $1.40 higher than the national average. lawmakers want to launch an investigation focused on the oil this rate. governor newsom has a plan to send money to ease the financial hit but progress has been slow.

you can see how great the backup is. we are hearing it is around the montague expressway. this is northbound 101 in sunnydale and the crash itself is right around matilda boulevard. you're going to experience significant delays. i was tracking the speeds earlier. there are averaging around seven miles an hour. it almost looks like they're at a standstill. that is not great for everyone communicating in south bay. there is a trackside power problem with the richmond line. that means no richmond service in and out of san francisco. what can i du with less asthma?

kumasi: a missouri senator is in the middle of a campaign controversy. he released a video calling for fellow republicans to be killed. this is disturbing. facebook and twitter have taken action. jobina: facebook has pulled the video. twitter added a warning. we will only show you a still from the video. it shows the former governor of missouri owning a rifle while men dressed as soldiers ram a door. the video declares a font for -- a "hunt for rinos" which stands

for republicans in name only. his campaign manager dismissed outrage, saying if anyone does not get the metaphor they are lying or dumb. critics say it is latest concerning example of violence and politics. adam kinzinger revealed he was threatened over the weekend. >> this threat was mailed to my house and it threatens to execute the as well as my wife and child. jobina: this is not the first time he has been involved in controversy. his ex-wife accuses him of domestic violence. senate leaders say a person with such claims against him should steer clear of this rhetoric. kumasi: republicans are moving forward the party platform that pushes false views about the 2020 election. the document says president biden to not really win the

election and calls for texas to secede from the united states and advocates for the appeal of the 1965 voting rights act and rejects any gun-control legislation as unconstitutional. there also attacks on lgbtqia americans. the platform is not finalized. union city police need your help to find the rightful owners of more than $20,000 in cash. somebody found and then turned and $20,000 in may 2021, and then in july at someone else turned in more than $26 in cash. it has been nearly a year and the errors have not come forward. they are going to have two weeks to contact the union city police department to claim the money they'll need to give officers intimate details about each bundle of cash that only the rightful owners would know. reggie: a san francisco-based mexican restaurant has opened another location in a northeast neighborhood.
