secretary jennifer granholm. >> is there a chink in the supply chain that is preventing some refineries from coming back online? is it something difficult to acquire? those are the kinds of difficult questions we'll be asking. >> reporter: she is suggesting the president could invoke the defense production act to boost gas supplies. the white house accuses oil companies of benefitting from the war in ukraine by keeping the supply of refind products low while raking in record profits. president biden wants them on increase the amount of oil refined from crude for heating oil. >> bring down the price you're charging at the pump to reflect the price you are paying for the product. do it now. do it today. >> reporter: but analysts say refineries are already running at close to full capacity. the american petroleum institute claims the refinery shortage. some have closed due to environmental standards and no
