ask your asthma specialist about dupixent. >> building a better bay area, moving forward, finding land of the free, but we are not free at all. liz: a heated reaction after a historic day in america. the supreme court's decision to overturn roe v. wade will affect lives for generations. here in the bay area, the response was swift and at times dramatic as protesters took over part of 101. thanks for joining us. it's saturday, june 20 fifth. i'm liz kreutz, and we will have more on that decision from the supreme court in just a moment. lisa, let's start with a look at the weather. it's also pride weekend. good morning. lisa: we are getting typical whether bayside and shoreline with low clouds and fog.

as we zoom in closer, san francisco, parts of it anyway are little bit rate, but lots of sunshine here in the south bay, where temperatures are in the low 60's. mid-60's in santa clara, 57 downtown, and you can see the fog framing the city. numbers in the mid 50's in the north bay, there is patchy fog left over but already in the low 70's inland. it's a cooler start to the day, but by the afternoon, the 35 degrees spread will take us from the 60's at the coast to the low and mid 90's and our warmest locations. by 11:00, well into the 80's inland. a quick warm-up inland, and we will talk more about heat coming your way and the pride parade tomorrow. liz? liz: lisa, thank you. now back to the reaction over the supreme court overturning roe v. wade. take a look at this caltrans video. vehicles are backed up along highway 101 as the intersection with octavia. chp officers were able to guide

the protesters off the freeway and back on the city streets. here's a look at cellphone video from the freeway. the backup started to clear about a half-hour later. a look now in los angeles, protesters there got onto a freeway on-ramp. there was a heavy police presence and demonstrators were seen in the streets next to city hall, the federal building, hollywood and throughout downtown l.a.. at last check, police say they have no reports of violence. more protests and rallies are expected today in response to the overturning of roe v. wade. abc news reporter christine sloan reports. >> across the country, excitement and anger after the supreme court's big decision, overturning roe v. wade, from professional athletes -- >> pro-choice allows other people to be pro-life, if that is what works for them. pro-life does not allow anybody to make a choice. >> to state leaders. >> that makes the supreme court

overturn roe v. wade itself. the court's liberal wing drafting a sharp dissent. justice stephen breyer said the ruling was due to three justices appointed by president donald trump -- neil gorsuch, brett kavanaugh, and amy coney barrett. 13 states have trigger laws ending abortion access now that ro is over. 13 more states are expected to move quickly to ban abortion. christine sloan, abc news, new york. liz: crowds of protesters routes -- were out in force on friday. we are talking about hundreds, possibly thousands of people protesting this decision by the supreme court. in san francisco, the movement started outside the ferry building. [chanting] liz: protesters came prepared to make their voices heard.

the group set off to join a rally with planned parenthood and san francisco march sf. we take a closer look at the events that took place. nightclub in oslo, norway. the gunman was originally from iran and was arrested after opening fire in three locations in downtown oslo, including a nightclub that is popular in the lgbtq plus community called the london pub. organizers say they have canceled the city's pride parade that was supposed to start later in the day after recommendations by authorities. two guns have been recovered since the shooting and oslo police confirmed that the 10 injured are expected to survive. president biden has signed into law the first federal gun safety magis laois and -- legislation passed in decades, signed by congress this week. the president signed the legislation in a signing ceremony at the roosevelt room. this broke nearly a 30 year stalemate on capitol hill, becoming the first major piece of federal gun reform to clear both chambers since the

brady bill. this includes enhanced background checks, closes a loophole allowing people convicted of domestic violence against a partner to own guns, and gives incentives to states with red flag laws. the president says with this, lives will be saved. >> there is more work to do and i will never give up, but this is a monumental day. i'd bless us with the strength to continue to work to get the work that is left undone done, and the lives lost that can't be saved, that are obviously gone, but they will be inspiration to us. liz: mr. biden says he thinks the supreme court has made some terrible decisions. we are going to head to break, lisa. let's get a check outside. lisa: if you are here in san francisco, we have a healthy marine layer and a sea breeze setting up for the afternoon.

liz: thousands of people are heading to san francisco this weekend to celebrate the first pride parade and festival since 2019. police have a plan to keep everyone safe, and they are asking the public for help. >> pride will be back on market street this sunday is one of the biggest parades in the country returns after three years. in keeping massive crowds safe, that's the goal of police chief william scott. he says every available officer will be on duty. >> first of all, we need the eyes and ears of vigilance to be at the forefront of everybody's minds. >> the chief urges the public that if you see something, say something. scott says his department is working with federal authorities, especially after police in idaho arrested 31

post and they have a trans son. they are here in san francisco and it is important for them to support the community. >> their bosses paying for their trip so they can march. >> what you feel? >> i'm getting emotional. i was not expecting that, but it's very validating. i don't have a lot of support. it means a lot, you know? >> flags waving proudly down dolores street onto market, the trans community in support of one another, along with their allies. >> it's been a while since i have been able to gather in this type of way with the queer community, so it is refreshing and empowering to see so many people out here celebrating. >> rachel says well it can be tough to stay hopeful, she leaves one step at a time, the trans community will someday be fully accepted. >> i think there is a lot of good out there and case in point, by seeing this turnout

and all the smiles on people's faces, you can't stop that. >> tara campbell, abc7news. liz: san francisco city hall once again offered extra marriage ceremonies eating up to pride. the environment was colorful, including a rainbow photo booth and a marriage pride themed license. many people signed up to celebrate and tie the knot. >> we opened up 100 spots extra for marriage ceremonies and we are marrying people all over city hall. we missed the last couple of years because of the pandemic, but we are excited to open up this space again for all this love. liz: volunteer fpd marriage commissioners officiated these weddings. some couples say they wanted to get married this week so they could celebrate pride for years to come. congrats to all of them. remember, abc7news your home for coverage of the pride parade and starts sunday at 10:30.

from san francisco to oakland to redwood city. the sea breeze allowing for good air throughout the afternoon and this morning, a bit cooler out there by a few degrees, but we wish we could spread that around, because it has been awfully warm in the afternoon. you will get a chance to cool off, but not until after the weekend. post bayside fog -- post and bayside fog dissipating today, mild at the beaches, and the pattern holds for the most part on monday. the sea breeze is not going anywhere in the low cloud deck is getting compressed a little bit more tomorrow. today is sunny, the fog comes back overnight and then pulling back to the shoreline again. despite that, we are going to see a few degrees of warming. you will see how those triple digit heat readings are when we get to our high temperature map, but the sea breeze will keep redwood city and newark on the comfortable side, as well as berkeley and san francisco,

liz: chevron is downsizing in the bay area. they are looking to sell their headquarters in san ramon and moved to a leased space in the same city. at the same time, the wall street journal reports the company is offering to cover moving expenses for employees willing to relocate to houston, texas, home to three times as many chevron and as california. small businesses are struggling to stay afloat with inflation as prices soar. melanie woodrow spoke with a local economist and one business owner who says she is worried her bakeshop survive. >> thanks to ppp loans, this dick schaap stayed open during the height of the pandemic. now the owner fears inflation may put her out of business. >> it's hard to get through the pandemic, be at this point and then be like, are we going to be able to survive this? >> she recently raised prices by

10%, but it is not enough to cover costs. >> i used to be $1.25. as of now, they are six dollars. cake boxes, coffee cups, dairy, eggs, butter have doubled in price. >> the forecast for inflation is not necessarily a positive one. as we look around the region and talk to small businesses, many are feeling pressure, whether it's from labor costs, the cost of real estate, the cost of goods and inputs they use for their products. it's becoming a question of, what did they cut back on? >> we may see more small businesses closing in the next six to 12 months. it's why she wanted to share her story. >> if you want businesses like mine, the vibe san francisco has always had, please do what you can to support them. >> she's hoping more people will shop small.

supreme turned -- hours since the supreme court overturned roe v. wade, the reaction has come in from around the country. >> shockwaves across the country. a sweeping ruling that overturned half a century of precedent, five justices ended the right to choose under the constitution. the issue is now left up to the 50 states. the supreme court friday overturning roe v. wade. the much-anticipated ruling upheld mississippi's ban on abortion after 15 weeks by a vote of 6-3, with five conservative justices overturning roe. samuel alito writing in the majority opinion that the constitution makes no reference to abortion and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision. the monumental decision now leaves the issue up to the 50

the governors of washington and oregon, creating a west coast offensive protecting acc ess to reproductive care. lizzo says she is donating tour proceedings to planned parenthood. she says she would be donating $500,000. her event promoter, live nation, is matching the donation to make it one million dollars. live nation also plans to cover travel expenses for employees who need to seek reproductive health care services outside of their home state. moving on now, the napa county district attorney's office has filed driving charges against the husband of house speaker nancy pelosi. he faces two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence causing injury. pelosi had a blood alcohol content of .08 two, just over the limihis porsche was involvea crash with an suv on highway 29 near st. helena last month.

napa county district attorney alison haley says her office has been flooded with thousands of disturbing phone calls who -- who claim that she is refusing to file charges against pelosi. >> i have been told by staff that they have been told that they should hang from trees. my family has been told that we should all die in a terrible drunk driving accident. liz: abc7news did reach out to paul pelosi's attorney. we were told she had no comment on the charges filed against him. a suspect is now in custody in connection with the fatal shooting on a muni train in san francisco. 23-year-old him -- javon green was arrested at his home.

green is accused of shooting and killing 27-year-old esther bowen inside a train heading to the castro station. the 70-year-old man was wounded and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. >> the photos and tips we have received from inside and outside the law enforcement community helped us identify him. >> green will be charged with homicide, possession of a weapon, and use of a firearm in connection with a felony. this was an isolated incident and not an attack on the lgbt plus community. bay area health officials are asking residents and health care providers to be on the lookout for monkeypox symptoms. california has had 50 cases since early may, and symptoms include flu-like symptoms, rashes or lesions san francisco's acting health officer tells the chronicle, we are at a critical stage where we

liz: welcome back. here is a live look outside. beautiful there from the suitor tower cam, this is peeking out over the clouds. spirit airlines has made the decision to merge with its frontier after recent talks with jetblue. frontier airlines is increased its offer and raised its breakup fee. spirit says this new deal is superior to jetblue's previous deal. . and frontier airlines had previously agreed to a merger of about $3 billion. the combination of these airlines will create the fifth largest u.s. carrier. new this morning, the new ugliest dog in the world has been crowned at the sonoma marine fair in petaluma after a two-year hiatus. >> the ugliest dog in the world, mr. happy face. ♪ >> ladies and gentlemen, here is our champion.

sports. have a great weekend, everybody. i'm larry beil. liz: let's get a check of the forecast now. pretty nice for pride this weekend. 6 lisa: the low clouds lisa: and fog banked up along the entire california coast, so no surprises. the fog will be pulled back to the shoreline for partly to mostly sunny skies at our beaches, and the sea breeze, you can see right now it is just hugging the peninsula there. nice weather on the way with upper 60's, near harwich here and across the bay, but it is so hot inland. 57 in the city, 55 and half moon bay, where a little bit of fog remains. 62 in oakland, upper 60's in santa clara, and you can see the golden gate bridge -- certainly gray out there. the fog is lifting in santa rosa with 60 in petaluma, upper 60's in concord, low 70's and livermore, so a warm day for you. as we get into are pretty good air quality today, we will be

turning more moderate tomorrow with a few more degrees of warmth coming our way into monday. you see the yellows here -- we will have more of that for the next 48 hours before we get into a much more widespread cooldown tuesday throughout the rest of the upcoming work week. three to eight degrees cooler to start out, but with the sea breeze intact, it will not get too warm here. in the 60's with coastal fog, hot inland, mild at our beaches and this pattern holds tomorrow, getting warmer inland into monday. we still have our sea breeze, and at the next four hours, you notice is the sunny afternoon, but the fog makes its way through the delta in the overnight hours. that sets up for some cool evening weather with the breeze through sacramento. heading to the northern sacramento valley, heat advisories around chico -- very warm, and a few showers south of i-80.

we are looking at a typical san francisco weather for the day today with upper 60's, fog to sunshine, a beautiful afternoon and even little armor tomorrow the not too hot and as we look at the south bay, here's where we have some warmer weather. upper 80's to mid 90's through morgan hill, but upper 80's through palo alto, upper 70's for san mateo. as you head to the north bay, you will notice the numbers could be warmer here. a nice day in wine country with temperatures near 90 in sonoma and across the east bay. 70's in oakland, 85 and you'll -- in union city, and the seven-day forecast -- warm today and tomorrow with a pleasant dayside and along the coast, the cooling trend gets underway mid week but we have our sea breeze each and every day going through the next nebo days, so if you need a bit of a break from the heat, you know where to go.

by the end of the workweek, for the fourth, it's getting cooler with below-average numbers all around the area. liz: we will be happy to have that break. in the south bay, enough is enough. that's what some drivers are saying as they encounter unruly and sometimes combat of customers. abc seven news reporter david lui attended a rally in san jose that many hope will lead to more protection. >> this is the plea from drivers who answer your app requests and their supporters. 50 at base workers have been killed in the last four years and others have been assaulted. this college educated immigrant from columbia shared what happened to her last year as she took a passenger from san francisco to the east bay. >> [speaking spanish]
