a few minutes. reggie: we are continuing to track the impact of the supreme court ruling on abortion. some pharmacy chains are limiting the sales of emergency contraceptives because of soaring demand. jobina at the live desk with that. jobina: and that just one element of the fallout. new legal battles are being fought in several states around the country. more than a dozen states have so-called trigger laws in place to immediately ban or limit a potion -- limit abortion. judges in two of the states have temporarily blocked the trigger law from taking effect. saying the states are unprepared for a significant change. the judges granted temporary restraining orders requested by abortion rights activists allowing more time for the courts to hear challenges. meanwhile, the white house is downplaying calls to build abortion clinics on federal land. here is what vice president kamala harris had to say. >> what is most important right now is that we ensure that the

activists say the amendment goes too far. >> normally everything is filtered through republican versus democrat and everything else but having just a pure yes or no vote will be interesting. kumasi:kumasi: right now, the state's constitution protects the right to privacy in health care decisions which has been interpreted to include abortion rights by the amendment would make it more explicit. reggie: the january 6 house select committee scheduled a surprise hearing this morning. a former white house aide is expected to testify. she was a top adviser to president trump's chief of staff. sources tell abc news hutchison confirmed in a deposition to investigators that meadows burned documents in his office. meadows has not commented on the allegations. abc news will bring today's hearing live. our coverage is expected around 10:00 a.m. on abc seven and wherever you stream. kumasi: in the north bay, an investigation is underway into a wildfire where a man was found

dead. the fire scorched dozens of acres. j.r. stone has more. >> that's a big fire. >> keeps going. >> a keeps getting bigger and bigger. >> kids reacting to this fire is a burned on the petaluma hillside inside of their home. >> it is scary and concerning, especially because our landlords here have the cattle over here so it is their property too. >> a total of 63 acres burned before firefighters got the upper hand. sadly a man died early on during the fight, creating what firefighters call an incident within an incident or i wi. >> it was not a firefighter. we were still in probably the first 15 to 30 minutes of the firewall dealing with our wiw. >> cal fire and the sonoma county sheriffs office will not say if the fire was a prescribed burn or started by an accident

that led to the fatality. they also will not say if the victim was a rancher or someone working on the land. neighbors telus work is being down the hillside. >> i know they are doing a gravel company there just because that was our landlords old land. >> at the time of the fire, conditions were windy but multiple agencies battled on the ground and air drops were made using fire retardant and water. >> it's crazy. sad for the family members who lost someone, especially if it is one of the crewmembers or someone working there. >> calfire tightlipped about what happened here. the cause of the fire is under investigation and the identity of the victim here has not been released. in sonoma county, j.r. stone, abc 7 news. reggie: the redwood fire has been 75% contained. it is -- it started in marin county. a burned 113 acres and impacted

traffic. you can see all of the smoke and fire equipment in this video. chp shut down one northbound lane near the san antonio road for a couple hours. a train service was also stopped but resumed again last night. kumasi: fans of california's great america a long divide to the beloved themepark. according to its parent company is closing at the end of the current lease but that could be 11 years away. ryan curry is joining us in santa clara with the announcement that has people said. ryan: it will be a tough 11 years for a lot of people. but that is 11 years away so hopefully in the meantime people get to enjoy as much as they can of great america before anything were to happen before it announces its closure. the way it is happening, its parent company announcing at the end of its leasing term at 11 years, it will stop park operations. according to cedar fair, they sold the land to this park to a bay area real estate developer,

and after that, they entered a lease agreement. other than the lease agreement, expand for 11 years. once that is done, that is going to stop operations to the park. this sold for $310 million in the company is using the money to make changes to park operations and pay back some of its debt. in that 11-year window, cedar fares says attendees should not ask for immediate changes. it has been around for such a long time and a lot of people will be very sad to see it go. p we get it is a tradition to get season -- get a season pass for your birthday so you can spend your summer at great america. it will be sad. >> it is so sad because when i'm adult, i would still want to go and here and have fun. -- go here and have fun and relive memories. ryan: i know i have plenty of memories and so does my family as well as a kid and as an adult. my dad used to work here as well

kumasi: welcome back. it is 616 time. the men arrested is expected to be in court today but will reportedly not face a homicide charge. according to the chronicle, the 26-year-old is facing two counts of felony gun crimes. is accused of shooting and killing nesta bowen inside of a train last week. a 70-year-old man was also injured but is expected to be ok. green's attorney called the case a clear example of self-defense, prosecutors have not commented. reggie: more money is on the way to support public health and covid-19 recovery efforts in oakland. americo park, the- thow income students including those in oakland unified with a goal of leveling the playfield for all kids. they plant told a news conference at laurel elementary today. new development in the california state university system sexual-harassment scandal. san jose state and sonoma state

are among campuses audited over the response to cases there. the review could expand depending on what is uncovered during the investigation by the state. sonoma's state chancellor is stepping down at the end of july because of one of the scandals in san jose state recently paying a settlement of 15 athletes. fresno state is also part of the audit, it's chancellor resigned february. there kumasi: is a call for a crackdown on the roads. a man was killed in a crash after a side show with oakland sunday. oakland police say officers that also chased this driver, luz pena has more. >> in back-to-back weeks, oakland's morning the life of another person killed by a high-speed driver. >> it really echoes the fact we need more traffic enforcement to slow people down. >> this time, the family of a 28-year-old resident leaving flowers and candles just feet from where he lost his life.

his brother said he was walking to his car after getting food when he was struck by a vehicle early sunday morning. oakland police confirmed the driver had been chased by officers who are now on administrative leave pending investigation. >> prior to the collision, two officers attempted to stop the vehicle traveling nearly 100 miles an hour. the vehicle -- the officers could not keep up with the vehicle and the officers disengaged the vehicle. the vehicle continued down international boulevard where the nissan struck another vehicle in the roadway, causing it to spin out of control. the nissan struck several parked vehicles and motorcycles within the 5400 block of international boulevard which then struck a pedestrian on the sidewalk. >> according to the oakland police chief, three pedestrians were injured. officers arrested a male who police say was previously involved in a sideshow. chief armstrong bringing up another incident where an

the land for $310 million. the developer coal lodges is leasing it back to them. per lodges had not announced with a plan to do with the land long term. santa clara mary -- mayor gilmore wants to keep the park around as long as possible. the park has been around since 1976. it has a rich history in the bay area and because of the rich history, a lot of people will be sad to see it go. >> a lot of people, this were their first jobs. i grew up your so i know i used to come here all of the time. the economic impact it will have on the community i think is going to be huge. ryan: in this 11-your window, cedar fair says park attendees should not expect immediate changes. all of the season festivities are still planned to happen as scheduled but still a long window for people to enjoy the park. 11 years will be hopefully a

good amounts of time for people to get their last memories in place. speaking of first jobs, i know my dad said he had his first job here when he was in high school and college, being one of the presort -- one of the performers at the park. there is history amongst family and the bay area and my family is not alone. there are a lot of people left to enjoy memories at the park. i know 11 years is a long time to still have fun and create the new memories but it has been around for a while and will be sad to see it go. kumasi: thank you so much. this morning, an investigation is happening in missouri after a deadly amtrak train crash. at least three people were killed and we know hundreds of people on this train were on their way to l.a.. jobina: this crash happened outside of kansas city, the train hitting a dump truck. cars flew off of the tracks, landing on their sides. two of the three people killed were on the train. the other was in the truck. up to 50 people were injured. >> seats were coming apart, bags

were going everywhere, then after it stopped, you could smell the fumes and people started panicking, thinking it would catch fire so we tried to get out as quick as possible. jobina: the train had 243 passengers and 12 crew members on board at the time of the crash. a troop of boy scouts on the lane sprung into action to bring first aid to people, even the driver who unfortunately died. the national transportation safety board said it is sending a team to investigate the incident. reggie: thank you. a terrible story out of texas. 48 immigrants died after they were found inside of a tractor-trailer in san antonio. in a suspected human smuggling case. the nearby business owner made the gruesome discovery after hearing a faint cry for help. 14 people survived including several children. authorities say they are being treated for heat exhaustion or heatstroke.

firefighters say there was no water or working air conditioner, though this was a refridgerated truck. three people are in custody. kumasi: the santa clarita board of supervisors will be voting on a mission to provide narcan and other resources in schools. supervisors sidney chavez would propose a plan making funding available for schools to provide -- making funding available for schools to buy narcan. >> while we can make this resource available, every school district, every school board, and every school will have to make this decision for themselves. we will have to make the resource available to them. kumasi: according to the county, overdose deaths have gone up steadily in recent years from 29 in 2019 to 135 last year. officials say they are not aware of any overdose deaths on school campus in the county. toyota's first fully electric vehicle is off to a rough start. thousands of recalls over faulty wheels. this includes 2700 toyota bc
