the comment saying she misspoke. >> reporter: in washington last night, a vigil outside the supreme court where pro abortion activists protested the decision to overturn roe v. wade. >> this is not our america! >> reporter: and now abortion pills are in the spotlight, with the court's decision making it harder to get the medication. recent data shows abortion pills being used in more than half of procedures in the u.s. women in states where abortion is banned would still be able to get the pills online, or in other states, but in south dakota, the governor has indicated she plans to ban them from being mailed in her state. >> i don't believe that the telemedicine abortions are safe for individuals, for women to conduct at home, many times they're doing it unsupervised. it's a medical procedure, so i do believe that there should be a physician's supervision in place when that is being conducted by any individual.

>> reporter: other states including texas, arkansas and arizona are also working to restrict the abortion pills. >> seems clear d.a. could prosecute a woman for self-administering abortion pills because the language of the statute allows that so a lot will rest with the discretion of prosecutors in states and cities. >> reporter: seeking to prevent states from banning the pill which is approved by the fda. in the meantime, more immediate fallout from friday's court ruling in these eight states where abortion is now illegal, and 11 states that no longer have clinics performing the procedure. activists filled the streets from coast to coast this weekend. most were peaceful, but in vermont, windows were smashed at the statehouse. in colorado, a christian pregnancy center was burned. in rhode island, off-duty officer was arrested for allegedly punching a legislature who also ran against him for

lines at the airport are growing longer and so is the list of cancelled flights, but there is some good news if you're planning to drive. this morning, growing concern about fourth of july travel chaos. after the first official weekend of summer turned into a nightmare for some flyers. >> it was on time the whole time, and then next thing you know, i get a notification on my phone, flights canceled. >> reporter: airlines canceled more than 700 flights yesterday alone, delta cancelled more than 200. the airline blames compounding factors including weather and air traffic control issues. an airline lobbying group is calling on the biden administration to address staffing shortages at air traffic control centers which are run by the faa. according to business insider, airlines for america recently wrote to transportation secretary pete buttigieg saying air traffic control issues

related to at least one-third of flight cancellations. >> for me, if you can't handle the flights, don't book them, this is frustrating. >> reporter: air traffic is only expected to increase during the summer. tsa screened more than 2.4 million passengers friday, the highest total since february of 2020. as for people driving to their summer destinations, gas prices are finally on the way down, dropping more than 8 cents in the last week thanks to an increase in supply. drivers in los angeles have seen prices drop for 12 consecutive days. experts say the national average for regular gas could drop another 20 cents by the fourth of july, barring any unforeseen events. >> we could see gas prices shoot up if there is a major disruption in the form of a hurricane or other refinery outage. >> they have been decreasing but gas prices will still be the highest ever for a july 4th holiday. the national average right now is 4.90 a gallon.
