moving forward finding solutions. this is abc 7 news. you should have the same rights as everybody else. in the middle of the celebration there is concern pride makes a colorful and jubilant return to san francisco. but at the same time the supreme court's decision to overturn roe v. wade is weighing heavy on many minds good evening and thank you for joining us. i'm dion limb. you're watching abc 7 news at 11. on the eve of san francisco's pride parade. the city is hopping from the castro to dolores park and as abc 7's tara campbell reports. the mood is both celebratory and sober in the wake of yesterday's supreme court ruling.

culture, so they are down here with their entire family celebrating pride the mood certainly celebratory, but also somber in wake of the overturning of roby weight. yesterday we had a really sad day about what happened with the supreme court, but we're here we're gonna fight like hell concerns over what the supreme court's ruling could signal for lgbtq+ rights, including same-sex marriage. oh, it's common. it's coming they're coming for us. yeah, because they don't they don't believe that we should have the same rights as everybody else. and i think it's a matter of time that they're gonna come for us. in the meantime marching allies alongside including daughters it matters to me because i want my mom to be happy. and seeing her happy makes me happy because she's my mom we need everybody right now in this time, especially, you know, the roe versus wade thing.

protesters are hoping congress will act to try to legalize abortion and while that's certainly possible in the democratic controlled house. once that bill would get to the senate. there would need to be 10 republicans willing to vote yes. in washington josh heinecker abc 7 news those protests extended across the nation from coast to coast including here in the bay area voices and opposition cried out once again today abc 7 news reporter cornell. bernard was at one rally where congressman from the east bay joined in. more than 100 people stood outside the planned parenthood clinic in hayward saturday. protest the supreme court overturning grove versus wade ending nearly 50 years of national abortion rights i came because i'm i'm angry and it's my anger is building women all across the country deserve the right to be able to choose what they wanted to choose with their body. we are here to say we are not

going to stand for the stripping. of a woman's right to make her own health care decisions east bay congressman. eric swalwell told the crowd the court's ruling will not impact abortions in california, but warns that could change. we are a temporary sanctuary because the intent of republicans as a federal ban, and we're one election away one presidential election away from a federal banner. we're gonna let that happen a states begin to enact abortion bands and trigger laws. this clinic says, it's been helping women from across state lines since last year. we've seen double the amount of patients coming from out of state since september to receive abortion care services. friday thousands marched in rallied in san francisco to protest the end of constitutional protections for abortions from civic center to the ferry building in hayward. carl thompson was vowing his support i bet you if you were to ask a lot of these people we're out here. couple years ago in 2020

in alamo this afternoon after a blaze that began in a house spread to nearby brush it all started on alamo rancho road and moved rapidly damaging another home. abc 7 news reporter tim johns was on scene and tells us why local fire crews say residents there got lucky. a close call for residents in

one alamo community saturday afternoon. oh, this could have been devastating around three o'clock fire officials. say a house caught on fire before eventually spreading to nearby grass. my husband was home. so we had to get the dogs out. and so i was thinking things of importance which were my kids' baby bins and the dogs things were rapid response by fire officials. and fire safety precautions taken by the homeowners crews were able to quickly contain. the blaze one person has been transferred to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries right now. there's no word on a cause and the fire remains under investigation even though things turned out okay today fire crusade things could have been a lot worse. they're using this as an example try and get everyone ready for the upcoming fire season things like creating defensible spaces around your home and maintaining mon valley fire department. s wind would have been blowing a little bit harder if it's been a little bit hotter today and again back to the residents and not done their the principal space while saturday's incident turned out relatively fine

neighbors say given the drought conditions. it's still too close for comfort several say they'll update their fire bags and get evacuation plans ready to acknowledge. we really don't have such a plan but this is a wake up in san ramon tim johns abc 7 news a new wildfire is now burning in the santa cruz. mountains the rock fire is burning in an open pine forest near highway 17 in hutchinson road. fire is holding at just one acre so far and is about 50% contained. restructures were threatened when the fire was first reported, but no evacuation orders or warnings have been issued. witnesses say a man was shot on a bart train as it approached the west oakland station this noon police closed the station for about half an hour to investigate and investigators. say the incident started at about 1 o'clock on a train headed to daly city. witnesses tell abc 7 news two men aboard the train started arguing and the fight escalated as the train reached west

oakland. the train approached the station they got into a physical altercation. that's when a firearm was produced. someone was hid in the head with it a shot ring off. we don't really can't really tell you what happened much after that because as soon as that happened we hit the floor. the gunman was gone by the time bart police arrived on scene witnesses also say the shooting victim was only grazed by the gunfire. he was taken to a hospital and is expected to be okay bart has resumed full service at that station a similar incident happened on board a muni train on wednesday yesterday police arrested a 26 year old man for the shooting death of a muni passenger in san francisco. a federal jury has awarded 21 million dollars to the family of elena. madragon the pregnant 16 year old shot and killed by fremont police back in 2017. she was sitting in the passenger seat of a car that undercover officers tried to stop in

hayward a lawsuit filed by mundragon's family claimed the police were attempting to arrest the driver of the car, but when the driver tried to get away police shot at the car hitting mundragon. in 2018 the alameda county district attorney's office concluded that the fatal shooting was justified. a police pursued this morning in moraga ended with a crash in orinda killing the driver and critically injuring the passenger. moraga police say the chase began after the car failed to stop when an officer tried to pull over the driver officers say they ended the pursuit when it reached dangerous speeds and say that's when the car rolled over a hill and crashed near moraga way and glorietta boulevard. are was reported stolen out of richmond? all right shifting gears to something a little bit more upbeat all eyes on the pride parade tomorrow and really nice weather for it. that's true dion. you're early in the evening. we were talking about completely sunny skies all day tomorrow here in san francisco. well, looks like we may have some lingering morning fog, but that's about it.

it's still going to be a lovely year. here's a look at our pride parade forecast. we expect a few lingering low clouds in the early morning hours, but by midday mostly sunny temperatures by noon in the upper 60s to near 70 up to about 70. under completely sunny skies in the early afternoon hours and they will see a little bit more low cloudiness of filtering into the bay area into san francisco by early evening right now. we're looking at calm winds across most of the bay area and not really any significant temperature change since this time last night. so let's take a live view from our exploratorium camera looking at san francisco getting a little bit misty right now as the the marine layer is beginning to roll in 55 degrees in the city right now, oakland 5759 mountain view load of it 60s. santa clara and san jose in 54 at half moon bay and you can see it looks a little misty and emeryville as well, but we don't have any thick clouds there yet. any thick low clouds 55 degrees right now at santa rosa and petaluma, napa 57 we have mid 60s at fairfield conquered and livermore one more live view

from our rooftop camera. this one is clearer than the two previous views looking toward the bay bridge. these are our forecast features mild weather for tomorrow's pride parade. it'll be hot inland and mild at the beaches for the next three days through tuesday, then we'll get a cooler pattern. helping late next week. here's a look at our overnight conditions the forecast animation shows low clouds and fog pushing across the bay and locally inland and there'll be a lot of moisture in these clouds. so it's possible there could be some spotty drizzle near the coastline and then early tomorrow morning. we'll see the fog burn back to the coast giving us a mainly sunny day. once again overnight lows will be generally in the mid to upper 50, so it's going to be pretty mild almost kind of warm in some spots in the overnight hours and then tomorrow down the south bay sunny skies with high temperatures ranging from 86 at day to 92 at morgan hill on the peninsula 83 at redwood city 81 palo alto san mateo 78 meant to upper 60s on the coast tomorrow downtown san francisco. 69-70 degrees will be the high up in the north bay. we'll see mainly mid 80s up to about 90th santa rosa and calistoga east bay highs.

come on, there. it is oakland 76 castro valley 82 in the end of the east bay will have our warmest readings from low 90s to upper 90s about 98 at antioch 99 at brentwood and here is the accuweather seven-day forecast high temperatures aren't going to drop off much early next week monday tuesday. look for mid 90s inland low 80s around the bayshore line mid 60s on the coast, but the cooling begins on wednesday and then by the end of next week going into next weekend. look for high temperatures only around 80 82 in our inlet. low 70s around the bay and only 60 at the coast and that'll be some welcome relief for those of us who have been not we're finding the heat recent heat challenging. let's put it that way. yes, i always say it was bad, but challenging, you know, very diplomatic. i mean you are a weather person, so can't be, you know, too critical. we're always saying there's no such thing as bad weather or good weather but comfortable and uncomfortable weather. let's put it that way.

carrying concealed handguns in public is unconstitutional a decision that could impact other states 80 million americans live in states with proper cause requirements similar to new york alex pershey abc news, washington a notebook belonging to brian laundry was released by his family's attorney friday in it. the fbi says he confesses to killing his girlfriend gabby petito. in an eight-page letter laundry said he killed gabby to put her out of pain from an injury. it was found last october near his remains in florida. the couple was traveling the country last summer summer before petito was reported missing. family raised suspicion after laundry returned home without potato. authorities say he strangled her in wyoming's grand teton national park. moving on to new developments with the deadly condominium complex collapse in, florida. judge has approved a 1 billion dollar settlement for the victims as those who were affected. it was one year ago yesterday

the building in surfside collapsed killing 98 people. some of the money will go to those who were mentally or physically impacted by the collapse those who owned units in the building will split the money from sale of the land. roughly two dozen defendants in the case will be on the hook for the rest. a popular beach near monterey has reopened following a shark attack on wednesday lovers point beach in pacific. grove was closed for days after a paddle boarder was bitten by a great white shark the victim suffered a leg injury, but is expected to make a full recovery. i've lived here 10 years, and it was pretty pretty incredible to hear about a shark attack out here. i've never heard of a shark attack out here. so it was scary actually to me. and as you can imagine the attack has shaken visitors some beach goers have returned but others are staying away from the water even so beach employees predict crowds will flock back in just a couple of weeks for the fourth of july. jewel e-cigarettes will be on

the transformation. this is harvey milk sitting in his castro camera shop it became the center of the neighborhood's growing gay community in the 1970s for devlin shan to sit in this historic place roughly 50 years later is surreal. so did you ever imagine you would have a business here in harvey milk's old camera shop. absolutely not absolutely not shand is a photographer and in 2020 was looking for a place to show a series of photos when a friend connected him with this space covid put those plans on pause and the idea evolved inspired by the space. this was a community spot. this was a place for people to organize and so we wanted to bring that vibe back in we wanted it to be a space for que. people who don't feel seen or need space to to have that and to be creative here. he's like now. transform arts featured or queer
