expensive we have seen across the bay area. hopefully, this money will go toward people having to pay for those top -- those tough prices at the pump. from governor newsom, people making less than $75,000 per year will get three hundred $50. if you make less than 125,000 dollars per year, you get $250. less than $250,000, $200. this changes if you file jointly or you have a dependent. the money from the state is coming from a new california budget deal lawmakers announced on sunday. the inflation relief package is $17 billion. it also removes the $.23 diesel tax for one year. lawmakers still have to vote on this, but given that this was a joint announcement from governor newsom and other top lawmakers, that does not appear to be any issue, it appears to be happening fairly soon. this money, once today's get approved -- once it does get

approved, that will be set out starting at the beginning of the year. much needed money coming to california during a very difficult time. live enrollment creek -- live in walnut creek. kumasi: americans waking up to big changes. this is the first week with out constitutional right to abortion. a congresswoman is now apologizing for what she said at a campaign event toward former president trump. presented if mary miller later said that she meant to say " the right to life." with roe v. wade now overturned, questions are rising about what could be affected next. jobina: this is expected to be a contested issue among courts and the biden administration. eight states have already outlawed abortion and 11 no longer have a single clinic performing the procedure. the abortion pill is still

available, but data shows 54% of abortions in the u.s. are done through the pill. attorney general merrick garland says states cannot ban it, but governors in some states like south dakota are already working to limit or ban access to the pill. >> i don't believe that the telemedicine abortions are safer individuals, for women to conduct home. jobina: abortion pills are highly effective and safe, with complications occurring and less than 0.4%. julian: pride celebrations have always been a form of resistance and this year was no different. thousands of people, as you can see, marched in the san francisco pride parade, celebrating the return to in-person events this year. pride also had a sense of urgency, with the recent supreme court decision on abortion. abortion rights supporters marched in the parade with chance in signs. how speaker nancy pelosi was among them. >> this year has special meaning

lisa: welcome to monday. we have clouds at the closest. -- at the coast. it will take time to see sign in the city, but you can see that deck of low clouds, sun coming up at 5:49, already looking like a beautiful day out there, but still quite hot inland. 54 in the city, 61 in san jose. 60 in santa clara. look at the low cloud deck here. the marine layer little bit taller. low to middle 50's in the north bay and into the east bay. we will be looking at the sunshine already in the east bay valleys. that will spread across the day. once again, it will be about 35 degrees. a little change as we get into a

breezier pattern. then, we will look at not only temperatures cooling off, but everyone is going to see a big cooldown. the accuweather 7 a forecast looking at temperatures in the 60's around the bay, near 80 around redwood city, middle 90's inland. the rest of the work week, a dramatic cooldown into the fourth of july weekend. jobina: good morning, everyone. starting off with a crash in san jose. will face a slowdown on northbound 10 mickey road. we have some really good news that just came in from bart. they broke a sunday ridership record, in terms of post-pandemic world that we are at we are in right now. bart recorded 133,000 905 passengers yesterday, taking the train to and from pride. it was very busy. this is the highest sunday ridership since march 2020. a live look at the bay bridge, metering lights came on at 5:45

90's. this fog here, as we view it from the peak, will not help you out. the sea breeze is confined to portions of the bayshore. and, of course, because. 61 in san jose, although this morning, we had a nice southwesterly wind through the delta, up to about 25 mph to 30 mph. that backing off, low clouds shredding the building. 56 in concord, the fog quite dense at the coast, even some wipers possibly needed there. maybe around the bridges. you can see visibility in santa rosa is reduced to 1.75 miles. in the south bay, warm here. you get down toward morgan hill and gilroy, it is hot. on the peninsula, we will retain that heat as the sea breeze comes into play. san mateo, belmont, redwood shores, looking nice through the upward -- the upper 70's.

it is monday, june 27. we thank you so much for joining us this monday. kumasi: let's take a look across the bay area paired we are checking in with lisa with what we can expect in the forecast. lisa: the morning tp we are waking up to what we have had the past couple of days, which is low clouds and fog. in fact, mist and drizzle at the shoreline.

as you look at the state, you can see everyone has a low clouds and fog. that certainly will dictate the weather around the bay and at the coast, as that sea breeze takes us in the afternoon. the fog, visibility reduced in the north bay. santa rosa at .75 miles. it is better elsewhere around the bay, but we are certainly looking at wipers perhaps needed along the coast. check out that view of santa cruz. yesterday was 83, today we are expecting 81. 54 in san francisco, 57 in oakland, low 60's first seven josé and santa clara. you can see the deck of low clouds that has grown a little bit since yesterday. it was hovering from 500 to 600 feet. now, increased about 1300 feet. as a result, we are going to take some time to clear back from the bay. a nice afternoon, but still warm inland. 54 in napa, as where is fairfield. you had a breezy southwest wind

throughout the morning hours. usually, that is indicative of a cooler day, but not the case yet, as high pressure is still holding on. we get into the late morning hours toward noon time and look at the warmth. middle and upper 80's. as we get closer to the bay, comfortable in the 70's. the sun is out and will be out in the city through the early afternoon. i'm looking at temperatures climbing through the low to middle 80's in the south bay, 90's up in wine country as we get toward the afternoon, that fog is coming back into play. it will be a typical june day as we rounded out for the rest of the work week. then, we are talking about a cooldown for july. julian: thank you. much needed financial relief could be on its way from the state. lawmakers announcing a plan to give residents stimulus money to help with rising inflation costs. ryan curry is look for us in walnut creek this morning, breaking it all down. good morning. tinder good morning -- dion:

good morning. it will be giving relief to everyone from rising prices at the grocery store to rising prices at the pump air at we know this is not the most extensive in the bay area, but when we're talking about expenses over five dollars per hour -- gallon, that's not something we want to see. according to an announcement from governor newsom and other lawmakers, the way it will work is they will be sending money based on income from the previous year. it says anybody making under $75,000 per year will get $350. if you make less than 125 thousand dollars, that is $250. if you like -- if you make less than $250,000, $200. he make it more money if you have to file jointly or have a dependent. then, you get a little more from the state. all of that still depends. the goal is that they will

hopefully pass this soon, given that it still has to go to the house to be voted on by the legislature. hopefully, that happens soon. there does not appear to be a p. when that does happen, they do envision sending checks starting in early october, is when their initial goal is. they do envision most californians will be getting these payments coming toward the start of the year. it is still a little bit of a ways away, but much needed relief is coming toward californians who are struggling to afford basic things right now. list in walnut creek, ryan curry, abc 7 news. kumasi: thank you. growing concern about worth of july travel. the first official weekend of summer turned into nightmare for some flyers. some good news if you're planning to drive. jobina: we have the good news at the end of this report. how any of us know people who have been completely stuck at the airport? with more holiday travel this summer, it will get complicated at the airport. yesterday alone, 700 flights were canceled. delta canceled more than 200 flights.

the airplane -- the airline lamed weather, shortage of controllers, and it left passengers frustrated. >> i think if you can't handle these flights, then just don't book them. it is very frustrating to be stranded at an airport. jobina: an airline lobbying group is calling on the biden administration to address staffing shortages. for now, you should be prepared for long-lived's, delays, and cancellations of the airport. traffic is expected to increase over the summer. more than 2.4 million people traveled friday, the highest since 2020. there is a little glimmer of hope here if you are driving. gas prices have been dropping, although slowly, for nearly two weeks. we are going to look at those gas prices right now. kumasi: thank you, jobina. as you can see here, $6.45 is the average for a gallon in san francisco. in oakland, $6.40.

san jose, $6.37. it is an average of $.10 cheaper from last week. julian: along with high gas prices, there is to upper -- there is troubling news of gas being stolen out of someone's car in oakland. the victim says the thieves broke into the suv and the gas tank. j.r. stone is following this story that you will only see on abc 7 news. >> that's what were doing? that's what were doing? yes, all on camera. j.r.: tense moments as a hammer stone at a car after this woman says she cut these two individuals inside her husband's suv, after they not only broke into it, but also busted into that suv's gas tank, too. it had a lock on it. >> you hear stories like this, but you don't actually see. you try to prevent it by putting a lock on it, then realize that people are still able to get to your gas by drilling through it. j.r.: it happened on 30 5th avenue, where her mother lives.

the suv was parked on the street in the area. she noticed the doors were open and yelled toward the people inside, who got in their white suv and drove off. she says she then got in her car a short time later and then noticed the two appearing to canvass the neighborhood. upon confronting them, the woman took out her red hammer and hit her car. haggai's presses are not, the police say they took about half a tank of gas and says that is just wrong. >> it's still no excuse to do something like that, because you don't know what that person is going through and how tough it is for them. it is tough for us, too, but we are not going around to steal people's gas. j.r.: we poured out the faces of these two, because people have not named them as suspects. the woman says she has filed a police report, the video showing the license plate number and two individuals in question, but has

heard nothing back from opd, who had no new info for us as of sunday night. she is speaking now to warn others. >> it is just unfortunate that people are able to do things like this and get away with it. j.r.: in oakland, j.r. stone, abc7news. julian: lawsuits are prepared to be filed on behalf of children caught up in the uvalde school shooting. a local attorney there is representing two robb elementary school kids who survived the may 24 attack. one of which was shot in the lake and is still recovering right now. the attorney is based in san antonio and says he intends to prove negligence of the officers involved. his plan is to file this federal complaint within the next two weeks. kumasi: pg&e has been fined more than $100 million for not fixing natural gas pipelines to prevent corrosion. an investigation failed to address more than 100 natural gas pipelines in a timely

low clouds and fog really dictating our weather from the coast to the bay area sure. it is gray out there. it looks like not a lot of folks using the wipers out there right now, but there are areas where we have a little bit of mist and drizzle. it is 61 in san jose. as we look at walnut creek, we need to get you up over the cloud deck to see some clout -- some clear sky. plenty of sun and heat on the way inland. chilly in the low 50's in santa rosa, middle 50's as you head toward the east bay, where it is sunny in concord and the livermore valley. the fog has been present the past several mornings in santa rosa. once again, .75 miles visibility. it is gray over to emeryville. the mist, drizzle, fog, pulling back to the shoreline. hot weather with a temperature spread of a good 35 degrees today. it gets breezy in the afternoon. that cooler pattern arrives midweek and stays with us.

here is a look at the low cloud deck. the bayshore here into fremont and hayward, that pulls back. we are sunny and we have cloudy skies. limited sun as you head toward half moon bay and pacifica. we will get into a lot of sunshine tomorrow afternoon again. the winds will be a little bit stronger than you see here into your tuesday afternoon. 2:00 today, 15 mph to 20 mph, breezy through the coaster gaps. you know the drill. the snow grade there, wins over 20 mph. this is through the evening hours. we get into tuesday, starting at the same, but look at the wind gusts, up to 30 mph here, even stronger as we get toward the late afternoon. this will provide a little bit of cooling, more so at the bayshore. in lynn, you get the delta breeze in the afternoon. temperatures beginning to take a turn by late tomorrow.

julian: back now with developing new set of solano county, where authorities are investigating a shooting, where an officer shot a suspect. they tried to stop a car on north texas street last night. patrick hall did not stop and apparently led police on a chase, we are told. during that chase, investigators say he shot at an officer's patrol car. a bullet went through the

windshield, hitting the headrest, narrowly missing the officer. they stopped the car with a spike strip. they shot at the man, who was taken to hospital and is expected to recover. no word on what charges he might be facing. we are also hearing no officers were injured. this morning, actor danny benedick she is speaking out about a medical mystery he has endured for months now. the partridge family actor first had issues in april. he says he was struggling with his speech and needed help from his wife. >> she looked really nervous. she says, you are not saying words, you are not speaking english. which, of course, is preposterous to me. we called an ambulance that took me to hospital, where i remained for the first five days and remember very little of it. julian: apparently, he had taken medical leave from his seattle-based radio show, as he continues to seek out a diagnosis. he returns to work today, encouraging fans to take care of their own health. you can see much more from the

interview with him on "gma" after abc seven mornings. kumasi: in the north bay, a temporary ban on short-term rentals has been extended for nearly two years. the moratorium was originally extended, but county supervisors were concerned about the shortage of affordable housing in marin county, especially on the west side. julian: it is now time for your morning money report, and a bizarre request coming from some major u.s. stores. many are asking you to just keep the items you are wanting to return. do to supply chain backups, places like target and walmart and get, even american eagle, say they have two may items right now and their stores have no place to store all. the cost of taking returns back is too much to be worth it. instead, some retailers are handing the money back to you and also letting you keep the item, too. we are taking a live look at the

new york stock exchange now, as trading gets underway. you can see we are down just about 102 points right now. this weekend, san francisco truly shined, showing unity and pride on sunday. here's a look at some of the highlights from yesterday's 52nd annual pride parade. sony people gathered to walk, march, advocate, and enjoy the festivities. there were floats, music, and a lot of dancing. abc 7 was a proud sponsor, broadcasting live from the parade for the first time, and the weather was warm and filled with laughter. plenty of dogs out there having a good time, too. any pride celebrations in the country, but san francisco's is historic. and of course, iconic. if you missed all the action, you can watch the best parts of the parade on demand through our streaming tv app. if you don't already have it, it is free to download, and you can get it for amazon fire, roku, apple tv, and android tv.

tuesday. the hot weather has been above average. we should see upper 80's to near 90 in lynn. we have seen those mid-90's at the coast, taking a little time to clear. it is not clear at all in certain areas. with the cooler pattern beginning wednesday, we may wash that inversion out and allow for more son as temperatures cool out -- cool off. tuesday, temperatures still in the 90's. look at the numbers there. 60's by wednesday. here is the change that comes our way. only 70 as we get to the east bay. as we look at thursday, this is the pattern that will set up into the july 4 holiday. highs today once again in the middle 60's, with limited son. in the half moon bay and pacifica, middle 70's. 92 in livermore. a nice afternoon. the accuweather 7 a forecast looking at temperatures holding onto the warmth inland for that next day. as we look toward wednesday,

more seasonal, but below average into the holiday weekend. kumasi: thank you. the largest private landowner in california is closing down its forest to the public starting july 1. they own over 2 million acres of land across california, oregon, and washington. it allowed public access for hunting, hiking, skiing, and more, but extreme drought and wildcard conditions have changed their minds. most wall fires are started by humans, with unintended campfires being one of those reasons. they're closing the land until further noticed in order to mitigate fire risks. julian: california may be getting a new national park in honor of cesar chavez. it would be based near bakersfield. it would include a group of landmarks across the state with significance to the civil-rights history of mexican americans. that would include macdonald hall in san jose, where chavez and activists famously organized. kumasi: there is a new streaming

kumasi: it is 6:57. if you are just joining us, here the seven things to know this morning. number one, investigation underway in vallejo. the suspect fired officers during a chase and hit a police car. that suspect is expected to recover. julian: more protests are planned today in response to the supreme court ruling overturning a person's right to an abortion. in san francisco, activists will meet at the federal building at 5 p.m. kumasi: an airline lobbying group is calling on the biden administration to address staffing shortages at air traffic control centers. more than 700 flights were canceled this week and because of weather and staffing issues. officials say you should be prepared for delays and cancellations all summer long. julian: california lawmakers have reached an agreement on inflation relief. the proposal calls for direct payments between $200 and three junta $50, depending on your
